Is it possible to lower a Heel in a shoe? Platform Heel of between 3-4 inches, down to a 2 inch platform heel? Woman shoes
I like the leather laces
Not advised. The length of your heels are calculated almost exactly. Cutting more than 1/4” exponentially kicks the front of the shoe up making it unstable to wear.
wondering about adding metal heel plates to my boots to keep from wearing down the heel and rolling my ankles
I stopped watching Trenton and Heath when they shamed a customer for coming in with shoes with a hole in the sole. They really laid it on thick, basically saying they couldn't believe it and making the guy look like some kind of degenerate. I can't imagine how mortifying it must have been for the customer to watch that episode. He must have been so excited to see his shoes being repaired and instead he was thoroughly shamed.
If they can talk about customers like that with the camera on, Lord knows what they say when it's off. They are arrogant and snobbish and success has gone to their heads. I will never watch another episode of theirs again.
You guys are just showing off now. That was the best comeback since Lazarus. Thanks for posting.
😂😂😂
Too much and disrespectful...
I have to write that line into a screenplay someday that Lazarus line is hilarious
@@eduardomedina2776 Yay, someone's offended because of a fairytale joke. Do you still believe in Santa too? :)
@@skwisgaarskwigelf1365 brother, take it easy. It is not a fairy tale.
True story: I'm a Glazier by trade, in Florida and back in 1999, I was working on a high rise and we had stored the crates of glass and frames in the basement,. Well, it stormed one weekend and flooded the basement, so to get to our stuff, we had to wade into water. I had cheap wal mart boots and my feet got wet to the point of injury. Right after work, I went to a Red Wings store and the clerk took one look at me and had me sit down. He took my soaking wet, ruint boots and socks off my feet. He took a towel and dried them off, then sprinkled them with powder and put the best, thick socks I'd ever had on my feet. then he had me step into the machine that sourrounds your foot and measures them. He went to the back and came back with a pair of mocs, like those and put them on me. They were the most comfortable boots I'd ever worn. I told him, Listen, you ain't getting these boots back and I'm walking out in them." I walked out with those boots and have worn Red Wings ever since. Now, since then , I've worked all over the Country, From Florida to Atlanta and to New Orleans afetr Katrina and out to Las Vegas and up the Kansas City and no matter where I went, I could walk into any Red Wing store and they'd clean them, rub them down with conditioner and oil and even put new strings on , FOR FREE. Now, they'd resole them (I had to pay for that), but they do a great job and even gave me a pair of loaners until they got mine done. Red Wing is an investment, not just in money but they're like a family. I knew that no matter where I was, I could walk into a Red Wings store and be treated like family. I could relax and be taken care of, on the spot. A great company the makes great boots.
I believe that story. I was treated very kindly when I went into Redwing store a couple weeks ago for the very first time. I would like to see them continue being such a down to earth shoe company. A not cheap out like so many other shoe companies have.
Quality over quantity is always better.
I appreciate you sharing your experience. It may sound strange, but I could literally picture the inside of Redwing Store (brown, red colors with a leathery smell) as I was reading your story.
👍
Same story here with mine: great customer service, amazing boots. I've had em for... God, 6 years now? I've hiked, hunted, waded, climbed and gone to a nice dinner all in one pair of boots.
I'm a cheap ass when it comes to basically everything. Except my boots. If they ever fail, I won't even hesitate to drop the cash on em again.
@@troubleinbound which Redwings do you have?
@@lukuscarter3563 the 875s. 6 inch moc toes. I got vibram soles installed 4 years ago and I've never gone back to the default ones.
I was hoping for this experience. Unfortunately when I went to get sized they didn't treat me kindly(Atlanta).... maybe cause they only carried work boots and not the style I was looking for.
Bought wolverine 1000miles instead and now been wearing them daily for 6 years! They are about the same condition as these mocktoes. Resoled twice..
But I long for the day I can get some RedWing iron rangers.
I watch Trenton & Heath videos. I used to be productive. I did things on weekends. I even had a social life. Now I watch Trenton & Heath videos. I can no longer help myself. I watch Trenton & Heath videos. Maybe I'll go to rehab.
Ha ha. That sounds like a country song. Hopefully they'll allow our videos into rehab.

