One of my fondest memories of my Dad comes from the wonderful smell of him polishing his boots and showing me how to do the same. My children say the same about me, so this channel just warms my heart. I need to order some conditioners, creams, because all I have been doing is polishing......but not anymore. Thanks for sharing your passion with us!
Mark Lavergne Mark Lavergne so you so much. We started out shining my dad’s flight boots. Loved it so much!
I love your comment.. such tradition!!
GREAT MEMORIES! I too have been only waxing...never knew...
Tgnlfdh
Same! I remember one of the fondest memories from my father is shining together our leather shoes. I guess it's one of the things that a father teaches his son as he goes into manhood.
My husband has been watching your show for a long time and has purchased a pair of boots for our 14 year old daughter. She loves to watch it with her father while doing homework and has learned so much about the ins-and-outs of boots because of you guys. Thank you
earth2niki That’s awesome! Thank you for sharing. Get them started early. 😉
It's honestly amazing how just after a good brushing, they already looked worlds better.
When I see a Trenton & Heath video, I put everything down and click.
I really love your videos!
Yazza Yap Thank you so much! We really appreciate you watching!
Same here, my groceries are waiting in the kitchen to get sorted!
@trenton & Heath - is it okay to have just one horse hair brush? or do you guys actually use 2 horse hair brushes thats specifically for dirt and one for shine. Thanks!
@@MrDW72 I use two, like you said, one for cleaning and one for buffing (after they've been conditioned). I mark the handles so I don't get them mixed up. I'm no authority on the matter, but that's my approach.
@@kit2770 Actually, it's best to use three: one for cleaning; one for brown/burgundy shoes, and one exclusively for black! It's best to not use your black brush for your other shoes!
I was just gifted a pair of Frye Boots, still in the box, with cardboard inserts, paperwork, tissue paper and a receipt from a former local shoe store from here in my hometown with the date 11/12/1982.
My goodness, those are handsome boots. I find the Captain to be a great looking boot and after getting the treatment here in the vid, oooh baby, she looks good. It's hard to look away. 😍
Watching these shoe care videos brings back childhood memories of when I shined my shoes almost every Sunday night, using a folding shoe holder on the pantry door, a brush, Kiwi wax, a rag for applying the wax and another for buffing to a ‘spit’ shine.
I enjoy using a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol or acetone and rub it along the stitching.. The stitching becomes clean and white again and pops against the uppers color.. Really makes your shoes look new..
Never had anyone to teach me this kind of thing and just cleaned up and polished my leather boots for the first time since I've owned them for a year. They look like a million bucks now, thanks for the video man
Thanks for continuing to make new videos for us. Other channels would rather show off photos of their $1000+ boots, but y'all continue to give us the content we crave.
staguar thank you very much! We try to mix it up a bit so folks don’t get bored. 😀
That brown Saphir stuff is an instant MIRACLE on that toe!!
This is so incredibly relaxing to watch
These videos contain great and helpful info. Thanks, guys, for keeping current haircuts! That’s the first thing I noticed!
Thanks! This was the perfect guide for my Thursday Presidents! I’ll be using this guide for years to come!
What a great thorough explanation of how to take care of a boot! Bravo
I'm going to be needing your shoe products. Thank you for the tutorial.
Thank you so much for making these videos. They are super therapeutic, and makes me really happy seeing these used boots come back to life with some love and some shoe cream!
Love how they come back to life!! I want a pair of leather boots now.
Super helpful. Great video. Appreciate the work you do, please keep it up!
"ready to go" is really fitting when it comes to shoes^^
That's an amazing restoration job, the boots look 100x better than they did! Great video as usual.
Great video! That boot is looking pristine!
I have those boots. Super happy with them. Thanks for the video.
Man what an insane transformation! ❤
Thanks for the tutorial.
So good!! Apparently not only repairing videos are satisfying.
Good to see yall did just about exactly the same that I did to my Captains over the weekend (I used wax at the end)
Wow! Those look great after the cremes and buffing
Always thought I knew how to condition my boots well, but I have still learned a bit more from you guys. Thanks for the fantastic video. And by the way I also swear by the Sapphire products. Your got a new subscriber!
I took a look at your site right after the video and placed an order for some of these products. Liked and subscribed! Can’t wait to see more of your work. Keep it up!
Fantastic tutorial, great music, perfect volume 5 stars.
