This pair of Thursday Boot Captains were mailed to our shop for a resole. After removing the old Thursday Boot rubber soles and heel pads, we changed them out with Dainite soles and top lifts. We also used some Saphir conditioner and cream to hydrate the leather and make them look new again. These boots look so much better, and they're now on their way back to the owner. Time for another restoration!

“Why were the insoles not replaced?”. We’ve received this question quite a number of times below, so I’ll save you the time and answer it. For one, this video is titled “...Resole”...meaning it’s exactly that. A resole. Also, these are $200 boots brand new. We’ve put out other videos showing us replacing insoles, and it’s a tedious and expensive job. The crack in the insole will not make a difference in the way this boot feels or functions. We replaced the liners, which we did not show, so the owner won’t feel anything going forward. Again, we do what the customers pay for. Sometimes we add a bit to shoes/boots in our videos for entertainment and to be generous. Replacing the insoles on this pair would not have been worth it financially. 👍
Love how you guys are straight forward and care about how to take care of the customer. Not trying to nickel and dime them. Just making sure what they need and what fits them for their shoes/boots. Keep the videos coming. Learning a lot from you guys!!
Good on you for telling it like it is. :)
What? No $500 repair of a $200 boot? My pair were seconds so they were less than $150 (bad speed hook, replaced with grommets)
When this type of thing is found, do you contact the customer to let them know and see if they want to replace the insole, or do you not worry about it since it's not worth it financially and it doesn't affect the function/feel of the boot?
I was just going to ask that very same question. This post helped me not doing that :)
Ahh. Coffee. Donuts. And a Trenton and Heath resole video. Great way to start a Saturday
Amen to that!
We really appreciate that! Thank you so much. 🍩 ☕️ 👞👍
Joseph Noa I saved the video for the evening. I instead went to a 9am meeting with some Friends of Bill W. It's a hour well spent. And now I'm enjoying the video.
I love donuts man. But I cut it out of my life. Replaced it with a good workout. That and my boots are making life awesome.
I usually wind my day down with them. So relaxing.
I started to pay more attention to my shoes because of this channel and the information you guys provide. This is very educational. Thank you for the videos, guys! Love from Brazil!
Thank you so much for watching!
For $200, Thursday seem to provide a lot of value. Kudos to them.
Yeah, but if you have to pay 120 to resole them there are basically no point of doing that
@@kosta2177 but that's saving $80
@@bmo61950 no, you are not. Your boots will not be like new after the years of wearing out
@@kosta2177no but they will be broken in and good for the life of an entire new boot. Basically a better boot than new.
Exactly! Broken in boots that have been re-soled are better than new boots @@user-zt2zx1wp2d
There's something satisfying about watching life being put back into something that many individuals who didn't know better would discard rather than have repaired/restored. My great great great grandfather was a shoemaker in 1841 in Wales, UK so I find your work fascinating.
New meme at 9:06: "Hydrate yer boots y'all." ;-)
Yeesssssirr.
"I'm Marreh Poppins y'all!"
Put that on a T-shirt!
Those look great! Love watching the craftsmanship and the love for what y'all do.
Excellent rework and finish
Every time I watch one of these my favorite part is the hot cork I swear I could watch that all day!
Outstanding, great work.
Great work on these! Lovely finish and they look good as new!!!
Sipping coffee on a cool, mercifully drizzle-free Seattle Sunday morning, and watching a resole. This is shiny. Mahalos!
Every time you break out the cork, I get a strange craving for a granola bar. It's a mystery.
😂
I love the hot iron thing...its like a roller smoothing over rough asphalt on the road. (plus the sound) all adds to the granola bar crazing.
LOL
I was gonna say the same thing, it looks delicious
WHAT IS THIS SORCERY
Thanks for letting me know about these boots, Ill be looking into them. Charles
Love watching your work. That Southern accent is a plus
Very nice work on these Thursday boots. I really enjoyed watching this restoration & loved the turnout on these pair of boots. They look brand new. Cool! 💕
Heath: "Let's keep going"
Bedo: "Yesss"
😁
"Let's continue"
Next up “ Hammer Time!”
hahaha Alright, lets continue * thumbs up *
Beautiful! Well done.
Man, applying the cork seems like it’s really satisfying!
Y'all should do a compilation of ironing the cork.
Hmmm
Great video. I love seeing how shoes are put together and how you take them apart and rebuild them.
My man! You are a true master of your craft. Fantastic job!
I’m amazed at the detail and craftsmanship you put into your work. Great videos.
Why do I find this so satisfying!?
There is such peaceful, zen like quality to these videos
I love these kind of videos! Explaining the shoe quality but seeing how equipment is prepared is 👍🤘
Best line ever: "Hydrate your boots y'all!" Love the channel!
Those Thursday's look outstanding. The red stitching on the outsole has real pop.
what an awesome job!!! they look so good
A true craftsman. No matter what it is you do when you do it at this level it's cool to watch.
Been looking to get a first pair of boots and i might end up with some of those captains. I love how timeless leather boots are and the fact that you can resole and condition them to last years and years.
That red thread on the bottom looks so good!
There are not too many things that bring me small joys, but cleaning, brushing and polishing my boots is one of them. I love the "Polish" stage before T and H video's are done.
