Today I take out the Harley Fat Boy 114 out for the first time, I've wanted to ride this bike for some time and I've always heard mixed opinions about it. It's a big beast and the massive wheels mean it's a brute to get around the corners, but I love that about it. It's part of the character!
I go into detail on why I think this bike is the most Harley out of all the Harleys, it's iconic from its appearance in Terminator with Arnold Schwarzenegger! I talk about the Handling, acceleration, torque, grunt, sense of occasion, cool factor and more...

"I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle"
"Not that motorcycle, who has the Ducati keys?"
Not that one
But is a fat boy, great chassis
Do it now! GET TO ZA CHOPPA!!!! Sorry, I got carried away.....

What?! A perfect way to start my morning and watch a motorcycle video? Yes!
Own a 2022 and while technically it's far from the best bike I ever hard, it puts a smile on my face every time I look at it, let alone ride it. Can't imagine ever selling it.
I have a 2021 Fatty and I won’t change it for any other bike!
I have a 22 fatboy. I love it. Here in the US our plates for a Softail are typically mounted to left side, that nicely shows off that 240 rear tire
I think there are only four motorcycles in the current lineup that represent what a Harley Davidson looks like. That is the Softail Standard, Street. Bob, Fatboy, and the Softail Heritage.
Street Glide. I’d put that before the Street Bob.
Road King always my favourite looking Harley.
@@rogermurph101 I'm talking about the Softail range. not baggers XD
@@splodge5714 Road King is very nice too. But I was talking about the Softail range.
Own a 2021 and absolutely love it it looks as good standing still as when your riding it.
Changed exhaust to vance and hines big radius in chrome then she sounds awesome. You always get Harley haters but they're just jealous.
radius
Its a looker for sure! Cant find neutral on my 42 year old sportster either, still waiting for the gearbox to wear in .........🤣
Was a bit of an issue on demo days as no one can find neutral. Not great
with inside of your foot push the gear level knob in towards the engine and slowly lift it up into neutral. thats why expensive harley boots have extra piece of leather in that part of the shoe.
Gearbox on my 2001Sportster 1200 is one of the best I've ever had on any bike. No problems.
Never owned a Harley but they are one of the coolest looking machines out there, I ride a VTwin and love the character of these engines.
An achingly beautiful bike and great review by somebody who actually gets it and doesn't keep comparing it to "normal " motorcycles. Way too expensive for me alas, but a joy to behold. Keep the content coming.
We all like your weather updates before the review man :D
Not my cup of tea but I can appreciate why you like it so much - great review
Great video mate...I walked Into a Harley dealership four months ago looking to buy a Fat boy , came out with a Breakout probably one of the best bikes Iv ever ridden . Brit In the USA
Really nicely produced video, highlighting the bike so well... 👏
Many thanks 😊
Fatboy has always been one of my favorites ever since a friend bought one years back the original one.
Great looking bike. For some reason I have a soft spot for Harleys even though I ride sports bikes. I used to own an XR which was great fun. Great video 👍
I have a 2020 fatboy. I struggled with finding neutral when new. Still have the bike and it now slots into neutral nicely. They just need to be ridden.
You did an excellent job (as usually) by presenting this marvelous HOG, Darcy 👍
Wishing you and the Ol'Man all the best for crossing the 100k subs mark doon enough, mate 👍
Many thanks!
@@MrDarcy-OlMan U R most welcome, mate 🤝
Never clicked so fast. Love this bike
The iconic Fat Boy, love that bike! I would agree that it’s not a necessarily “flickable” bike in the curves but I actually found myself enjoying that as somewhat of a slow down and cruise through instead of racing through if that makes sense. Great video, enjoying the content you put out!
Great looking Harley that would look nice alongside my rocket in the shed but I’m not a lover of chrome polishing I’m afraid wonder if they might bring a stealth all black with a bit of grey touches then that would be good hope to see a part two on this bike take care ride safe
Breakout is what really Harley should look like. With the 117 , it should be the flagship of what Harley is all about.
it is a beast of machine, had mine for almost a year and yes it does turn heads where ever you go, best bike ive ever had.