OMG those boots been through several marathons Great work on the boots
I used the Saphir Renomat on my Presidents after a particularly dusty trip to west Texas last year. It did the trick.
Awesome video thanks for the advice!
I bought Saphir products today and watching your tutorials. Its an amazing transformation. Gonna use it on my Dan Post Mignon Black Cherry boots. Thank you for the information. Much appreciated.
i really wish i saw your video before i decided to clean my boots all on my own. this is really good and as someone that is new to boots very imformative.
I just got my Captain boots today!
Excellent! You added before and after shots!
thechief043 Thank you! We appreciate you watching.
Thank you so much for the informative video. I bought a relatively in nice condition Thursdays at a thrift store and after following your advice, they look better than brand new. Thank you again.

For the natural color Thursday boots, what type of cream color should I use??
I love this channel.
Awesome video!!
Awesome video.. yall rock.!
I have Thursday captains in this color. Thanks so much for this video!!
Which color is this?
It's currently Thanksgiving Eve 2022 and this saved my cowboy boots that I'm wearing to my wife's parents house. Thank you my friend. You earned a subscriber
Great tutorial thanks very much
I had a drill instructor that would have had you shine that boot until he could see his reflection. Ha ha.
A good video. Lots of younger people have no clue about caring for leather footwear. You provide knowledge. Thanks a million.
It’s amazing after cleaning and doing a boot shine this pair of boots look amazing. Thanks for sharing the video. Have a good evening.
Joaquin -Jack Nava Thank you! Yeah, it doesn’t take much. Very easy to do.
Love the channel! Could you guys do a video on how to clean and condition exotic boots, something like Caiman, Gator, etc.
I am not the only one enjoying that beautiful sound!! Right?
WONDERFULLLL.... GREAT JOB MAN
Great video. Should we use the water proofing spray on new Thursday boots? And on all their models? Thanks!!
Hey Trenton and Heath, awesome videos very informative and helpful. Keep up the good work. I’m looking for some advice on a pair of red wing work boots I have the 2412 models. Wondering how often I should be cleaning them and recommended products. Any advice Is appreciated thank you!
Great stuff Thank you !!
Thanks for this, a skilled cobbler sharing his knowledge.
I have a question if that alright, should I be hydrating the inside of the boot at all?
Whoa!! this is amazing, thank you so much for sharing.
is the brush you use for cleaning at the beginning the same that you used later on?
Thank you on your video, I learned a lot about leather shoes, is DM shoe is the same as other leather shoes
Can you do a video about eyelet maintenance? Maybe polishing or deburring/smoothing?
Awesome timing. Just bought Venetian Cream and a Horse Hair Brush to do just this to my Captains. Thank you!
Awesome! You’re welcome!
What conditioner/cream would you recommend for rough out leather ? Your videos are always clear and informative. Thank You !
Love my Thursday Captains. So much so that I’m going to buy another Thursday Boot. I think I going for one of the distressed leathers this time as I’m going to shift them to daily wear and keep the Captains as dress boots. Just not sure which model I’m going for yet.
So glad to hear that you are loving your boots :)
Can you do a video some time comparing Allen Edmonds speed welt and feather welt, compared to traditional bench welt, and what you think of them?
Thanks for the video. I’ve been looking for one that showed using the waterproof spray. I just got a new pair of boots and I’m assuming I can use this same process.
Great Video, thanks! What type of cloth do you recommend for applying the shoe cream?
This is really helpful! Do you use a different brush for dusting the boot in the beginning and then one for buffing?
The pommadier cream color used is "08 Bordeaux". You can see the label at 6:43
I left a pair of clogs outside during a week of heavy rains and very hot weather. They were stiff as a board and had shrunk so much that my heel hung over the back edge. I massaged them inside and out with coconut oil over 5 days and now they look and feel soft and supple as when I got them! I have Bick 4 that I use on my cowboy boots and they look good after I use it but it just doesn't seem to last very long; think I might try coconut oil on them also.
OMG Trenton! Those boots look good enough to eat - you are truly the « Master Finisher » in your team!
Musiciens Montréal thank you very much!
For that color cream which one on their site is the Burgendy. I have these exact boots and need to do this to them. Thank you!
Excellent information!! I just purchased my first pair of "good" boots, not "throw out" type brands. I purchased Thursday Captains in brown and wanted to know if I should do anything to them before wearing them such as waterproofing? Thanks for help!
Great to see you again...stay safe.