ME!!!
Why don't you watch some Trenton and heath videos?
Hi. My name is Dave and I’m a shoe restoration - aholic...
I'm a plumber in south Florida and over the last decade or so the quality of products has declined tremendously. I find fixing and restoration of all things extremely interesting and entertaining. Thanks for the content fellas.
Thank you very much for watching!
I quit buying Red Wing Boots because they fall apart ridiculously fast now-a-days.
@@rexmonarch2the Iron rangers?
I agree, Brother. Anything 20 years or older is higher quality.
@@conandebreste5729 my Iron Rangers are 5 years old and I wear them every day. They're still going strong. I want a pair of moc toes though.
You guys have no idea what kind of anti-stress your videos are. I am prescribing them to everyone! 😀
Thank you so much. Glad you enjoy them!
Amen! I laughed out loud in the coffee shop I frequent because that's exactly what these videos are for me. My wife will actually watch them with me sometimes and doesn't even know way. Lol!
That is no joke
Very relaxing for me too!
My grandfather was a Cobler and saddle maker I followed him around most of my life even as an adult. Your craftsmanship is second to none accept my grandfather of course. Sadly he is no longer with us. Watching you work brings back wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing your craft with the world he would more than approve of your work.
I'm not a shoe enthusiast, but watching this channel is so satisfying... I appreciate skill and workmanship, and people who go the extra mile, like Trenton and Heath. Keep up the good work!
Incredible to watch craftsman like you guys in this day and age of “throw away” lifestyles
Thank you!
At this time there is one down vote, probably from Redwing Shoes since they lost a replacement sale. 😉
Red wing don't even do these repairs iirc
@@shurdi3 he means a new pair of boots
@@shurdi3 they will resole and do other basic work. But they would have turned this boot away due to the excessive welt and insole damage. That is something they rarely spend the time on replacing.
Redwing no longer sells the model I wear so having resouled would be a big plus for me.
@@scruffy6151 you know what style / stock # you have?
My daddy passed away in 96 and he wore boots like this he worked in a metal grating factory and these were sold out of a boot truck that came out every 6 months and would provide the workers new boots thanks guys for sharing this and making me smile and think about my daddy.
Man,I’ll never complain about how much it costs to have boots repaired! That’s a lot of work these guys put into fixing these Red Wings! When I worked for American Airlines I had a pair of Redwings just like these except they used a black sole material. It was really comfortable but the concrete on the ramp was like a wood rasp and the soles lasted maybe 6 months at the most. This was in the late 80’s,early 90’s. I wish I hadn’t thrown them away now. I would have had these guys repair them.
You guys care for the community. Honorable. And your name is integrity. Ty.
Who gave that 1 Dislike? Somebody jealous they couldn't have done a better job? Amazing work guys!. :)
Thank you!
I have a theory that there are dislike bots.
Franny Fisher me too! I've always thought that
The guy who kept stitching over previous stitching without removing them.
25 dislikes, are you kidding me??!! Who dislikes this level of craftsmanship?
Oatmeal!
Well done.
I loved that part. Made me laugh
I seen that too. And I was wondering if that was a CZcams error 😅.
There is something wonderfully therapeutic about watching a person repair with their hands and tools. Restoring something back to as new as possible.
Years ago, I worked in the shoe dept at my local Kmart. We had a policy (a _stupid_ policy) that we would give a refund for any shoes that were returned, no matter what. The boots in this video were NOTHING compared to some of the junk that were returned to our store...for which we had to reimburse, of course (if we could find the shoes/boots in our catalogs that is). I'll never forget how angry that policy made me, cos I had to handle those nasty things! Thank you for your common sense approach to show repair, very nice job!
You guys did an awesome job on my father's western boots that I sent you! He loves them!
Awesome! So kind of you to let us know.
Wow, you have something they have touched!
@@xxx-il9dv I kno right there amazing😅

