    The sentinel is such a workhorse model right now, every guard player should get 3 imo.
    A squadron of 3 scout cans in a combined arms list puts the opponent into a hard to calculate decision bind. If they ignore the cans till lategame you get a solid force multiplier all game. If they put firepower into them you can get great value out of your 2cp. (I use the conversion rate of 6 mortals per cp, so 21 wounds of high T high Sv is solid) A smart opponent will turn the problem back on you by dropping the cans to 1 model t1. T2+ start shooting infantry off the board before resolving anti tank shooting, and if you dont cp reinforce the infantry, put their anti tank into your main armour.
    A single scout can in reserve is a nuisance threat that punishes lists that run light on chaff.
    All sentinels have great keywords which makes them a handy order dump if the primary order target got deleted early.
    Tanky Cans give your infantry and scions lists a sticky anti tank unit.
    Tanky Cans give your tank company some OC ferrets without sacrificing your armour skew.
    I think the time of the 10th ed can can can list is over already. However, if "3d printer go brrr" then the financial cost of enjoying the meme is probably justifiable.
    TLDR: Balanced unit. Strong, but has counter play. Take? Yes. Spam? No, but funny.

  • @TheSheriff-69
    @TheSheriff-69 Před 6 měsíci +1

    Underrated IMO. Can punch above their price and take down much larger monsters/vehicles when complimented with the right units. An example would be using Creed/Master Vox, a unit of Bombast Field Guns and a full squadron of Scout Sentinels with Lascanons. Creed can issue 'Take Aim' Orders as both have the 'Regiment' Keyword. Scout Sentinels, use their 'Daring Recon' ability, "painting" the target unit. Both the Bombast Field Guns and Scout Sentinels are now hitting on 3s and re-rolling 1s. The Bombast Fields Guns have 'Sustained Hits' and 'Lethal Hits' because of the army rule and unit ability. Combining these abilities creates a work around for these units' weaknesses against higher priced/high toughness units. All this takes is the target unit being visible and within 18" of the Scout Sentinels and the Scout Sentinels and Bombast Fields Guns being within 24" of Creed.

      Slightly less battleline since sents are nice and expendable, and slighly fewer tanks since sents can punch other vehicles like tanks can with lascannons and HK missiles. You still need a few men to bubblewrap some leaders like solar, creed, and straken. You can lean further into the medium armor spam with chimeras. Lascannon loadout is bad at clearing chaff, so chimeras and scions/kasrkin might help with that. I also think rough-riders are sleepers in general.

    I was just thinking about this actually. So neat to hear this take.
    If I did my math right, 9 scout and 9 Armored comes out to 1170, which still leaves a decent amount of points.
    So 180 for a 20 man infantry with a command squad. Take 3 of those, for 540. Add Ursula for 2 more orders.
    If you take the Vox and only the flag or medic, you could stuff 3 mortars in each of those blobs.
    180 for 3 mortar teams and you’re left with 55 to play with if you took creed, 110 if you didn’t. And you get a potential of 18 mortars as well.
    Play around with it a bit to take more bodies or a basilisk or two, maybe more orders, and you’d have decent amount of indirect fire and bodies to compliment the sentinels.
    Not entirely sure how to make it work, but 830 points seems like enough to make up for some of the army’s weaknesses. I’d like to see this in action.

    Scout Sentinels are pretty great, but I've gone off spamming big units of them. They're fast and durable, the spotter ability is essential, and being able to use Reinforcements on them is great. But they're not going to be dealing a lot of damage, so that's potentially a good few points that won't contribute to removing enemy units. Armoured Sentinels have the same problem, they're just a bit more durable while also being slower.
    So for me, I have my 2 or 3 individual scout sentinels in any list and that's it.

      @giantninja9173 Před 6 měsíci +2

      Modifying stratagem costs was FAQ’d to only be battle tactics in the core rules. Sadly reinforcements is not a battle tactic. Also regular Vox-casters are almost useless if Leontus is in the list because you can only gain 1 extra CP per round. However, fields of fire is an excellent freebie for Creed to spam especially with a leman Russ exterminator in combination and the extra CP from Leontus/vox-casters leaves enough extra to do things outside of reinforcements. (Expert bombardiers is not the worst use of a CP in an artillery heavy list as it lets the ALL of the indirect fire move and still have +1 to hit. And since it targets the vox-caster unit to activate they get to roll for the bonus CP when they use it.)
