  • The 2003-up Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Towncar have a corrosion prone A/C receiver / drier / accumulator because in 2003 Ford relocated the receiver in a plastic housing down on the lower front frame rail. In this video I will show you how to change it out in your driveway with tools that you can buy cheap. You don't have to pay the crazy auto mechanic / dealership prices that they charge for simple A/C repairs. I will list below some Amazon (Paid) links to the tools you can use to get this done cheap and easy. I will also list a link to the A/C accumulator I used in this project and the oil, o-rings, etc.

Ford charged me 500 some dollars to refill my refrigerant and check all my wiring and grounding. At the time I had a bad heating element for my cigarette lighter causing it to short out, so that would've been a 5 dollar fix had I known. I also figured the blend door actuator was shot which is why I wasn't getting a/c. Evidently that was the problem but at least they refilled my system. They didn't find any leaks but just this past week I went under my car to do an oil change and saw this unit had a leak. Honestly I'm just going to put the money in to buy the parts and tools instead of paying overpriced labor costs, I'm more than capable of doing it myself anyhow.

Mine went right after an oil change, spent a day trying to find an oil leak. It dumped a good bit out today and I could see the colour, then I knew 😅

Great video - about to replace this on my 2011 P7B. When the shop empties the system (for free), the oil isn't emptied as well? Just wondering because it looked like you only added the oil from the old accumulator, then a little more. And it says the system requires 7oz
