I just did my 2003 Grand Marquis rear bumper. I got the heavy duty ties for the ends , And 2 thinner to bring up the middle thru that thin slot. It looks great . I can see why it would improve the M P G. Now more aerodynamic. I took it up that the tabs touched the metal bumper. It not too high it looks great. I'm 68 and did this, guys it's easy. Thank you to all who post helpful videos.
Thank you so much @John Hlavaty for the testimony! I appreciate you trying this and it working out for you! Yea it so easy and effective! Enjoy!
I can tell you what will happen. The zip ties will break while you are driving down the road, you won't know it, the inside of the bumper will catch air, and get ripped off. I have replaced quite a few rear bumper covers on Panther cars, you wouldn't believe just how flimsy they are.
Id noticed that but never gave it any thought. Thanks for a neat idea to impove the look. 👍😎
No problem! I also love the simple clean look and small and quick tinkering idea! Thanks for stopping by!
The "tuck" definitely makes it look more sporty.
Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate you! I loved it first time I saw it! Clean, simple, cheap!
At first I thought it might make the car look junky but the end result is really nice. Much better. Doing it to my new to me(1 YR) 08 Merc G.M.LS. as soon as possible.
Regardless of fuel economy it looks great! Nice cheap quick mod!
Thanks I appreciate you stopping by! That’s what I said when I ran into it. Simple little clean up and clean look!
Thanks for the post, always enjoy your clean informative videos. Just picked up a 2005 vic, not a police unit but it has dual exhaust and 3.27 gears and with only 83k. Runs strong. I like the tuck, gives it a wide stance. God bless you and take care. ,🙏🚓
Thanks for the kind words…you got a nice low mileage Vic! I like Crown Vics and hoping to get one one day!
Right on Art,
Good video.
-Chuck
Thanks Chuck!
I think I'll be doing this to my 2011 Grand Marquis when I can get it on the lift at work to drench all the exhaust fasteners in penetrating oil.
Very cool ☺️ looks good
Thanks for your time!
I have a 2001 MGM just did this mod the minute I got done watching and had to subscribe thanks so much keep the content coming!!!
Reggie thanks so much for stopping by, I appreciate you! Glad this helped you! Love these simple little projects!
Air drag, eliminating under flow air drag. Yes and it does work to improve gas mileage. And it does look good you got rid of that sagging lower bumper lip. I'm your 63rd sub. Thumbs up and thanks for showing this.
Thank you so much for stopping by and the sub,I appreciate you! The gains might not be tremendous but every little bit helps. I love the look of the tuck! Thanks again!
This Bumper Tuck mod will NOT give a measureable fuel mileage improvement -- because the GAP between the back edge of the fuel tank and the bumper IS STILL THERE.
The Bumper Tuck LOOKS great, but you won't save much gas, if any.
Not so, Julio -- the Bumper Tuck doesn't ELIMINATE under-flow air drag -- it only LESSENS it, and not very much, because the large GAP between the gas tank and the bumper is STILL THERE, allowing the air to flow off the bottom of the gas tank and straight into the inside of the bumper where you put the Ty-wraps.
To really SOLVE the problem, I used a flat sheet of metal, 40 " wide, and long enough to span between the gas tank and the bumper. It's SMOOOOOTH under there, now !
The Bumper Tuck looks great, but you'll need a wide, flat plate under there to get a milegae gain.
I know this because I did this whole thing over ten years ago.
damn the undercarriage cleaner than a 5 star hotel
Thanks for stopping by! The car was originally a Washington state car, well
Preserved.
Looks clean
Thanks, I appreciate you!
Looks awesome ! Let us know if it improves gas mileage too
Will do thanks for stopping in and checking out the channel!
The "Bumper Tuck" WILL NOT improve your fuel mileage. Period.
It LOOKS LIKE it would, but careful mileage calculations over a period of YEARS shows that it just doesn't give any mileage gain at all.
Fact is, most people don't know how to measure their fuel mileage ACCURATELY, which results in all sorts of exaggerations and blatant errors.
After learning that the Bumper Tuck gives no mileage benefit, a flat metal sheet was installed to bridge the GAP between the gas tank and the bumper -- which actually DOES give a mileage gain of .20 --.25 mpgs AT FREEWAY SPEEDS, but NOTHING around town.
Nice Grand Marquis!!! Like the Mod too! Thanks for the info!
Hey thanks for coming by! And thank you it’s a work in progress!
@@LoveWhatYouDrive I really like these cars and I’m trying to learn from folks like yourself! So much you can do with them!!!
@@JZ_Cars ye you are right, I’m learning something new almost everyday about these cars from other owners and channels
@@LoveWhatYouDrive no doubt!!! All I really know is how to clean em up nice lol but in due time I want to learn a lot more
They make metal zip ties , use them instead !……. I used them for my Marauder !
Thanks I will definitely replace it, so far it’s holding strong!
@@LoveWhatYouDrive My local hardware store ( True Value ) carries theses metal zip ties .
Cool
Thank you! It was a quick, lil project for that clean factor of a mod. It’s one of those “if you know, you know” type of mods! I appreciate you stopping by!
Very good
Thank you!
I like 👍🏻
Thanks for stopping in! I appreciate you!
I'm going to try that on my 2001 Mercury Grand Marque
Thank you for stopping by and watching this video, I appreciate your time. Let me know how it goes.
I'm finna buy the same year how has it bene so far?
It’s been an amazing car! And one year I take it to North Michigan in January, I took it down to Florida and I’ve been driving it around with zero issues. Love this car man! In one year I put on 23,000 miles while my other car sat there because I love this one so much.
