It all makes sense when they are there motivating each other. Unrelated note that in Ultimate Journey's when Serena did return, the pier scene is a reference to The Great Gatsby when the light turned green. That means Serena still loves Ash as a form of symbolism.
I know I'm part of this video... so I may be a little biased... but this is actually one of my favourite videos EVER. I love how our points bounced off of each other so fluidly, the structure of the different moments is really perfect, I love the topic so much, and DUDE that editing was just fantastic. I still remember how i stopped watching the Pokemon anime in the Best Wishes series and when XY aired, Amourshipping was one of the, if not the most important reason why i got hooked with the series again. Its just so adorable and years later its still my favorite Pokemon shipping, thanks for reminding us of those good times.

Yeah i miss serena. i know we should move on from how short there last interaction was and that we'll never see serena again but im alil sensitive to dissapointed. shes been a comfort character for me since 2015 and after xyz ended not just the greninja release i felt out for a while and also ruined my first impression with gen 7(games and anime series).

I'm really really going to miss ash. I actually cried hard when I seen that his journey ended. From the original anime to now he's made so many memories. I wish it all could have ended different😔
I guarantee you Ash will come back. That specific episode with Serena was purposely made to BARELY give people what they wanted so they could tease the shit out of them and bring Serena back at a later date. There's no way they would do the most liked character that dirty and say, "Good enough." lmao on top of that, it would make them a lot of money.
XYZ is just so unique season. It's different from any other arc. Its full of emotion.
XY not just popular but without any regrets better than every other arc . The Animation, Ash as a really definitive and good character, Mega Evolution is by far the best gimmick for the anime (not competitive)

As an Amourshipper I enjoyed this Video. It was really well made.
While it isn’t fully canon, it’s the ship that’s the closest to being canon. And if nothing shipping related happens in the future, Amour will “win by default” based on what the director of the XY series has said, which is something that we should take as “This is what the staff said.” While I’d like to see it being made fully canon one-day in a special episode or movie, it’s unclear if this will ever happen. Though I think that the chances aren’t that bad, given that the audience in Japan, the one that’s primarily targeted by the show, is leaning quite heavily towards Serena and Amour.

By then you may end up hearing some news of Ash returning, although it may be a good 5 to 10 years before we see Ash/Satoshi come back to make an appearance.

when i first heard of Serena's return i expected it to be bigger then what we got especially because Wallace and his niece were in it as well, I'm not a die hard Amoreshipper but i am one nonetheless so i was disappointment when they tried to actively separate Serena from Ash through the entire episode.
like maybe forget the filler and run a small 2/4 episode ark (because we definitely had the time for plenty of those) revolving around Ash and Serena doing a bit of contests together at a wallace cup, there is a bunch of ways to go around with this idea but i really wanted to see this going again because it would have fused the two best versions of ash (DP + XYZ)
as for results the most obvious one is Serena wins against ash to show how much she has grown and that she can stand on her own even compared to him, but there is also the unexpected turn of the battle going into such a way that impresses the judges and they can't call a winner.

Im glad i started getting seriously into pokemon with XY, i saw black and white before that and even at a young age i knew XY was leagues above. it still holds up, and i rewatched it multiple times, and now years later its still the same. Its my personal favorite pokemon series, the animation is alot more anime esc (especially the fight scenes), and generally xy seems alot more like a modern action anime than the rest of the pokemon series', which i love. And it arguably has the most mature themes out of the series. i love this series to death and im glad you covered it all these years later with the journeys episode. Serena is truly the definitive love interest for ash
Diamond and Pearl lot is the best. Having grown up with the original series and subsequent ones after, still prefer D&P to this day

