    They take a huge share of donations for their own needs and there are even times that no money makes it to the cause.
    The actual first place to go is u24.gov.ua/ this is United24
    It is a platform presented by president Zelensky.
    Secondly you might choose some volunteers that are helping Ukraine in various areas.

    The biggest problem that Ukraine had in Avdiivka were FAB glide bombs. 60+ per day were striking Ukrainian strong points. These have a 50KM range and are massively destructive. What can shoot down SU-34s at >50KM? Patriot, with PAC-2. And F-16s with long ranged AMRAMMs.
    The other problem was Denial. Why were no fallback fortifications built? The troops that have retreated are digging in. Why didn't engineers build fortifications well before they were needed? Big commercial excavators are much more effective in digging frozen ground than men with shovels.

    • @CellGames2006
      @CellGames2006 Před 3 měsíci

      Ukraine was supposed to be winning with a Massive Counterattack, not pulling back I guess... kind of hurts the optics if you say one thing and do another. Another example of not having a clear plan. You can't have plan B fortifications if you don't even have plan A.

    • @LordofTheFallen
      @LordofTheFallen Před 3 měsíci +7

      Do we actually know that no fortifications were built? I've heard people say it but nothing concrete. Ukraine predicted that Avdiivka was going to fall months ago, so they knew it was coming. Also, backhoes next to the frontline would be very easy targets. Most of the digging would indeed need to be done by hand because Russia could easily blow up any heavy equipment that was working in one spot.

      There were no fortifications built where they pulled back from Avdiivka, but a small ditch dug by hand, not deep enough for protection, according to a soldier in the 3rd AB, sadly.

      Don't be riddicules.
      Ukraine ARE building Fortification, but it is by far longer west of Avdivka.
      So that they are not in the line of Russian fire while they are building it.
      Avdivke was going to be left at some point, everyone could see this coming.

    All the bigger NATO countries pretty much refuse to act faster than "business as usual". When Germany was in danger of running out of gas/LNG in 2022, it took minister Habeck less than 2 weeks to put a few russia owned key companies under government control and restore their operations. When it comes to ammunition production, Rheinmetall reported 18 months(!) after Zeitenwende they didn't even receive a purchase order for ammunition yet, so they'd manufacture at half capacity. Minister here is Pistorius, his Wehrbeschaffungsamt is a well known bureaucratic, super slow time sink.

    • @Daxter250
      @Daxter250 Před 3 měsíci

      thats not true. pistorius is minister since january 2023. thats roughly a year, not 18 months, nor two years. and he took over a frigging disaster of a military. rheinmetall did receive money, else they wouldnt build a fucking new ammo factory now!
      the zeitenwende btw. has nothing to do with funding ukraine. it means that 100 billion euros go to the restauration of the german army to protect itself in the future.

      Monet once said: ""Europe will be forged in crises, and will be the sum of the solutions adopted for those crises". Considering the radical changes that have taken place in Europe, this is ringing true. The changes are permanent: military spending and production are on a significant rise. Everyone's talking about Europe having to take care of itself, with most finally putting real effort in it. It's moving slowly, but unfortunately we do have to build up from a very low point. For at least a year, it has sunk in at every leader (excl. Hungary) that it has past the point of return with nobody bothering to talk to Putin any more. It has now also sunk in and gained extra traction by Trump's speech that a war with Russia is becoming a real possibility. There's even talk about a European army, something that used to be only supported by the French but was an absolute no-no for the rest.
      Don't forget that we're now entering the third year of the war and that there's still a number of countries in Europe providing serious support for Ukraine, with most likely a number of countries doing this unofficially (I suspect the French to be one of them).
      The main problem currently is that while supporting Ukraine financially isn't a problem, the amount of military hardware and ammo that we can deliver is still limited - too limited to provide for Ukraine's needs. We still need the Americans for that. Unfortunately, they're an uncertain factor. But considering American politics is absolutely crazy, we can't rule out that they restart their supplies soon.
      Something that is definitely positive is that there's no significant support for a cease fire or giving the Russians territory. I don't think any one in Europe is thinking that another Minsk is going to cut it, especially since a number of intelligence agencies have shared information that Russia now does intend to see what Article 5 is worth. Giving up on Ukraine means that scenario becomes a real possibility. And if Russia really does actually have the nerve to attack a NATO country, then all bets are off. Because then we'll be entering uncharted territory. And nobody wants to sail into that territory. A defeat for Russia is therefore essential for the survival of Europe.

      Here's some encouragement:
      The U.S. election in November is only one of about 70 different elections taking place across the globe in 2024. Everyone who hated Trump before still hates him, and now there are many of his supporters who hate Russia more than they like him. Russia's biggest supporter, China, is on the verge of complete economic meltdown - set to be even worse than America's great depression 100 years ago.
      Their sacrifices were not in vain; they already changed the course of history. Instead of witnessing an exact repeat of WW2, Ukraine is showing us the version of history where Poland stood fast and stopped the Nazis in their tracks.