Haha...thank you sir! We really appreciate you watching from over in the UK. 👍
Another fan from Liverpool here.
Found this 2 year old video and had to watch after the Westco boots resole. Its ones like this that inspired me to go ahead and give my almost 20 year old Redwing 606 boots a complete makeover. I had some cracking due to a lapse in conditioning and some color fade as well as rub marks on the toes. They got new soles and insects about 5 years ago so they're worth it. All in all they came out great by following your step by step recommendations. It also helped that the boots were burgundy as the color blend came out great. Thanks again for your videos gents
My 10877 Red Wings are the best boots I’ve ever purchased, period dot. The attention to quality is simply superb. It’s a great feeling knowing I own a pair of boots that will last longer than I will. 👍🏻
Love seeing how a pair of boots can be brought back to life. Another break-in period for them, but only the foot bed this time. C'mon boot owners... CONDITION your leather !!!!! For work boots and other hard working stuff, Bick 4 is your FRIEND !!
Can you guys show a lining repair? Maybe just a heel lining? I just noticed that one of my pairs of shoes have worn through there.
@@jnimitzch4738 Thanks! I found this: czcams.com/video/7f0VkmdAKMQ/video.html I wish he'd gone into a little more detail, but I think I get the idea.
Fantastic to see you bring these boots back from the dead 👌
Very interesting to watch.
The boots are back in service and in a landfill.
A win - win!
There’s something very oddly satisfying and relaxing about watching you guys work! I can’t explain it!
Got my email last week you all got my Moc Toe Redwings in. I have the steel toe version have not seen how you all do the steel toe stuff.
Wondering if it makes them harder to Resole? Anyways love watching them come back to life can't wait to see the magic u work on mine.
No two boots are a like. You guys keep bringing them. We will keep watching.
You guys knocked it out of the ballpark, again.😊
That oatmeal being put on is the best thing ever
Spectacular refurbishment job guys! I know that I've said this before, but I think that you have these videos down to a fine art at this point: there's a great balance between the commentary and the actual demonstration of the various steps, and the meticulousness of Heath's work is incredible! ... Your videos are a little highlight of the weekend, thanks T & H!
Thank you so much, Kevin! We’re glad you’re enjoying them.
Another wonderful video from two southern gentlemen who are also top tier craftsmen. Obviously the gentleman who sent in the boots really loved his boots enough to have them resoled multiple times or like many of us did the cost/benifit math and decided repair was a better option than replace. He just happened to hit the jackpot with this one. Nothing but respect for what you do and share with your devoted following.
Thank you so much! We really appreciate that.
This was pretty nostalgic. I remember as a kid, and I’m only 30, in Mexico before all the American big stores came in a huge portion of people got their shoes from cobblers or got them fixed by cobblers. Now everyone just runs to Costco, Walmart and for the rich , LV, Gucci etc for new shoes. Filling out dumps with TONS of reusable shoes.
Fantastic job guys (as always). As for me, I love seeing the work, regardless of whether or not it is the same brand of boots!! And yes we enjoy the amazing work done of the uppers and then the complete reconstruction of these!
Thank you sir! We appreciate it. Glad you’re enjoying them.
It's amazing watching a completely botched pair of boots come back to life!
This is very interesting content.
Thank you very much!
They came out a lot better than I expected!!
Always a pleasure to watch artisans practice their craft.
These boots were loved... Tough loved. Now they have been given Tender loved and cared.
they were someones every day boots. they got the same treatment the person did probably. worked half to death, given just a few hours of rest and worked half to death again
It was a nice restoration👍
Love from India❤️
Peace✌️
Thank you!
Wow, if I hadn’t watched this, I wouldn’t have believed it! Fun to watch. 🇨🇦
Super amazing, great job we count with you guys.
I am really appreciating more shots of the boots while you talk. Good job
Thank you!
I think it’s just really cool to bring a pair of boots back like those and make them useful again.
I said it before you guys are artists! watch a ton of your videos almost makes me want to get into it. But at 65 and retired way to late for that so I live it vicariously through your videos.
The guy that killed those boots is LUCKY. Once I started paying my own bills and living on my own, I learned to take care of my stuff. I keep good heels and soles on my boots and they last forever.
i dont buy crazy nice boots either. my adtec loggers have more in the resole job than i paid for the whole boot brand new. they came with a good upper but a crappy mid and outsole. i have decked them out with a super thick midsole, stacked leather heel vibram lug outsole, leather welt and a through stitch on the whole sole stack. my favorite hiking boots of all time. i'm working on a pair of cheap steel toe cowboy boots from walmart and i plan on doing the same to them to use as work boots.
I live for these boot makeovers! 😍
Thank you so much for watching them!
It's so satisfying watching you apply the cork.
Now is it cheaper buying a new pair or cheaper to get them fixed up and redone . love the workmanship amazing truly.

I am so impressed by what you guys are doing and your business. I wish more young people across the country would consider getting into your profession.
Thank you! We plan on doing a video or two soon discussing this topic.
People, even if you work in your Red Wings just condition them every once in a while.
No one cares and that’s why manufacturers continue to offer less and less quality in this throw away society and they know it!
@@fordloyalist2791 I condition my boots and shoes regularly. Most people don't though.
That was my takeaway from this.
You need to re-lace at least one of them to be the same. Over on one and under on the other (13:31)
We laughed about this. We both laced a boot. 😂
@@TrentonHeath You guys set us OCD types back a few steps there. LOL

Watching you guys spread the hot cork is so satisfying. I'm always a little bit disappointed when a video of yours doesn't feature that. I still enjoy them, I just enjoy the ones with the hot cork action a bit more.
That was nice of y’all going above and beyond
This is super impressive and all but at what point is enough enough and you just buy a new pair?
I'd say when the upper is no longer fixable or a welt to be stitched on, but I'm just guessing. The only thing I know about cobbling is from watching Trenton & Heath 🤣
Unfortunately, I don’t think most people know anything about boots and shoes. Many of the folks that watch our channel do, but most out there don’t. Many think they can send in any pair of boots for a simple resole, not realizing that the shape of the boots can play a big part. These were obviously shot. Ordinarily, we would have recommended he throw them away; however, in this case, we did most of this for y’all’s entertainment. He also has a pair he can wear again...for the price of a simple resole. 😉
N.E.V.E.R. E.N.O.U.G.H.!😅
Especially when the price of a simple resole is almost the price of a new pair these days
Personally, if it can be resoled, it should be resoled. Reducing waste is important. Plus, a lot of resoles and restorations are a way of not only keeping the shoe alive, but a lot of the memories attached to those shoes. Many people cherish the items that get them through the tough times. Some people will pay anything to keep those item intact.
Sweet Jesus! I guess you’d be the guys Hermes would call to fix his flying shoes.
Never thought of us doing Greek Mythology shoes! 😉
Great work done.Unfortunately our country does not have skilled boot makers like you"ll.Well done!.

And still have a boot that is broken in and very comfortable. But i also do take very good care of my boots lol. After all i wear them 12 hours a day lol
@@Necker12 Not when the repair would exceed the cost of the boot itself. Especially in the condition it was with the uppers being cracked - prob best to get a new boot. The owner abused the uppers so can't have too much "sentimental" value if the uppers are that way.