I feel like I have to point this out; each of the girls (not counting Bonnie) were there to act as a love Interest (to an extent). It's one of the reasons each Girl was Ash's age and had their fair share of moments. Each group of Shippers can point to at least (roughly) half a dozen moments that could be seen as "shipping moments"). That is because that was the point. I think Serena's moments were the most upfront.
But, I think the main issue I have with these Ships is honestly Ash himself. To be a great Love Interest you must have Interest in Love. I don't think Ash had much interest in love. At least he didn't seem like he was ever thinking about dating. I almost always chuckle a little when a Shipper refers to one of the girls as Ash's "girlfriend". None of them are.
I think the Finale of Ash's journey where he doesn't end up with anyone was for the best. Now, all Shippers can just continue shipping Ash with who they want without worrying about canon. I'm honestly not even sure how Ash as a boyfriend would even act. He isn't a romantic. He has never even been the person to try and win the feelings of another person over. But, fans like whom they like. That's fine. Enjoy your ships. Just keep it civil.

So, real story: I never cared for Pokemon in my childhood, the only game I played back then was Fire Red and didn't like that much, never watched the anime on tv because it looked weird compared to the cartoons I liked. But it all changed in Late 2015, when I saw a video about Amourshipping, and then I tried Fire Red again and then I decided to watch the anime Pokemon XY&Z ep 5 (The Darkrai episode) and I was so blown away, I loved it and then I stick around to the ep 12 (The Dancing episode, that Eevee evolves) and when I noticed I was in love with this anime, Ash and Serena were so great together and I wanted to see how they would continue the amourshipping. Ever since XY ended nothing ever made me so happy and interested in the anime in the same level, but I think Horizons might be the closest I will ever get to that feeling again, because these first episodes have been better than both the previous 2 series and I will be hopeful for the future but I will never forget how special Pokemon XY felt with the amourshipping being a core factor in this. #AshandSerenaForever

In X and Y his mental age is 17
In their 10s more likely, their attitude and their appearance is not that of an actual 10 year old.
Also, I remember back then, when Alola was still new that they stated the characters were somewhere between 11 and 19, so people gives them the age they feel it's the best for them in the end.

It was disappointing, but I can understand why they did it. You can't ever please all the different camps of shippers unless you don't give ash a paired ending at all, and leave it blank/vague for each of them to fill in themselves.

I think it is the only ship that could become canon(If Horizon is in the same universe as the Ash series)since they tell you to your face that Serena is in love with Ash, in the other ships they are only fan assumptions

As much I personally don't like Pokeshipping; Misty is shown to have feelings for Ash. Most of it, granted; was in the English version but from what I understand Misty is still shown to have some feelings for Ash. But, I think Ash is better off not dating as that way all Shippers can just continue shipping with who they want without concern of canon.
Hope that Ash & Serena's wedding will be made in a final Pokemon movie this year sooner or later! Personally, if they ever truly address Amourshipping as a whole for these two, it would appear in a special or a movie with a plot looming over them that will depend on their bond going forwards. I feel like it would go the route of The Last: Naruto the Movie-like plot but it would be interesting to know how they would probably handle this since they just adore Ash and Serena moments.

What’s more Serena probably made it the furthest in the entire Pokémon anime series. She got the first kiss (on the lips because if it was not, they wouldn’t have censored it), childhood friends and both helped each other improve in the xyz series. Also all the other poke girls in the series, see Ash more as friend and rival than a crush. Serena sees him differently compared to the other poke girls. The kiss doesn’t have effect now because is he still somehow Ten. But when he gets his older, the kiss will have more meaning for Ash, and Ash will understand more about relationships. Also Pokémon has improved that relationship is allowed as with Kukui and Burnet. Meaning it’s entirely possible for relationships to happen in the future. Also the supports of fans does work, because they brought both greninja and Serena after fans requested it so much. Armorshipping being very popular would allow the chance for this relationship to happen higher. I would love to see Ash grow up or else these relationship won’t make any progress because he is still ten. I would love to finally seen the characters grow up to see that characters like Lei will appear. Because it would sad for Lei to stay as baby for the rest of his life because the anime just doesn’t allow their characters to age. Like logically Ash shouldn’t be ten after Lei is born.

