Surprisingly, I don't have alot of experience. My bachelor's degree is in kinesiology. But I found an article about the finances of baseball and something just resonated. Since then it's been just researching on my own and building my resume. My only business class was a fitness Management course where I had to establish a gym. My rxperi3nce has been difficult, but it helps that I enjoy learning something new, which makes all of this work perfectly.

As much as Arsenal is a club for the fans, it is also a business, and people need to realize this. Fans go through the emotions but have no idea about the finance of a club and the freedoms/restrictions this may have.

As much as fans in football are usually assholes, there is this fact a club won't survive without its fans. So it is not just a typical business.

If sarcasm: It is rather a weird notion that a statement as the above could be made, and the question asked in sarcasm, incinuating that I must have knowledge of the workings of said club...or else I am not authorised to speak (weird logic). In the end, I don't know. For my statement was not saying I know, it was simply attacking an attitude many fans of many beloved clubs have wordwide. They are so clouded by emotions, they forget about logic.
2. If not sarcasm: I am not an accountant or financial advisor. My finance experience does not include running a football club, it stops at running a automobile shop. 😂.
In either case, I don't know 🤣, I am learning like most people.
But I have also learnt that despite me not being a financial buff, fans can be more educated on how to conduct themselves and draw more educated conclusions by identification of what they don't know.

Think it should be stressed that Kroenke didn't invest until he owned 100% of Arsenal in 2018. He saw no benefit from investing when Usmanov still owned like 40% of the club. As soon as he brought the club under his banner, he restructured the stadium debt and started steadily investing both financially and in terms of personnel.

Insightfull stuff! I’ve been an Arsenal fan since 2011 and I’m very impressed with their recent performance under Mikel Arteta.It’s fascinating to learn about how the club is run as it gives us some perspective. But it is something that many fans overlook. Arsenal’s business strategy makes sense to me as it translated on their tranfers policy. Under Mikel Arteta, they focus on developing young players with potential rather than spending big on established stars. They don’t have the financial power of some of the other big clubs, but that doesn’t mean they can’t compete at the highest level. They just need to be smart and patient, like in moneyball. And I think this strategy is paying off in the last few years.
Let's just hope the other big boys don't use their money to take them away when they fully mature.
@APE Graham It is inevitable unless we consistently challenge for the title. And I wouldn't be surprised if Arteta prioritized signing quality players who can make an immediate impact rather than project players who need time to develop since we're past the rebuild phase.

I think Josh Kroenke deserves some shout here. He is the one who took a deeper interest and was ready to engage with fans. Invest more and join Arteta and bring more accountability. I still hate Stan but I'll accept Josh.

One good season for Arsenal and one bad season for Chelsea does not mean a shift. Arsenal finished above Chelsea in 15/16 as well. Since then Chelsea have won The Premier League, The FA Cup, The Europa League, The Champions League, The Club World Cup to name a few. While Arsenal have won two FA Cups and have "really" pushed City for the title.
Woaahh, your forgetting Arsenal also made it to a European cup final during that time!

Arsenal is a joke. Our worst season in over 30 years and yours since 2003 we still end up 0 trophies. The only difference is that you get to play UCL which you last played 7 years ago.
During those 7 years, Chelsea have won PL, FA, Europa League (on your heads), UCL, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club WC and multiple finals. Meanwhile you have won 2 FAs and a bunch of community shields. If Chelsea was formed in 2016, We would have nearly completed than you buffoons
We are not the same. Chelsea is the only club to have a 100% win record in Europa League. We have played the competition twice and won it twice. Definition of too good to be in that competition. Meanwhile you clowns have been in and out of Europa and still failed to win one. Next season's UCL qualification is just a ticket to Europa League by December.

You miss a big aspect of Kronke's reluctance to spend money before 2019. He didn't own Arsenal out right. The money spent has been since they have had full control.
I've no idea how share holding works but at one point Moshiri and Usmanov, currently at Everton, where shareholders. Kind of glad they didn't spend money if those two had any say in how it was spent.

Yep this is exactly correct. The Kroenke's goal was to have 100% ownership, meaning they would have to buy the shares off of Usmanov and Moshiri. Investing in the club prior to owning 100% would mean increasing the overall value of the club, and therefore increasing the overall value in everyone's shares. If you plan on buying out other partial owners, its not in your interest at all to increase the value of those shares.
Now that they own the whole club, it's in their interest to have the club be as successful, and therefore valuable, as possible.

I’d be interested in a video comparing mascots and how much value they add to a team (I mean fan morale, attracting kids and their parents, and how much merchandise they sell). This would probably take a lot of time to research though as I am envisioning this including different professional sports’ most iconic mascots. As I write this, I’m wondering if mascots are more of a North American thing that is less important in European, South American, etc. football.

Great video, however a key element you've missed out is that the Kroenkes did not have full control of Arsenal football club until 2018, and they have invested heavily since then.
Of course the investment is driven by financial incentives, but you can't hold the lack of investment between 2008-2018 solely on the Kroenkes. Why would they invest 100s of millions in a club that they don't have full control over?

I think it should have been mentioned that Kroenke bought the club and then let the club pay that purchase with the club's own profits. Football lives from emotion and someone who just sees the business side of things might make more money, but misses the entire point of bringing together millions of people and working towards a common goal.
Obviously the way many EPL clubs are led is ridiculous, blood money owners who circumvent financial fairplay and so on, but at least show some passion as an owner of one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Also, the title is quite misleading as it just looks at the financial side of things but in reality the real reason why Arsenal has reclaimed London is because they gave their young coach Arteta time and trusted him to lead them to good things. Kroenke had very little to do with it except for letting them spend some money.
