Friends, as fans of Pokemon know, the journeys of Ash and Pikachu will shortly be coming to an end. After about 25 years of following them, the torch is being passed on to Riko and Roy, our new protagonists for the Pokemon Anime. HOWEVER… we all know with new protagonists comes the speculation as to how they’re related to the OLD protagonists, and loyal theorists, I think we’ve got this one figured out. Both of my parents had brown eyes, but my brother and eye were born with blue eyes. The blue eye gene actually came from my maternal grandfather. I think this concept could also apply to hair color.

A thing to mention, for things like eye color, depending on the alles the colors can combine. With that in mind, it is possible that Riko's mother could have white pupils because her pupils aren't black. They're light blue/gray = blue/black plus white.

That's what I keep saying. As cool as it would be for Riko to be Ash's daughter and as much as my shipping heart would love it - let's be honest - she's likely just a girl who saw Ash's final match against Leon and wanted to become an awesome trainer just like him. She became a fan of his, wearing that hairclip as an homage to his beginnings as a trainer.

Exactly, she is an homage to Ash, not his daughter. Named as a reference to Ash's VA, hair clip referencing the original hat (that symbol, btw, is stated to be the Pokemon League's official symbol, so it's not even specific to Ash). That's all. Saying she's his daughter also assumes the series will jump decades into the future, given Ash is still only 10 (maybe 11 by the very end) and she has to be at least the same age, so unless Ash becomes a teenage father, she'd be a newborn at the oldest in a decade and thus adventuring in two decades, at the earliest. They would also need to explain why she is in Paldea (Ash has never been there and has no reason to move there).

@@Kahadi To be fair, that is 2 decades. Ash could've traveled to every region off screen. Apparently he traveled to 8 regions in under a year, so it is possible that he traveled to Paldea in between him becoming World Champion and having a daughter.

According to the anime's director, Kunihiko Yuyama, Ash's departure from Pokémon is temporary. Yuyama said that Ash will return in the future. He also stated that Ash will be 10 years old forever, so this theory is a bit far-flung.
Aksim the latest Pokemon sneak peek says that Riko's mom and dad both attended Indigo Academy, but Ash is never seen attending school, so that almost completely disproves the Riko being Ash's daughter theory.
Not to mention, the pendant has something to do with terapagos or is terapagos, so it ain’t a thunderstone

Riko and Dawn don't really look that similar? Dawn doesn't have bright blue eyes..especially in her newer appearances! Both in Journey and the DP remakes her colors have been changed where her blue hair and blue eyes are much darker and duller..not really blue anymore

I'd prefer Ash and/or Dawn, but as long as she is a cousin, niece, grandchild, etc, I'd be down.

To be honest, I believe it's just an art style choice for his daughter to make her unique and make her stand out. If there is anyone Ash would be in the future with then it most likely Serena since they did make a promise to meet again.
they kissed, met again later in journeys, serena tied that blue ribbon to her foot in her her performance outfit, a japanese tradition of endgame and when they departed again, they promised to cheer each other up and as ash departed serena kept gazing into the horizon.

Riko being Ash's daughter could actually work in terms of message, especially since we have Roy. Riko is expected to be a Pokemon master like her father, and struggles with imposter syndrome and feeling like she's stuck on a predetermined path, while Roy has some conflicts with feeling like an underdog compared to Riko's lineage and expectations. Maybe in a twist of events, Riko decides not to attempt to rise to Champion status, and instead supports Roy in his journey. It could be a nice message of "you don't have to be what others want you to be" which feels like a very Pokemon-y moral.

Big fan of Ash, so much so she catches a Pawmi(a Pikachu "clone"). She tries to not evolve it, because Ash never evolved his Pikachu. Something changes and either Pawmi wants to evolve or she has to evolve him, and boom, end of season one.
In my opinion I think there is more to do with Ash's character before they kill him off...have him go back and re-challenge each league he lost and win then have him complete Goh's goal then if he does all of that he can truly call himself a Pokemon Master...also he should do the Galar Gym challenge and league as well...8 regions and a Champion in all 8 plus having caught every single Pokemon in the world then he will accomplish his goal cause as of right right they are killing off his character before he realizes his dream goal and to make the catching part possible evolve some of his current Pokemon minus Pikachu...for that get a Pichu and raise it into a Raichu
This all rides on the theory that Riko is his daughter. I want it to be Misty. She has travelled with him the longest and was his companion during the final episodes. That has to mean something.