    One of the good news is that France is finally following in Germany's (and the UK's) footsteps, we've recently signed a deal to spend 3% of our GDP to boost our military production, along with providing equipment to Ukraine for the next 10 years (or until UA joins Europe, whichever comes first). It's consistent with what we've been saying for quite a while now, France has been preparing for a long war and will keep providing for as long as it can (even if it seems very little compared to some, I appreciate the will to make it last longer... and I hope you will too!). I'd advise you watch the latest meeting between Zelensky and Macron (from the 16th of February 2024, on BFM TV... it's available on CZcams but I'm unsure if there's any translation available), the tone has clearly shifted away from what was said in the early days of the invasion. France basically said they're very much aware what orcs are trying to do in the long run against Europe (turning countries against each other, hoping NATO would die by itself so they could isolate countries and have more influence over them individually), but it will only strengthen our support to Ukraine. I agree we could have had that wake-up call much sooner though... It saddens me to say this but the hybrid war goes way beyond just Ukraine now, to the orcs it was just a tool in their bigger plan, even if it means disrupting the whole world's economy. The threat is starting to be real enough for Europe to finally wake up. Which also mean Ukraine probably has a couple of tough years ahead of her (almost on their own IMHO) until Europe, and maybe the US, have reached a sufficient "velocity" to step up...

Time will tell, although it already feels like some leaders in Europe have taken the threat much more seriously in the last couple of months than in the entire last year. If you want a more accurate preview of what France has planned, the official document ("accord de coopération en matière de sécurité entre la France et l'Ukraine", from February 16th) is available in PDF format directly from the Elysée's website. An online tool should translate it just fine. From what I've read it's a big step in the right direction, far from that negotiation speech Macron used to have a couple years ago.

    • @ShmuPixel
      @ShmuPixel Před 3 měsíci

      @@FarsightAE Another thing is that France develops its own military equipment (as opposed to most EU countries, relying on US to provide). It increases the cost for research, maintenance, and also limits the amount that can be produced at once. Our military is known for being versatile, able to respond quickly anywhere in the world, but not on a large scale (which is exactly what we would need right now, it's much more about scale than it is about being adapted to any battlefield). We've also reduced our production capabilities over the years (along with Germany) in times of peace, so it will take time before our production capability is back to normal.

      So when someone decides they want to increase production of shells, they will have to wait years before this special machine is assembled, and only then can they start to produce new shells with it.

      @@alexanderboll8028 Yeah, Estonia just passed an enormous 1.2b aid package. Relative to GDP, that’s like the US passing a 600b dollar military aid for Ukraine. Anyway, it’s pathetic. Pass the word on via Twitter, YT and anywhere else you post. I know it makes a difference because when France got even a little criticism a month ago they went wild and said “no, we’re doing a lot.” They then did promise a bit more, but it was again a weak package.

      @@alexanderboll8028 Bulgaria has done a lot more than it appears because a lot of their aid has been secretive and non-published because Sofia has a strong pro-Russian faction. Also, Russian GRU agents have literally sabotaged many artillery factories and killed owners who were selling to Ukraine. RE: Belgium. Yes, they’re absolutely pathetic. They’re small enough it hardly seems worth the effort of campaigning against them. Maybe we need a hashtag to bring attention to these laggards (e.g., ShamefulAllies).

      @@alexanderboll8028 In absolute terms. France’s GDP is 54x bigger than Lithuania’s alone. Estonia, whose GDP is even nearly 50% smaller than Lithuania’s, has given nearly $2b while France…well, $633m. Utterly pathetic.

      Don’t be, we know that the majority of your population do not support the maga cult.
      Those of us who watch and who knew the USA well in years gone by also get that you’re hostages to the underhanded perversion of your democracy that the far-right groups have been planning against this day for years.
      You have your own fight to be fought against totalitarianism, and your Democratic representatives are doing it well but they need every single person of voting age to be active in support of democracy from now going forward.
      It’s a shitshow all round, in your house and in ours, that’s why Putin moved when he did.
      We will defeat these buggers, we’ve done it before, all of us together because we have no other choice.

Then you have americans fighting in Ukraine and organisations helping Ukraine with different things. Your speaker and his gang fucking us all right now..
      You americans have to do all you can do now to help Ukraine and the rest of the world and minimise the damage USA do to the world now..

      Don’t be, please.
      Those of us who knew the USA in days gone by know that the majority are of good reason.
      The battle that you’re now fighting against the potential for totalitarianism is real, but provided that you fight the battle well you will win.
      You have a wonderful group of Democratic representatives who are beating out the flames one by one. Keep supporting them and be loud about it, they will do their part.
      Democracies around the world had become complacent about our historic foe, that’s why Putz acted to take Ukraine when he did.
      We’ve come together to triumph against these buggers in times past, we’ll just have to do it again, together as we did before.
      I dearly wish that this had all happened when I was either 20 years younger or 20 years older. Younger and I’d have been more able to act and achieve, older and it’d probably have passed me by.
      Life is rarely convenient, but it is without doubt exactly what you make of it.
      Let’s not waste time on shame, be proud and achieve a little towards the goal every day.

      The Republicans don't seem to care that Americans are brutalizing them. At all. They are enjoying a long vacation (after having had Christmas vacation just a little over a month ago...) How brutal...
      No, they are laughing in your face guys. Once they have returned from their vacation, they will give Ukraine all the attention they think it deserves - zero. They will ignore all the Americans who support Ukraine, just like they have done for many month now. And Biden will do nothing, just complain about the behavior of the Republicans and shower Ukraine with empty words of support.
      From my point of view, both Republicans and Democrats are at fault regarding the failed support of Ukraine. Republicans more, because they took Ukraine hostage in their border problem. But Democrats too, because they do nothing.

(Johnson, Orban, Fico... even the f###ng Elon Musk...). I commented before that due the inaction of the allies to fix those problems, the only things we can do now are seeing painfully how Ukraine losses territory and learning from our mistake.
