That sword actually did not much dmg to Aztecs and Incas because they were agile it was the flue that killed the Aztecs and chicken pox and the Incas also got defeated because of those virus

Really fun episode. I wish you had spent a little time discussing the history of the conquistador sword, the Spanish swordsmiths, and the martial art of the Spanish swordsman.
Bight be a little late, but these are just shorts from the actual Forged On Fire show. In the actual episodes they discuss the history of these weapons in a little more detail than here. Pretty good show!

Fernando Hazziel Delgadillo Gonzalez when I looked up the spelling Montezuma was variant spelling. As for loving the Spanish I’m sure he didn’t appreciate being taken hostage and then taking that rock to the head or whatever killed him. I know his own people supposedly killed from throwing stuff after he tried to calm them down

His real name is Montectzomatzin and he was stoned to death as punishment to remove the emperor. Then the Aztecs killed most of the spaniards and around 50,000 indigenous enemies.

The one guy forged his sword entirely by hand in 5 days whilst having problems with propane. He's the winner for me, still both did a really nice job, beautiful blades👍

I think time was really an Issue, but the fit and finnish of the sword tell another tale in each one, and I mean, a wooden pommel?
I nearly vomited when he welded the guard on and put a wooden pommel on
The weld was not the worst I’ve seen but the pommel he did so good on everything else why did he have to get lazy then
its not about the weld in an of itself as much as what it does to the heat treat on the most vulnerable part of the weapon
I can already hear my old boss Buck yell from across the way "you welded what to what!!?" He had little time left i understand but...
He bent the rules there with that medallion pommel, it actually annoyed me when he used wood and not metal. And as for welding the guard into place, I just shook my head. The best man won.

Soon as I saw that guy break out the MIG welder, I knew he’d lose. The wood pommel was just overkill.

His sword was bent before he got there. I the last snapshot of his blade before the competition, you can see the handle is off to a little angle. It didn’t bend during the goat kill test
The winning blade is so nice. Might be one of the best weapons of the show
And the losing blade was unfortunately one of the worst because of the unfortunate circumastances causing it to be very weak
I just feel the need to point out that the judges will cut pigs and stuff in half in the first test and still feel the need to test its sharpness
Because usually the strength test will cause damage to the blade which would render it less sharp than it originally was.
Chopping and cutting are a bit different,plus a good blade needs to retain it's edge after being used so they are also testing that

Why are the sword flex tests the ones that freak me out the most?
I don't get it, why is it called "Conquistador sword"? It looks like the classic Spanish "espada ropera" (rapier sword), what's the difference?
J.F. Luiña Bousquet the Winner made a Conquistador militar model 50% cut 50 % stoched the guard is 100% right .... the other guy not make one roupera but a italian rapier.
The model conquistador is not a rapier or roupera the design, technique and use are different

umm... i think they were used to much more wicked weapons... the aztec "sword-club" maquahuitl, with its flint blade.. ouch. simply ouch. and both, aztecs and incas had padded and leather bodyarmor. you would be surprized, how well some layers of fabric and leather could protect one. :D
Make a sword associated with Gonzalo Fernandez de Cordoba. The sword's gotta have the full tang, the hand-and-a-half handle, the one-handed ricasso, the straight edges, the distal taper where the sharp point is, the gold-plated hilt, AND the two red cabochons. Just ta really have more creativity.