Being a fan of Ash would be fine as well. Having even an inkling of a connection to Ash would have been cool and what alot of the fans would want. Actually the idea of Riko having a rival that is Ash’s actual child would be a pretty cool idea too. The child hated being the “champion’s kid” and feels annoyed by his dumb antics but Riko still idolise Ash as a pokemon trainer, trying to convince him/her to maybe giving him a break.

even though MatPat is gone, I think it’s safe to say that Liko is not Ash’s and Dawn’s Daughter. We meet Liko’s father in I think ep. 10 and her mother in ep. 11 of Pokémon Horizons.
If you're interested, there is this one artist by the name "TC-96" that just recently made their own OC that would be Ash's great granddaughter. It's just a single page now, and I don't think there'll be much in the future. But I thought it was pretty cool. I think the granddaughter's name is Casey.

I love the way that game theory doesn’t tell you the answer straight away but they show you the process of getting to that final conclusion.

The theory I'm running with is that Riko is a fan of Ash who received her hairclip from him at some sort of fan event or whatever (and maybe the thunderstone) and thus, was inspired to catch up to him. I like this theory because it gives Ash room to be an adult without immediately being like 30 years old which just seems more likely to me.

I just think of something regarding the genes shown at 6.34. If Ash would indeed had a Brown/Blue gene with brown the dominant color from Delia then this would also mean that the blue gene would be the resessive color from Ash's Dad which would mean if Ash would pass a Ressessive blue gene to his child it would come from his Dad Blue eye gene.

I don't if anyone still read the comments after a year. I remember hearing somewhere that the original anima season was supposed to end with Misty getting pregnant with Ashes child. I can't remember where I heard that or if it is true.
What would be really cool is if that necklace WAS the thunderstone Ash used to have, and it somehow managed to make its way to her after Team Rocket sold it. Like an insane coincidence linking Ash to the new lead.

Honestly, you truly never know with anime. One of the Digimon protagonists (Tagiru if anyone's curious) has brown hair with a big patch of red in the middle that you would normally think was dyed, but they showed his mom in one episode and she had the same thing. I'm always surprised when they actually reveal that a character in an anime was dying their hair because I always just assume those whacky colors are natural.
I could see Riko's blue highlights being dyed, but vibrant colored hair in anime is just way too common for it to be chalked up to being dyed(especially considering the fact that the main cast in Pokémon are all like 10).
Whenever weird anime hair colors are mentioned I think about that one Saiki k episode where he changed everyone's genes to fit in lol.
Love the eye genetics talk. My old science teacher tried to tell me a brown eyed person would never have a blue eyed kid. Even at 14, I saw the stupidity in that - rare is not the same as impossible. My grandparents had brown and blue eyes. Out of their three kids, one did turn out with my grandfather's true blues.
In my family several members have non brown eyes, even my dad has honey colored eyes, and generation skipping genes are common. I have a set of nephews with gray green eyes even though both their parents have brown eyes but one of the grandparents had that trait.
My dad has brown eyes, mum has blue. I have blue.
Stepdad has brown. Both of my half siblings got blue.

I’m the only one in my immediate family to have blue eyes (though even then, I also have central heterochromia so they’re blue and green), though my oldest sister’s eye are a bit odd, they tend to change from blue to green.

I wasn't expecting that, after they chose Giovanni, literally the only character the Pokémon Company had confirmed _was _*_not_* Ash's father to be ash's father; I never would have expected Matrick Pathew to admit that anyone could be the father. Although, saying this _after_ narrowing down the mother makes it seem like Dawn's really been playing the field.

I like the message at the end. Scientifically I think its important to remember this is all a matter of probability. Its not impossible to pass on unlikely traits and if riko turns out to be ash's kid after all, her mom could be virtually anyone (probably misty or serena since those two have the biggest amount of romantic contemplation regarding ash, not to mention misty sounds like a choice they would make since she was his first companion and all that.)

I also have a theroy on Ash's relationship with these girls.
First in the Pokemon world you are allowed to get married at age 10 (the original draft that is). Most likely before one of them gets taken by the driffloon.

That was a 4chan copypasta, so don't get your hopes up there. The only official info we have is on the TV Tokio website, which just reveals Riko's name and that the story "takes place in the whole Pokémon world", presumably a similar premise to Journeys

I find it funny that fans are willing to consider Latias just for giving Ash a kiss (it was even implied that it wasn't even Latias, but rather Bianca), over Ash's Bayleef, who also openly kissed Ash before in her debut episode and never stopped being way too affectionate and possessive with him.
Based on the natural interests in the anime, the only possible 2 (maybe 3) are Misty, Serena, and maybe either Dawn or Lili. Dawn appears to have another possible love interest (forgot who) and Lili is just a stretch. Serena and Misty had the best liveliness of being the mother. May also has a separate love interest. I really want it to be Serena, for personal preference.