I guess we still don't know where Pokemon Horizons' timeline correlates with that of the original anime, but it would be nice that eventually some sort of "Where Are They Now" of some of the OGs happen through Horizons episodes.
Considering Ash is half-Lucario, the Latias is truly the best match. 🧐
But for real, XY series had the strongest writing in general aside from the Competent Rocket arc in Unova that never got completed due to literal natual disasters in Japan.
The only way they could have a new character surmount the long-term adventures with Misty (and gradual pairing of her with Ash throughout the Orange League and Pokémon 2000) is to write someone he'd known even before that to come back into the picture. The old "childhood friend" trope, which is exactly what they did. Only, Serena and Ash essentially had to meet and get to know each other all over again. By Pokémon standards, these two had more shared character growth than anyone at any other point in the series.

One thing that already makes AmourShipping at least bit canon is that kiss scene. I know, us AmourShippers talk a lot about it.
But Ash wouldn’t just accept the kiss if he didn’t love Serena, otherwise, this scene would literally portray (and promote) a non-consensual relationship, which is the last thing a family-friendly anime would do.

The only reason I found Ash and Serena more appealing, is because the tsundere trope is old and it hasn't aged well for Misty. Misty needed more scenes of her ... well... not being a bitch... more often... for me to have liked her more. And the biggest failings for Misty's writing was way back in the Kanto league at the battle against Richie.
Instead of asking him what happened and why he was vanished, she chews him out for being lazy. Which, yeah he did, however his pokemon were SEVERELY exhausted and he had to battle with all his team at like. 10% energy. No one noticed that, and all misty did was bitch at him. That was her biggest failing. The writers didn't necessarily really choose to show more moments until the Orange Island episode where she was getting hit on by a pompous guy, and the end of Johto when she 'had' to leave.
However, even by Alola her attitude... just was the same. It erased the moments she had to leave. It was odd how many people were happy to see her again, but the main issue again was the focus on the Alola cast. Misty and Brock were more interested in seeing Lana, Kiawe, and Olivia, and only sprinkled any moments of reunions for the trio. Even when they went to Kanto, it was Ash's big moment to show them around... and really it was just Misty and Brock spending more time with the Alola cast. I mean I liked them fine, but the only episode was the tailend of the second one where Ash battled Misty... and that's all they did. And then they acted like they spent a lot of time together. The same happened when they went to Alola. Hell. Brock dug out most of the two episodes! He was barely in them! xD
Ironically, Dawn is the only female companion of his to return and cheer him up in person before he battled Leon.
With Serena, her and Ash were written to be better suited and respected another. They never fought because there weren't issues for either of them to fight over. She didn't argue with Ash when it came to pokemon, and found her own way. She literally didn't know what she wanted out of life! xD So her journey had her find her own true passion and calling, a calling she made on her own. Which I can respect that she wanted to accomplish her goals simply because Ash wanted to accomplish his as well.
With May, she was like Kanto-Era Ash, and she clashed because she felt she forced herself to tag along, yet demanded they adhere to what she wanted. She ignored the advice from more experienced trainers --- again Kanto-Era Ash --- and so there were more fighting between them.
However, Misty has no goals she's going for. She wants to be the best water user yet took over the Gym... simply because. Her sisters were shown to be more in town often, yet... she still chose to be a Gym Leader. Brock left because he wanted to study being a pokemon doctor, he didn't need to be a gym leader because his family took over his position. Misty could've done the same since that's what her sister's did when she left Cerulean City.

Honestly, I think Ash got a happy enough ending. Although, I think he would have been happiest if all of his friends (at least companions and rivals) showed up to congratulate him and throw a big party. And maybe for his dad to show up.

Also, Ash is the kind of boy that would be about as happy with any of the other girls as he would be with Serena. Even Ash decided he want to be with Iris he'd be very happy. I mean, if Ash chooses someone, that is the girl that most likely makes him the happiest. Even if it were a one off character like Giselle (girl from "School of Hard Knocks" episode).

When I see others either talking down or trash about it or say that the XY anime would have been better if Serena and Ash argued, never met as kids but have kid Serena meet kid Clemont while having kid Ash meet kid Korrina due to them preferring Ash and Korrina together, it just angers me very much.
