    Thank you for sharing your work and knowledge, how many hours does it take to do this type of work (only facet)?

    • @tennpikr74
      @tennpikr74  Před 3 lety

      2 to 3 hrs for a 5 mm size one to 40 hours for a 30 mm one . a pro cutter is much faster. the one in this video was around 6 or 7 hrs.

      @@tennpikr74 thanks my friend, great job, I know how to make cabochons, now I'm learning to facet ...

    This might be an odd question but I am still learning at faceting, still new to it, is there a certain way that you tell to stop faceting each facet, a lot of times my crown or pavillion is off center and I don’t know if I am just not dipping it correctly or what, I would love some advice thanks so much!

    • @tennpikr74
      @tennpikr74  Před 3 lety

      If you are using a machine without a digital angle readout then you must cut to the stop by using your ear to hear the tick tick tick of the stone against the lap, you would be using light hand pressure at this point . You would also need to look at the facets size as its being cut constantly. You must be over cutting facets to get the off center culet point.

    How can you tell if amethyst is treated, synthetic or natural?

    • @tennpikr74
      @tennpikr74  Před 3 lety +2

      Lab testing can determine that. For myself , lab quartz and natural once cut would be hard to determine.

      none really bothers to treat amethyst or sell synthetics as its too bloody abundant, only thing to watch out for is purple cz
