Thank you so much for posting this video. I have the same boots and they almost look identical in their current condition. I don't get why everybody recommends not treat nubuk leather. It clearly dries over time and seems dull and less contrasty. I will order the same product now and do exactly as you did. Thanks mate.

I like the result, thanks for sharing. If you want a darker colour I don't see the issue in doing this. Personally I think they look better after conditioning.

Thank you. Sometimes you have to throw away the text book and take a calculated risk.

It really turned out to be quite lovely. I'm currently wearing the Captain in the Canyon color. We'll see if it gets to the point where I need to do this.

I have the very same boots but I never warmed up to the Arizona Adobe. I ended up conditioning them with Huberd’s Shoe oil which turned them closer to a Tobacco colour. Definitely easy to ruin a pair of these unless you want a darker appearance.

Nice vid hants!I have presidents in tobacco.I've had them for couple years now.i cleaned them once, with highly diluted dishwashing soap.came out fine.Made them look like it just came out of the box.But i'm concered about the condition of the leather.im thinking its time for another cleaning, and am searching for something else to use.How about posting a follow up vid. Thanks!

Great idea. I've done my tobacco and my daughter's black. I'll work on it.

You ever think about trying the conditioner on your skin?

I just received these and they are much darker than I expected. Did yours lighten up over time? I suspect mine are so dark because they might be over conditioned out of the box. I will wear mine daily, but maybe wait at least 6 months before my first condition. I don’t expect not to condition these, no matter what they say. It’s leather and will eventually need it. There are conditioners that don’t darken much if any, like Venetian Leather Balm.

James, it's a continuous process : condition - wear - lighten and scuff - condition again. Just don't overdo it and stick to lighter less intense conditioners like Bik4.

Why not use the spray that Trenton recommends?

    • @hantswalker5215

I have the spray but haven't used it yet. It adds colour and a little conditioner.

I don't consider darkening the leather the end of the world, especially on an older boot...

    • @hantswalker

Exactly. I prefer a richer tone to the washed out look.

SAPHIR RENOVATEUR PROTECTING NUBUCK SPRAY IS BETTER

    • @hantswalker
      @hantswalker Před rokem

Good point. I find the spray works better on some colours rather than others. I use it to great effect on my daughter's black nubuck. The brown spray reduces the red on Arizona Adobe.

Wierd! I have observed some penetration of waxes and cream when I use my hands when conditioning boots.
