    Well done Brent! Your polishing methods are great, and the stone reflects it (no pun). Thanks for sharing all your techniques with us. Stay Safe my friend.

    I have a piece of yellow quartz I got told it is called citron maybe because of it being slightly enhanced .

      Yes a lot of the quartz is heated to change the color.

    I am struggling with what's titled A Lazy Oval. The girdle is not working out. Why would the diagram have you cut the girdle on opposite sides of the stone in pieces? I see your diagram has that order as well. How do you get the girdle straight when you can't match up each cut because they are on opposite sides of the stone? I am being forced to cut into my beautifully aligned facets in the pavilion to even out the girdle. The girdle on the ends are much thicker than the sides too. My culet is a keel shape. My sharp meet points are at the girdle. It is a mess. This is my third stone. Any suggestions would be so appreciated.

      ovals are tough. do more rounds before trying an oval.

    With ovals, do you have to re-set the height with every facet? Like with round brilliants, you keep the height the same for each row of facets, but is this the same deal? Like every time you do one facet, you change the height to facet the next facet in that row? Also, amazing stone! Great work!

      @tennpikr74  Před 4 lety

      Thank you, with most ovals you dont change mast height every facet but as in this case sometimes i cut 2 facets at the same ht, then the next group of facets were cut at a different angle so the ht. had to be changed again. most of the steps on this design involved groups of 4 facets cut at the same angle and ht. Once you start cutting a facet in these groups you dont change the height setting just the index setting . All this changing angles and indexes make cutting an oval time consuming.

    Dear nice video.... but can you tell me little bit about the diagram? Please. I write all the angles from the diagram you have shown in the video for (oval brilliant 45) there in the diagram in the first step there is 44.68° angle but in the video yiu have said I am cutting main facet with 43° I notice this in the video.....also tell me how can you set the try the numbers after the point in the machine? Like 44.68° in this case how can you set the .68 in the faceting machine.... I am greatly confused by it.......... The diagram I follow the diagram which you have shown in the video but the stone is going to an irregular shape.
    Please help me sir,
    Please make a complete video mean show all the steps in the video it doesn't matter if the video become longer.

      @tennpikr74  Před 3 lety

      Sorry im unable to make a video on this design at the present time but ill try to answer your question. I must have misspoke, i did cut it according to the diagram. You can round off a 44.68 to a 44.7 and still have a good result. Your stone will have an irregular shape intil you cut the girdle facets. Completing all the girdle facets at 90 degrees will make the shape oval.

      @@tennpikr74 thank you so much for replying Sir. In the video when you cut the first four facets so all their corners touch with each other. But my stones first four facet's corners didn't touch with each other when I cut them. Angle, 44.68° Indices, 7 - 25 - 39 - 57
      The another problem... I used Sirilankan type hand pieace faceting machine in which you can't set the numbers after the point for example 44.68° now in this case I can't set the .68° in my machine. I can only set 44 or 45 what should I do?

    • @tennpikr74
      @tennpikr74  Před 3 lety

      @@fionahonohan2757 cut the first 4 facets to a center point at the culet. If the corners dont meet at this time dont worry, cut the next sets of facets, they should fill in where the first set didnt meet. If you can set your angles to a tenth of a degree, round off to the next higher degree such as 45 .00.