What's old is new again..once these boots would be called " high button shoes"
Alton Riggs Thank you! 👍
Great video, I have the same boots! Quick question though, what is the difference between the Saphir Renovateur and the Saphir Creme Universelle?
Good work learns a lot shoe repair
Thank you! We appreciate you watching.
people are literally doing triple takes on my boots lol its a joy 🎉
I love this video. If you ever wanted to do my Parkhurst.
These guys are amazing! If you like nice shoes, how to care for them, spot quality, etc. subscribe and turn on your notifications. I have this exact pair of boots. I e-mailed the Potter and Sons contact e-mail on their website with a few questions and Trenton replied personally and promptly. I bought all of the supplies from them to do this and you should too! Competitive pricing, prompt shipping and courteous professional advice. Just to clarify, if you have brown chrome leather Thursday boots, like these Captains or the similar President boot, Trenton clarified with me that he used Saphir Bordeaux color polish on the upper and tobacco on the heel block. Buy from them and keep supporting the channel!
Love the video. Could you all do a roughout video too? I have muleskinner and a Yuma leather from RW that I would like to get some help with.
Now how do you clean and hydrate the leather on the Thursday Grizzly Wheat, Terracotta, or any "Rugged" leathers (Tobacco, Arizona Adobe, Black Matte, and Burnt Copper) boots?
I check your channel on daily basis.
Great video
beautiful!
Great videos! Would really enjoy a Clark's Desert Boot resole clip
Wow they look brand new
I hope you do this for Thursday Boot rugged line like the vanguard.
I read the title....
I thought about it, but no, I don't have need to learn how to clean and condition my Thursday boot captain! He's good! He is a captain after all...I taught him well....lol
Heath and Trenton - I'm not a shoe guy, but I'm shoe show guy - I love your channel.
Hi guys, love the video. I've got a pair of Natural Captain boots and was wondering what color of Saphir you would suggest. Looks like they've got a 'Light Brown' and a 'Neutral' which seems to be clear. Another question, would it be an issue if I used the Burgundy you're using in the video? Would it be streaky because the boots are lighter to begin with?
Hi, love your videos. Can I use dubbin instead of the spray on top? I put on for waterproofing and further nourishment but I saw some of the creme polish colours on my rag. It's a smooth leather boots btw.
Amazing transformation. The beautiful patina on these boots was completely hidden by all the dust and grime. The owner needs to step up (or just begin) his shoe care game. Easy stuff, just brush them quickly after each use, and hydrate once a month. My Iron Rangers look just like these at the end, that gentle shine. I love that look. Thanks for another great video!
Dr Zaius thank you very much!
Great video! would love to see some more care videos, especially cowboy boots. Im sure ive been doing it all wrong lol
Thanks. From Malaysia
Stunning!
SCD Observer thank you very much!
Hi Trenton. Thank you as always. I have a question. You sprayed at the end of boot care. My question is "Do we need to remove the spray material by some sort of cleaner at the next time or just start over with brushing followed by cream?"
Saphir Médaille d'or isn't a "good" brand. It's just the best on the market 😁😁😁
Thanks for the fabulous content, you always publish excellent videos.
All my support from 🇫🇷
CaptainB_fr Merci beaucoup!
Very informative! My smooth skinned boots see a decent amount of abuse and get roughed up pretty good. Lots of scrapes and cuts. What do you guys normally use to smooth out the rough areas? Not looking for a miracle, just looking to clean things up.
Nice to see you, Trent! I have a pair of Thursday Presidents in that leather. I guess I’d better get busy! 😊 Fortunately, mine are in way better shape than those Captains, so it shouldn’t be bad. Have a great weekend.
Anthony Gardner Haha...thanks, Anthony! Yeah, we don’t see you as the type of gentleman to wear beat up shoes and not take care of them. 😉 Have a great weekend as well!
Trenton & Heath I try not to. 😊
Very detailed video. Thank you. I have a question. Isn’t there a possibility that the conditioner pulls out some color? I tried conditioning my new boots and the cloth I used was turning brown and black again and again like my boots were super dirty. I used grangers leather conditioner. I have to mention that my boots (Levi’s Emerson) are dark brown and have some sort of black burn decoration. After putting conditioner and wax the boots are worse than it was before. The color is lighter and much of the finish gone. Maybe I did put much products on it and made coats on the leather that make em look a bit ugly. Any ideas to clean all this stuff from the leather without damaging it so I can start again with the right products and the correct way?