The only reason i want her to be Ash's kid is so that all the parents who grew up watching the anime can send there own kid own a pokemon adventure, i think it would be sweet if they grew up watching Riko's dad the anime and the kid get to watch Riko.
I was thinking this same thing. Pokemon came out when I was seven, and my oldest is now six and is pretty into Pokemon, it would have been a really cool parallel of passing the torch to the next generation.

I personally thought it would be Serena. I haven’t watched X and Y but I know she is the character that most showed romantic interest in him. It’s even implied that she kisses Ash on the escalator. I think it’s the most wholesome answer. I haven’t finished the video yet but I’m throwing my idea out there
Personally I still think it could be Serena. Of course the theory thing is fun but I’d say that based on narrative Serena is the most option, at least in my opinion. Whether or not we see Ash have a kid, I can see the writers at least establishing a partner for Ash
Also I’d say that the writers don’t fully care about the genetics part of it. Character design is more important.

Everyone else stayed at home. I get Misty staying home since she has a real job as Gym Leader, but no one else has anything going on.

I guess it doesnt make sense that it would be the point of introduing a new protagonist, but you're forgeting that most dads in the pokemon franchises, games and series, are not known or are at least not seen. So ash could just be out training, getting stronger. Or maybe he could be defending the alola champion title or something like that.
Ash being the father of Riko have a lot of great story opportunity. For example; since Ash is now considered to be one of the greatest Pokemon trainer ever/Pokemon Master, Riko could be pressured to be as great as her father but struggles coz she doesn't have the same talent as her father does. Then later on, she'll discover that Ash once was an ordinary trainer and not even special but worked hard to be as great as he is now. That could be great lesson to her that hard work can beat natural talent. But I'm fine even if she's just a nobody and doesn't have any relationships with Ash.

Funniest thing is the answer to why Riko has blue hair could be because of hair dye since that has been a game option since X and Y so she could just have black hair and decided to dye it to add some style

I think Riko is a completely new character with no blood relation to any of the existing characters. The creators won't make her Ash's daughter because of the shipping wars. They're trolling us.
I think she's not his daughter because they flatly refused to let him be older than 10 for a quarter century. No way in hell they going to imply he's 30 in their new series for kids with a 12-year-old daughter. They want Ash to be the eternal kid, not having one.
I think they want a fresh start to the series, so having Ash or any established character related to her would have similar problems to Boruto.

Considering that Dawn appeared in alot of episodes of Journeys, way more than any other of Ash's past traveling companions, it kinda to make sence.
She deliberately went out of her way to go out where Ash was at the moment (sometimes even to different regions other than Sinnoh), or even inviting him for some festivals and events. Of course there were times where they would invite each other for help, or to stop a world ending event, you know a typical monday
Sometimes there was little need for her to be in the episode in the first place.
I seriously think if Ash gets maried the mother would be Serena proof on the last episode of XYZ.

My theory is that it isnt his daughter it's an extreme fan who also wants to become a pokemon master, and in the future, ash will still be thriving as a pokemon master as an adult, explaining the hair pin can be a merch item about that she bought since it's his iconic symbol, more confusing is the thunderstone looking thing, she could have bought it from an auction since maybe she thought it would give her luck to be a pokemon master like Ash, or it's a replica and she bought it because she liked the story why Ash kept his for so long. I haven't heard anybody bring up this theory yet, but what if Ash ends up being the professor to give the two new protagonists their pokemon like Oak did for him? All (or at least most) of the professors in pokemon have tree named, and ash trees are a thing, plus it would be a great way to show the passing of the torch from one protagonist to two more
This doesn't have anything to do with this but i have a theory about Magikarp. Here it is:
So we all know how weak and sort of useless Magikarp (sorry to Magikarp lovers), so how would it survive for pokémon eternity I think that the evolved form Gyarados would take care of the pokémon eggs with Magikarp inside and then take care of the Magikarp until they evolve into Gyarados so when we are catching Gyarados it's actually killing the Magikarp. It's just something that popped into my head and of course it's just a theory. Y'all can add evidence to agree or disagree with my theory this is just a short one because I don't like writing so much.