@@LoveWhatYouDrive lol does it put you back in the seat and if not can you make it
FYI
2017 Explorer wheels look like Marauder wheels powder coated silver.
18x8 44 mm
Use a 1.5" spacer ($100) on pre '03 old style suspension.
$150 set of 4 wheels = 98% perfect 👍👍
I’ll look into it! I’m always keeping my eyes peeled for a new wheel setup that’s oem-ish and affordable but still an upgrade. Thanks again for the tip !
I think it's awesome
Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate it! I also think it’s awesome. 👍🏼
Looks "sporty" like a Mustang touch. Appropriate for a Marquis.
Thanks for chiming in! I appreciate you! And agreed 💯
I DO "Love What I Drive", thank you, because I'm very close to the famous 95 MERC --we've been together for over 17 years -- during which time I have restored/modified the car for long-distance, high-speed touring of the deserts and mountains of the Southwestern U.S.A..
I see by your number of subscribers that you are NEW here, and not very familiar with modifications to Panther automobiles.
Please don't take a fence, but your "Bumper Tuck" mod has been done many times before, and some folks have DONE this mod, they KNOW how well it works (or doesn't), and there you are.
You may wanna check out "Mr. Random" s (The Godfather of Panthers) videos -- you're SURE to like and learn !!
If mileage is that critical, drop the front springs 1 to 1.5 inches.
If this rear bumper really mattered, Ford would have caught it in their wind tunnel.
Logic doesn't apply to 90% of the population.
Looks more appropriate
Thanks for your time watching! That’s what I said as well!
First thing I did to my car
Thanks for stopping by I appreciate you!
I have not done it to my Town Car and think of at all the savings on fuel would be very minor. It looks good on your vehicle though. On the town Car I don’t think it would look the best.
I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen a town car with a saggy bumper, or this tuck done on a town car but maybe it is useful I’m not sure.
I did it to my Marauder... I didn't like how it came out. Looks better with the smaller tail pipes.
Ye I’ve seen done that looked overkill or maybe they tied them up too tight! But thanks for stopping by!
Whatever floats your boat. It seems to be much ado over nothing.
Just looks
Yeah I don't really see any difference in looks either. Seems like a good way to get a busted up bumper cowl if the zip ties break though which wouldn't make for a very good look
@danielsmit11 on my car it wasn’t that saggy but it still made a difference, but there’s some “saggy diaper” bumpers out there that could really use the lift
@@LoveWhatYouDrive like Gus McCray would say "the older the violin the sweeter the music"
Just did mine and looks good just hate the rattling rubbing sounds it now makes
Im thanks for stopping by! I’ve never had that issue with noise or rattling, maybe secure it better. Is it flapping in the wind or rubbing something?
@@LoveWhatYouDrive I have it tight but I’m too scared to over tighten them and end up making the bumper look funny
@@LoveWhatYouDrive I just tightened the zip ties a little more gonna see if that helps I’ll let u know tho
Ye I agree 💯 if you over tighten it will be too curled up and might look lil funny…I was also careful to keep it even and natural flowing! Let me know thanks!
I hate how far the front and back bumber sticks out
I like the look of this but I'm worried about the zip ties snapping the first time I drive over a bumpy road with heavy shit in the trunk
I’ve had mine on since the video, still have no issues, I check the zip ties periodically but so far so good! I’ll probably use more heavy duty ones they use for hvac or something…good luck!
Why would a trunk load matter?
Use metal zip ties !
Can you look into pimping out my ride?
Thanks for stopping by. I will give Xzibit a call and see if he’s available to come out and pimp out your ride! 😂
Why not shorten the bracket to avoid the zip ties
Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate your time and watching this video. The factor of ease and time. I’m sure the proper Way is to shorten the bracket. Maybe in the near future I’ll go about it.
I hate how far the front and back bumber sticks out
I can't do that with mine. My rear bumper is steel
Lol it won’t work, what are you have?
I have a 2008 crown Vic with Kevin chop shop custom steel front and rear bumpers raptor liner paint job with pre cat back straight pipe exhaust with 17inch long 5and 3/4 inch diameter tips that was made from newer model Toyota Camry resonators
I have 04 marquis. Can u stop by and do that for me,? I'm in Chicago.
Instead of giving you the 🐟 I’ll tech you how to 🎣!

Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate you!
I don't like It.I wont do this in my Marquis.
Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate you! The beauty of car culture is we do what we like and want not what people think we should do! Good luck on your project! I’ll follow!
@@LoveWhatYouDrive Thanks.I can't do any mods bicouse my car is registerd as antique.I just can't.
Don't troll marquis lovers bro..
No 🧌
Not a mod lmao I don’t see the reason but ok cool ig
Thanks for stopping by I appreciate your time!
I honestly think the only thing that gets accomplished here is getting your clothes dirty.
Thanks for stopping by, I should make a video separate just for that segment alone. Yes there was a lot of clothes that got dirty in the process of making these videos.
NAH. This "mod" is so easy to do that it can be done while completely naked, thus saving your laundry chores.
Snake oil mod . Ridiculous
How is it a snake oil mod?
It’s not taking your money.
It’s not promising any benefit.
It’s not giving false hope.
It’s just a bumper tuck.
lol 😂 I don’t know how you feel threatened or lied to.
Nah I don't want to bend the bottom of my bumper. Thanks for the useless info though.
You’re welcome! I appreciate your views and boosting my algorithm with your useless comment 🤝🏼