Outstanding video and quality craftsmanship. Great stuff
I paid particular attention to this one as I have the very same pair of boots. I love them, I think they're a really good value.
Beautiful work !!! ...I really like the Captain model in Thursday boots.
I was thinking: "YES!!" right up until the paper foot bed. Ugh. Amazing, what a little leather conditioner will do for a pair of hoof-covers. Nice repair.
Magic, absolute wizardry!!!... you guys are good!!
Nothin like a good ole pair of Thursdays! Love your guy's stuff.
That was really satisfying to watch.
Woke up and the first thing that pops on youtube are my unconditioned (sorry) boots! Awesome! Thank you so much guys. Even my wife watched the whole video with me and son about to rewatch. Keep up the great work and will be sending some more!
Awesome! So happy you like them and for sharing our videos with family.
Hey! Was just curious, which color did you end up going with for these Thursday’s?? They’re gorgeous
This is Thursday's brown Captain. The leather has red and purple tones, so I'm not sure why they call it brown. But it's a really nice color, anyhow..
@@ergrainger9195 thank you!! Never made sense to why I see so much variation and none of the pictures of people having the boots look like the pictures on the Thursday site..
Beautiful job!!!!
Excellent resole job! 👞
I always love the vibrant colors of the thread/stitching, great video!
Thank you!
I really love the look of a well worn pair of Thursday boots
Good job.
Not sure why this is satisfying to watch but I really enjoy the craftsmanship
Superb video chaps🇬🇧
Amazing re-sole gents truly top notch!
Beautiful!
great work man
I love this, just got a pair of these and I love them, also you are my zen before morning...
I have to say watching the hot cork process is so satisfying.
I don't know why but watching that hot cork getting applied is like the most relaxing, soothing thing ever. :)
Bloody awesome video, well done!
The last shoe shop for a hundred miles went out of business ten years ago.
My father was in the same outfit in WWII with the local shoe and bike shop owner in town.
Spent a lot of time in there as a kid.
I could almost smell it watching this great video !
Thanks for sharing.
My friend you are a master in your trader.never realized the complexity of a boot making..great video
The video has a really chill vibe to it, I like it a lots
You guys are awesome!
Very informative. Great video.
I know really nothing about how boots are made, but watching this was just so SATISFYING. Beautiful to watch.
after watching many of these videos, i purchased a pair of Thursday Boots Captains. out of the box comfort!
look amazing feel great and would not have heard of them if not for the videos.
Really great work. I love these videos.
Great work! For the price, the boot looks well built.
Well , just got mine and overall , they seem to be a good quality ( not amazing quality) boot.
I am happy with mine . I’m 70 years old and they’ll out last me probably. You are , by far , the best cobbler I have ever seen. This isn’t your first Rodeo, you are a hand . Cheers from your newest subscriber from California !
My favorite new Saturday morning tradition. Awesome work gentlemen.
Thank you for watching, sir.
That’s a very interesting. As someone who never does any manual labor myself I’m always fascinated to watch a master craftsman at work
looking really good 💚
A machine can never replace the true craftsmanship, time, patience and experience of a true craftsman like this. Outstanding Job!!!
Terrific video 👍
Man, you guys got me wanting to start working on my own boots. As if I didn't have enough tools as a machinist. I've been scouring Ebay for Cobbler tools, now. 😅
WOW, that was awesome!
I'm on vacation and while the wife is getting ready I saw you posted this video. I'm glad I didn't have to break my Sunday morning tradition 😊
Wow these came out great
Wow Amazing work .,
Love watching your videos
Almost 200k! Let's do it. Great craftsmanship
Beautifully done!
Thank you very much!
loved this
Highlight of my day.
Lovely job with those boots.....like new!
I found your video while searching how to clean my son's Thursday boots. I had no idea that they needed to be hydrated!! Thank you for this helpful information. We just cleaned them up and they look amazing!!
really enjoyed this video!
Amazing as usual just like new
Love watching yall !! All the way from Houston tx
Fantastic! They look amazing👍👍😀. I have a pair similar to those that I need to dig out - after several years of wear, the sole started coming off of one and I tossed them in my closet somewhere👀🤦🏼♂️.
I melt when he spreads the cork with his hot iron tool! I bet the fumes smell wonderful too!
Good job 👍
Awesome video guys! I think what sets your work apart from other channels is the way that you explain each aspect so comprehensively & patiently.
Continued success gentlemen, as you approach 200,000 subscribers!
Thank you so much for watching!
Look at those old tools. That's pretty cool.
These videos make me want to go out and buy a couple of expensive, well-made shoes!
I don't know why but this was so satisfying to watch.
great video, thanks for sharing!
nice looking job.
Great way to start a Sunday
Wonderful work, wonderful video. As always! Thanks!
Thank you so much!
I love your video, camera angles, and editing skills. I used to be a shoeshine boy in downtown San Jose, CA in the 70's I made a lot of money as a boy, back then there were more businessmen that wore leather shoes/Suits. I still do and I still use heel plates to save my heel/toe on my leather bottoms. (old school)
Thank you for sharing Angel from The Bay Area, CA
you guys are awesome. Straight up Respect. You guys truly work some magic on dem boots. Most respectable trade id say. Thank you for your service. I cant wait to wear out my boots i just today- just so i can send em your way. !
