Welcome back to Casually Competitive MTG! We are a group of friends who enjoy playing fast paced semi competitive EDH games. In today’s game we have a matchup between Chulane, Teller of Tales; Kykar, Wind’s Fury; Yuriko, the Tiger’s Shadow; and Scion of the Ur-Dragon. Quick clarification for the DT cast later in the game:
This Kykar deck is new to the table and when Bill cast DT no one double-checked the ruling on it requiring two creature targets. There were many other valid creature targets at the time on boards of Bill’s opponents. If Bill had targeted one of those creatures it wouldn’t have made a huge difference in the game. If he hit one of Adam’s creatures, Adam would have still very likely been able to get a single Ninja through for the Yuriko trigger, and if he had targeted either one of Jordan’s or Joseph’s creatures it would have died due to Jordan losing the game or the Damnation cast. We will do our best to be more attentive to these issues and do what we can to catch them in the future.

@@isaiahharris1637 Yes! Chulane is an anglicized version of the Irish "Chulainn". The "ch" sound loses a real voice when said. So, "Chulane" is meant to be pronounced "HULL-en". Much like the word "sullen".
I'd say that the Mental Misstep that countered Deafening Silence was a huge play for the match
8:55 Joseph could've actually paid for the study (or left his land untapped) because Priest of Titania taps for 3 in this scenario. The Changeling Outcast is an elf and Priest of Titania cares about all elves on the battlefield

cEDH games are so fun to watch when all the cards are shown in the middle and things are explained, congratz and i hope for many more episodes. As for commander i would like to see, i believe Marath can be build both competitively and fun!

Bill needed to target two creatures with Divergent Transformations. It doesn't say "up to".
Yeah probably an easy fix but you never know what your opponents will get
i think it only searches for the amount of creatures you exile. only kykar was exiled
@@mmissing3 But it has to target two creatures, or it can't be cast. It can target an opponent's creature though.
Am i missing something? He did target two creatures. The spirit token, and Kykar. And as a response to his own cast, he sacrifices the token for a red mana.

Love the video! Love the pace of all your games. Love the reading of the interactions and responses players may have.
Even after watching all the games, I don't remember any of the players names. Sometimes it's hard to keep track of who a person is swinging at.
If your buddies are down, you should post a picture of each of their faces. Would be nice to have a face to the name.
On each turn, maybe highlight their board?

Holy crap, I watched you first video yesterday and went to your channel to see if you had any Yuriko gameplays (I am a yuriko player) and looked on my main page today and look what’s being played. Love the content. Great work, especially for being a newer channel. I would love to see more Chulane gameplay or even Korvold. One potential criticism of this match, I believe that due to the steps of combat you can cast winds of rebuke in response to moving to the damage step after blockers have been declared which would have been a way to bounce oni or yuriko after it had been ninjutsued which if I am not mistaken probably would have changed the final pace of the game. May not have mattered but may be something to keep in mind.

I based my pronunciation based on how the competitive primer for him broke down his name. I'll paste it here:
"Chulane is an Anglicisation of Chulainn, from the Ulster cycle of Irish myths of Cu Chulainn (Chulainn’s Hound). While the “ch” at the beginning should actually be the voiceless velar fricative (like a rolled “h”, or an “h” crossed with an “x”), that’s not a common place sound in English, so use a standard “h” sound. The rest of the word is pronounced “HULL-en” (rhymes with “sullen”). Not CHOO-lane. Please."

Great gameplay I have a chulane deck and after seeing sage owl I may put that bird into my deck. I can imagine bouncing it just for the value.
Higure can't make the bird unlockable.

Don't forget that in Eternal formats such as Commander, the order of cards in graveyards is important. For example, Gamble should be on top of the discarded card and Damnation should be on top of the destroyed creatures. Of course, this had no effect on this game but it's something to think about. :)

I’ve subbed, been looking for a new channel for EDH gameplay and Commanders Quarters is taking too long.
As a Yuriko main, this is how she must be played. Compared to the other channels that showcase Yuriko, this has the best gameplay I’ve seen. Mine’s lower to the ground in cmc, but the gameplay feels right with this one 👍
It was more of a rushed rebuild. I definitely want to switch a couple cards around, but it worked pretty good this time around.

When Joseph is tapping the Priest of Titania during his Echo of Eons turn, it should be tapping for 3 mana, Priest of Titania counts all elves on the battlefield and Morophon counts as an elf.

Why Adam targets the 2/2 Blue Creature if Higure is able to turn the unblockable skill to Ninja Creature?
I might be wrong, but when casting a creature while controlling Chulane, you have to put a land into play before you draw a card.
Only constructive criticism I can offer so far is that i would like to see the cards be larger before they shrink down to their normal size.
Overall though, awesome gameplay, fantastic quality and just all around fun

Usually the 4 biggest CMC spells you got left in your library then usually a spell to get rid of blockers or make your creatures unblockable for a huge attack
I'm so happy you're pronouncing Chulane like that! He's based off of the Irish Hero Cuchulain, pronounced "Coo-hul-en," but everyone just says "Chu-Lane." Irish is weird!

You are not wrong. Magic cards are written for the primary language of their players: English. Read the names in basic English phonetics and you will never be far from the exact pronunciation.

Very true! Fortunately Adam had another Ninja and I couldn't have blocked enough damage anyway

In the video, he actually turns his Higure sideways along with Yuriko. The bird doesn’t swing.

He doesnt need to put Yuriko into the Command Zone if bounced to hand. He can still Ninjutsu in Yuriko from his hand.
True, that's my favorite thing about yuriko. Super hard to deal with unless you get rid of all the other creatures first
