All that from RockAuto for 35 bucks good deal. Yes they do rust out and leak. With the right tools made the job a whole lot easier. Thumbs up on this.
Just a helpful hint for others. You don't have to take out the 3 bolts and take the whole plastic housing out. You can just undo the 4 clips to take the cover off and then clip it back on.
Good job sir , esp good view appreciate the clear video and not over complicating teaching process
Thanks 🙏🏼🤝🏼
The last time I replaced mine I cut a hole about a 3 inch in diameter on the bottom of this plastic holder so water will drain out. A mechanic told me me this is what he does every time. This is a common problem on these cars
Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate you! Thanks for the “life hack” I’m hoping it won’t go out on me anymore but I’ll keep it in mind, and maybe other viewers will find this helpful! Thanks!
Thank you so much I think I can do it myself ❤ you save me money
Thanks for stopping by! Let us know how it goes!
Great video, thanks.
Super helpful!
I put my vacuum caps back on when I was installing it
I also get replaced the accumulator for my 04 Crown Vic here in Norway. I has got rusty hole in it, and was leaking . And the cluch for AC was cicking in and out caused by the pressure of the AC system. I also get this Four Seasons kit from Rock Auto with all spare parts. I did replaced the valvesensor for the servo at the same time. The steering has got an uneven feeling. Now all works propery again.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing, my first thought is, I didnt know that Rockauto ships world wide, that’s cool, Go Rockauto! I’m glad it all worked out for you, AC is so good to have and also the heat. Greetings to Norway ✌🏼
I see you added 3 ounces of oil and my grand marquis calls for 7ounces of oil. Should I just put 3 in? I've only changed the accumulator and didn't touch the compressor. Not sure on how much of the PAG 46.. thanks
Nice video thanks. You forgot to change the expansion valve though
You’re right I did. Thanks for stopping by!
I never understood what exactly does the A/C Accumulator do?? It's function? I have a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis also. So very glad I found your channel
It’s a compressor like in a ac unit
@@ALMUDDY NO. The Accumulator has no moving parts -- NOTHING LIKE a compressor.
It accumulates. Foreign matter water maybe? It's also called a dryer.
👍
thanks for stopping by, I appreciate you!
do you have a video when you charge the system??
Thanks for stopping by! Here’s a simple way…

Awesome video! After charging the ac system in moms car i noticed a large spot of freon on the driveway after she left the house. The compressor was working before she left and i was wondering if you or anyone else knows if i need to depressorize the system first? From what I'm reading there is a high and low side to the ac system... thanks
From what I just read, they do recommend to vacuum out any air out of the low side of the AC system. I didn’t do such step but if you have the opportunity or the ability to do so, I guarantee you it will serve you well, and probably the right step to make.
@@LoveWhatYouDrive are you talking about vacuuming it out after doing the job or before
@@danknitz9679 Before
Did you have to drain / depressurize your entire system beforehand? Or was it just that empty?
Thanks for stopping I appreciate you! It was empty, when I took parts off, there was no pressure in there! Worked out for my benefit.
I have a question, when you drove fast did your a/c started blow slightly or was it just completely dead
Hey thanks for your time! I appreciate you! Before I did all that and filled it with Freon, it didn’t blow any cold air, the ac pump wasn’t even turning on. My next project with the system is changing the o-rings in the unit itself. Sometimes it switches from windshield to face. Look out for the how to.
@@LoveWhatYouDrive gotcha thanks!!
My lincoln has this problem... What was you resolution
@@jy9174have this same issue... What was your resolution.
Where you located, can you fix my air on my 03 marauder 😫
thanks for stopping by! I appreciate you. you can follow the steps in the video to fix the problem if its the same one! never be afraid to get your hands dirty, that the fun part! good luck with your project!
you had to discharge the system before? you have to charge it after installing this right??
Yes it would be a good idea, my system had no pressure because of the rotted out canister.
So, you didn't have to put a vacuum on it?
No I didn’t, system was empty, new accumulator and filled with refrigerant and been going strong for 2 years and 2 months now.
i need help buying the right suction and discharge hose and the liquid line WITH THE ACCUMULATOR so my ac works
I went through RockAuto. They usually send the right things if you order the right parts.
@@LoveWhatYouDrive i go to rock auto to get the part number and then go to amazon and have them send to my house because i have prime and they come the next day. i want to change the liquid hose and the discharge hose and the suction hose can you hekp me
@crayshaunhenderson1265 👍🏼not sure how I can help you. You just described a perfect plan you have. 🤷🏻♂️
Why didn’t you replace the orifice tube
To tell you the truth I forgot.
What would a;; of this cost approximatly if I took it to a garage and had this work done?
Thanks for stopping by! To tell you the truth I have no idea what a shop would charge for this kind of work. The accumulator itself is not that hard to change. I think my biggest thing was to have the proper tools or more so the “fuel line tool” to get the line clips off.
They told me $600.
Oh wow that’s not cheap, but what is cheap these days anymore!
@@j.t.cooper2963 Complete fuckin ripoff. DONT DO IT.
Hm.I have to check this part in my Mercury..
Its the direct frame, not sub frame
Thanks for clarifying and stopping by! I appreciate you
I replaced mine last year with a Motorcraft part. Still made in China. 🤬 Oh, well it should last at least 15 years. The A/C is still working great and will freeze you out on a hundred degree day.
That’s for sure, anything to have a cooled down car and drive in comfort!
U didn't have to vacum the ac system¿
Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate you! I probably had to in a perfect world! But since it was no longer under pressure and I’m assuming it was like that for the 3 years it was parked before me I figured I’ll just fill it after changing the accumulator.
BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Thanks for stopping by! What does this mean? Lol
I think they were talking about the music😊 I could be wrong. @LoveWhatYouDrive
Thanks for clearing up…if that’s the case I would have to agree! I’m learning and I’ve learned a lot so far…have come a long way…and agree the music was a buzz kill on my first videos…
