It's funny, a friend and I as a meme took 2 valkyries in a kasrkin scion heavy 2000 point list against a necron army, we thought we were not going to win, but we were going to look cool while doing it, however the valkyries acted as tar pits while the infantry moved around to take objectives, we won the match much to our suprise

  • @agentcoriolis9208

I’m still struggling to understand why it went up in cost, despite it being an inefficient option at the height of our brief power boost in 9th. But I believe 40k has never been particularly kind to flyers

  • @Mythralblade04

Of note for the grav-chute insertion; you can rapid ingress onto scrambler fields in your opponent's turn (because the valkyrie isn't deep striking ONTO the objective, just NEXT to it, and the scions are disembarking, not deep striking), and you can decide whether to put scions out onto an objective after seeing whether the enemy will get a bead on them. You can also ripcord your unit if you see that the valkyrie is going to get blown up that turn.

  • @jonsmith2240

I run two with my scions. They stick around far longer than they should, give a distraction carnifex, provide a turn one pressure, I find them very useful on the tabletop - more so than the profile appears

  • @QuirkyQ32

if grav chute insertion worked for all units i think it would work a lot better and cooler i wish i could use it for kasrkin

  • @richardbaker4088

A scion command unit can give its orders, embark into the valkyrie, then use the grav-chute to order on your opponent's turn, and repeat. Strangely, they can use this to hold an objective but also not.

  • @IlanMuskat

Really thinking about using it to get Straken and some punchy-punchy Catachans into back lines.

Loadout-wise, I suppose it simply comes down to specialization. The generalist road is probably the suggested one, lascannon and rocket pods. But an anti-armor one would equip both the lascannon and the Hellstrike missiles, while an anti-infantry (or anti-horde) variant would go with the multi-laser and the pods.

  • @LoneEagle2061

The grav chute insertion rule is legacy from inception isn’t it? When the Valkyrie was a resin model, a Forgeworld exclusive - it was designed for the Elysian Drop Troops and a lot of that force had some way of getting deep strike. If an option for your Infantry Squad was grav chutes, I’m pretty sure you’d find ways of dropping them on objectives :-)

I love my Valkyries. I have two of them. Joker is all black with a Joker face on one side and a bunch of HAHAHAHAHA! on the other side. He usually carries Kasrkin. Clarice is pink, beautiful, and usually carries my Ogryn squad, Lindsey’s Lovelies. Death from above! 🖤💖💀

  • @Darkwullfster

The Valkyrie Vandetta was always a favorite of mine in previous editions, so much lascannon. Even now though, the Valk is basically a flying light tank that enemies will focus fire on instead of at your leman russ' or hot-shot flashlight boys, worth taking one or two. Anecdotally, they really seem to outperform against orks if you know you'll be fighting them.

  • @greynite1

Love Love love this Unit Im a huge fan but feel so bad about the Point cost. I would Use the hell out of it if it were more cost effective. Right now it really feels like a Borderline fluffy unit.

  • @Anaught-tbrk08

Imo it seems like it's best use might be an overpriced distraction carnifex for fluff armies (as opposed to competitive ones).

  • @TheTobaccoman

Love them so much I have many back when they could squadron. Dont regret it as they are one of the nicest looking aircraft in the game.

  • @horseface31

I miss being able to use my screaming Aquila list.

  • @anyth1ng258

pls do one video about the marauder destroyer/bomber there are no videos on this planet about them ....

  • @zoso279

I've never touched Imperial Guard before but when I watched Mordian's Ogryn and Inquisitor video it made me think of you could have them ride in the Valkyrie to quickly drop them off in a spot to lay into a juicy target.

  • @davidthomas2870

I don't think it's particularly useful but the Valkyrie ability is one of the only ways to get orders activating in the enemy turn!

  • @hexzinggaming5040

I’m not sure this works but it might. So if I’m right the rules say measure from aircraft’s hull so with grav chute insertion you could measure from the hull and insert troops high up on top of buildings/terrain to get the extra AP on weapons right from being 9 inch higher than target? It would also give them cover. Is there something I’m missing in the rules or an faq or does this work?