Love the fat boy definitely need more content on them would be cool if you could get all generations of the fat boy and do a pros and cons review comparing them
Great video hope you hit 100k soon 👍
I disagree with the "Sumo wrestiling" thing. I own a 2018 version of this bike. Have owned it for 2 1/2 years.
The big thing about this bike is that fat tires do not like counterleaning, which lots of people do on Harleys. If you ride leaning into the inside of the turn a little ibt over the tank, it drops right into corners real nice and easy. It's got a bit less tip in speed compared to many other bikes ofc, but it'll handle twisty roads well if you ride it the way it wants. I ride twisty roads so much on my Fat Boy I wore out the shoulders of my tire tread before the center, basically the opposite of most Harley riders.
At times it feels more nimble than the Indian Sport Chief I rode a while back.
Very good review, this is a dream bike and for me that dream come true back in 2019. There are few negatives:
1. Not so easy to keep chrome shining. It is a headache at least for me.
2. Wind shield is a must but it spoil the looks.
3. Factory seat is a killer.
4. Uneven tyre wear which could be due to unbalanced bike weight. In case of my bike once on the cruise control and hands off the bar bike tends to lean more to the left and to keep it straight driver need to conterweight with body lean slightly to the right in order to drive in straight line.In short it spoils the fan.
Anyway for me this bike is a piece of art to look at and driveing experiance covers all I ever need, my speed addiction finally disopear.
Mate it sounds like you have a geometry issue with your rear wheel or frame. Have you got someone with eagle eyes that can measure the symmetry between left and right sides relative to the axle?
A lovely bike. Rode one a while back. Takes a little while to get sharp turns right.
Beautiful bike. If I ever had the money for a Harley it'd be a Fat Boy.
I'm not a fan of the look of the big fairing Harley's but I appreciate how amazing they may be at motorway/highway speeds.
I've seen you on a lot of bikes. That one fits and suits you best.
Great review bro.. It sounds like you had a lot of fun riding this bike
It is such a cool Harley, great video Darcy 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you 🤗
Love the Harley reviews! Thank you.
Glad you like them!
Just done 3000 miles on one of these during a couple of weeks in the US. Was fairly comfortable but cornering takes a bit to get used to. My FLXRST felt extremely nimble when I got home. The rear tyre wore out after 2500 miles and was fairly new when I set off. $700 to replace. Not good if you do decent mileage!!
i wished i would get weather warnings by this guy every day !!
It looks great but I miss the original headlight shape. Not a fan of the square headlight look.
It's the only Harley I would ever buy. It's spectacular. Thanks for this great video.......Sal : )
This harley fat boy and kawasaki vulcan classic 900-1500 ,chrome and black combination are best looking bikes ever🤟
Normally I would say the older Harleys would be much better but this one 😍 IT Looks Really fine 👍👍👍
IT needs a little more black less Chrome
but my god it's a Beauty
Sadly im too broke and have Not enough Money 😭
Greetings to the old man
He said " I'll be back!" 👍🏼👍🏼
What a beautiful bike❤️❤️.
It's a very cool looking bike, but something like Low Rider S with chrome would be my preference.. I want HD to stop saving disk brake at front, traction control, etc.
I love my 2019 Fat Boy. Put on an apehanger but steering got even harder. Think of getting back to the original factory handlebars. But I still love it.
Since forever my favorite Harley Davidson, the limited edition 2023... uff
My absolute favourite motorcycle and a personal dream of mine, especially all black 30th anniversary edition.
However I dislike the fact that they ditched full wheels, and went with the holes, still looks amazing, but those full wheels are so iconic, unique and just damn sexy.
Haven't ridden one yet and hope I will not be disappointed as I'm really planning on getting one, maybe next year!
Please film more with the fatboy and show people's interactions 😅
It’s a real beauty isn’t it! Unfortunately I’ve got to take it back early as it’s needed for a show 🥲 not sure I’ll be able to film any more with it but I will try!
She's a true beauty, looking awesome and really cool. Unfortunately she won't fit my 6"5', a shame.
Greetings from the USA. Great review. Sticking to my 23 Softail Standard. You'll get to 100,00 subscribers yet mate!
Many thanks 😊
I had a 2022 Fat Boy. Wonderful bike, I loved it. But once I put a windshield on it, I realized I was a fan of not getting blasted in the chest with wind trying to knock me off the bike. Traded for a 22 Street Glide, and I couldn’t be happier. I do wish though that I had the finances to keep both.
Was following along until you mentioned you were 19 in 2021 😂 I honestly can't believe you're younger than me! Love the review keep it up! ❤
Hahah thank you! I’ll be 22 in 2 weeks
@@MrDarcy-OlMan happy early birthday!
Beautiful bike
A beautiful baby ! I love it. I wonder how long last the rear tyre?
“ Investment” - I like that 😉
Great looking bike.
I like the footboards on my Honda Forza 350. Plenty of room to move your feet back and forward. No gear lever or footbrake to worry about.😊
I had the old model. If I had the cash I'd have this one. Beautiful
Just bought a Fatboy today your video just reinforced that I had made the right decision. I'm keeping my Ducati V4S Multistrada so I have the best of both worlds. :)
Congratulations! 🙌🏻
I feel like getting tattoos and going on a road trip but I’ve only got a street twin in my garage so not really the same . Great review thanks .
Many thanks 😊
Arnold did the best marketing for this bike
I think the Sportster is the most iconic Harley Davidson. It’s been around since 1957.
I once ran an experiment and intentionally took and shower, shaved off all my facial hair, wore a red shirt and blue jeans, no black or leather, no bandana, refrained from getting any tattoos, went outside walking towards the bike with no aspirations of going to a bar and breaking a chair over someone’s head, and was inclined to actually smile while riding the bike cause, well, it’s fun. Not dong the Im a bad @zz dark glasses look and I was going to be happy and wave to people. Well, much to my amazement, the bike started right up and rode just fine as it was designed to do. Truly astonishing! 😎💪😂
Hello here from America & just traded my 2003 sportster 1200c & 💰 down on a 2022 Fayboy ReefBlue never been titled and had 97 miles on i absolutely love it and I feel like I got all the silver & gold all im doing 2 it is the exhaust im going 2 subscribe
Awesome welcome to the channel 👍🏼👍🏼
yes this is the most iconic of HDs for me , post Arnie’s jump in terminator❤❤
I test rode one recently and I loved everything about it except it was too quiet. I would get louder pipes because I gotta have the rumble!
The Fat Boy is a fantastic looking bike (other than the awful number plate holder) even if you are not in to bikes you would know it was a Harley, I took a test ride one last year but didn't get on with the Fat front tyre and the fact it kept grounding out every time I took it around a roundabout however it didn't stop me admiring its good looks , its quite simply a stunner.
I gotta get one
This exactly what i imagine when i think of a HD, the wheels, color and all.
just bought one, love every kilo of it and stands good against my cvo e-glide
Good choice!
114 v 117 is massive difference, like night and day! His dad said the same on an earlier video, FB 114 won’t scare you, 117 BO will!
Man that English countryside is just gorgeous. You are so so lucky to live there.
Thank you!
100% Iconic!
I liked the low rider more. The first Gen Fat Boy was the Dogs.
Enthusiasm shines through.
For me personally, I think this is the coolest-looking bike.
Dream bike right there. Such an iconic bike! I only wish they'd kept the classic headlight but it's friggin fantastic.
Just an idea for the more budget minded of your followers: would you consider doing a used bike review series? I'm thinking old school Harleys, japanese cruisers from the 90s and early 2000s, early 2000 triumphs and so on.
The best Harley Davidson, Terminator loves it 😊
Instantly remove exhaust and replace with Vance and Hines. And it’s at least 80% cooler
fat boy is my fave! i really want one!
I have a 110 FB, really wanted a new 114, but is so tame I couldn’t believe it. Would need upping to a 117+ and likely much more to be in anyway exciting. Waiting for a factory 117 in 2025. Save the upgrade costs.
I’ll be back , Hasta la Vista Baby.
What a bike absolutely gorgeous. Mind you will need your own private army for protection or it will be gone in sixty seconds.
Terminator 2 really sold the fat boy for me.
Classic Harley look, only thing I’d change is the exhaust, otherwise good to go as is.
Subscribed. Consider subtitles for foreigners. Nice videography.
Welcome to the channel. We normally put subtitles on so will sort 👍🏼👍🏼
When I see a new Harley-Davidson featuring that much chrome I can't help but wonder how long it'll be before rust spots appear just like what happened to your Standard. The models with blacked out components, like the Low Rider S, are likely a safer bet in that regard unless one lives in a desert climate!
Definitely queued up for when i win the lottery
It looks sensational, not sure what the ground clearance is like but if that's a concern it's probably not the right bike for you anyway,
yes ;; that bike suits you -== go on go on go on have it ;;;; remember the ol' man doing the test ride on one ,,, he loved it ;
The best one 😎 the best speedo on tank
love it
If only I had the money
Oh, yeah! The most beautiful motorcycle in the world! Thank you!
it DOES GET WAY cooler - the FLHRXS !
I want to know more about that place this video started. Not sure that was art or recycled frames of metal or wood. Great place to do photography
It's outside Harleys new distribution centre and a bit hush hush!
A true Harley!
Me and my friend was going back home from school when we see the fat boy 114 with a (possibly modified) muffler and it backfires 3 times in front of us my friend quickly closes his ears and the cars parked next to a store even got it's alarm off.
"Dude what the fuck is that motorcycle?!"
"That's the beauty of 2 cylinder bro!"
I would definitely put more open pipes on it, I've also been told they don't stop too well, so braided brake lines and maybe Brembo calipers
Try out the Fat Boy or Breakout and you'll have a way better answer than what you're being told. The brakes are really well on both of those models stock.
@shaglioni Then again, that was from my dad. He had a 1997 Wide Glide
I would like to know how it compares to the bmw R18 and even the triumph rocket
I like the looks of all 3 but I would only be able to afford one especially as an occasional bike
The R18 and Fatboy handle in quite a similar way and have a very similar delivery of torque. The Rocket 3, strangely, does not feel as if it has as much torque at low rpm, and is not so eventful to ride 👍🏼

@@MrDarcy-OlMan thanks for the response I will bear that in mind 👍
The rear turn signals (indicators) are upgrades from stock. I just installed on my Fatboy-I agree they are fantastic!!

You're 21 years old and own a Harley Davidson, lucky you, it's a Big Twin, lucky you, it's a Softail, again, lucky you.. I can understand, particularly as you're riding a regular turn over of machines, you may feel your own might be lacking, though I bet it isn't and am of a mind to suggest that after a three week absence you'll rediscover your pride and joy.. And stop looking at it as a basic model, that "standard" is set pretty high.
Obviously your old colleagues can advise, but my hunch is perhaps lay off stroking anything until this new round of emissions lands properly and we have a clear idea of the goal posts, or certainly do nothing that isn't easily reversible, as those goal posts do keep moving..
Amazing review! That's my next bike! Sub!
Thank you and welcome to the channel 👍🏼
That's a great looking bike, would like that one, keep dreaming...
You and me both!
I think you got the torque and hp wrong. Those are the nm and hp from the 117 Low Rider S. The Fat Boy 114 makes about 155 nm and 95 hp, at least in continental Europe.
Hmmm yes on Harley’s website it says 155nm. However on the document they sent me it says 175nm, seems they f*d that up haha. I’ll clarify that
How bout the rear seat comfort for the pillion?
czcams.com/video/FxSadkZXjTw/video.htmlsi=jNJSsM1e682jspYf at 5:00
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Thanks for the reply. For long rides with a pillion I think the Heritage classic will do the Job. What's your opinion on this?
@@sudhan152 yes the Heritage is definitely better in that respect 👍🏼

imo the hydraglide is the truest Harley from the current line up… i just absolutely hate those cast alloy wheels
Still got my 97 Fat Boy. Never sell it.
