    i did a stage 1 with all screaming eagle parts (high flow air cleaner, exhaust and tuner). i can assure you that there is a huge difference between stock.
    the bike really does "wake up" with an attitude. lol. great products! (and actually less expensive than other aftermarket products)

    Thank You Doc Harley for all of your fantastic videos. I truly enjoy watching and learning. I live 2 hours north of Charleston so I hope one day I can ride down.
    I have a brand new 2023 107 Street Glide ( less than 500 miles ). Day one I had the Stage 2 installed consisting of the new SE Pro Street Tuner, SE-447 Torque cam, SE oval ventilator ( K&N ). a Bassani catless head pipe ( the stock crossover was used the dealer told me ) and I have the great sounding large 4.5" Rinehart DBX 45's.
    I'm coming from a carb EVO so I'm learning how to use my Pro street tuner as I was getting popping early on and wonder if it was running hot? The SE tuner said 290F last month and I added the Harley oil cooler fan day one too....but things are improving the more I have the tuner learn but I'm not sure about having to use a cell phone to get my bike right. The idea of buying and using this smart tuner that will make adjustments auto be a hot/ cold day at the beach or Mt Mitchell NC is appealing to me if it will work on my bike.
    Doc, You mention something about the smart tuner working best when Harley parts or close to Harley parts are used, I think that was the general idea.
    Do you think I will be okay purchasing and using this product with my non-Harley exhaust setup? I have asked multiple shops about this product to try and get some thoughts and input but its as if folks are not knowledgeable about this product and or suggest I don't need it but do not explain why I don't need it.
    I have lots to learn about my SE pro Street tuner but I question how do I prepare as example for my vacation when I leave the Carolina Coast and head up to the Carolina high Country. Will I need to try and re-tune when I get up high or do I need this smart tuner if I find myself going from sea level to the Blue Ridge Parkway in a day? Will this Screamin' Eagle Smart Tune Pro play nice with my setup?

    Bought a 18 Tri Glide last year. Stage 1 done. Very interested in the Pro Street tuner, but possibly for different reasons than most: I believe I can probably run higher Ethanol blends anywhere terrain wise. Thats if my understanding of the function of the tuner is understood correctly. Trouble is, I have an extended warranty and want to keep it, HD hasn't approved the Pro Street Tuner for my trike. Told they weren't sure if the drive line would stand it, but I'm thinking that the extra cubes on the 19's negates that discussion. I also understand the fuel requirements to maintain the warranty, I think I'm good there. So, I'm wondering if anyone has noticed anything if they've upped the ethanol blends in conjunction with the Pro Street Tuner? Oh- and BTW- for the ethanol haters, I've heard it all, I have quite a lot of experience with ethanol in other high performance motors. Just nothing new with warranty on the line. Probably not going to change my mind on e-fuels. Really like to find out what HD does to make E 27 work in Brazil on their bikes.........

    I own a 2019 Sport Glide. I am very pleased with the performance of the bike and do not plan performance upgrades. I wouldn't mind a deeper sounding exhaust and have looked at the SE Street Canons. I have a few questions.
    1) If I put on the slip-ons without remapping the ECM will I loose bottom end torque ?
    2) Do I need a new map with slip-ons?
    2) I do not wish to buy a tuner because I plan no further modifications. Can the tech download a new map?
    Thanks for your videos. I find them extremely informative.

      I have run many different styles of slip on‘s and didn’t have Harley flash the ecm. I never had any problems. I believe they do not do the stage 1 ecm flash anymore even if they did I would not recommend it. For another $100 bucks or so you can get a piggy back unit and get more bang for your buck. I would recommend something other than Screamin Eagle mufflers. I have a set of older SE slash downs on my ultra a I’m about to gut em. Samson makes a great product, great to deal with and you can buy direct from them. The only tuner I would buy from Harley would be the SERT but it has been banned. Also I would have my dyno tune done by a independent shop. Unless you get lucky and it’s slow season it will get the good enough tune. I got a awesome tune and it was half price service in November this was several years ago back when it was dale’s hd in mt. Vernon Illinois. Now Black Diamond owns that dealership so you can forget about any deals there back to your question you will be fine with SE slip on’s and the stock ecm tune it must be nice to be satisfied with the performance of a factory bike. Every one I have had I bring it home and start with the performance upgrades! Keep the shiny side up Brother!

      Unfortunately, Harley-Davidson is ruled by the EPA. You’ve certainly heard the saying, “I’m from the Government and I’m here to help”. That’s a lie!
      The EPA HATES MOTOR VEHICLES IN GENERAL, BUT THEY REALLY, REALLY HATE MOTORCYCLES, especially the ones from The Motor Company. Go with a TTS Mastertune II or a Dynojet Power Vision and you’ll never have to worry about wimpy tunes. **Anything that warns you that it’s NOT for Street use is a good thing.

    A little confusion. Can you just purchase the smart tune pro, or must you purchase the pro street tuner first? If the bike was previously “dyno” tuned, can the ATM along with the wide band sensors function in conjunction with the dyno tune? Or will the smart tune pro over ride the dyno tuning?

    • @LowCountryHarleyDavidson
      @LowCountryHarleyDavidson  Před 4 lety +1

      If your bike runs well with the Dyno tune the ride and enjoy. To answer your questions, yes you must have the Harley-Davidson Pro Street Tuner first to add the Harley-Davidson Wide Band option. And you would be starting from scratch before the Dyno tune unless you Dyno tuned with the Harley-Davidson Tuner. The addition of the Wide Band Tuner would change any previous settings to fit what Harley set in their mapping. Thanks ~ Doc

      I struggle with that question. It is my belief that no 2 Harley-Davidson motorcycles are the same. So even box stock an individual owner/motorcycle could be tuned better. BUT H-D does not offer their stock maps. Only modified ie: stage 1-4. The same with other tuners. TTS is the only tuner that allows saving your stock map but not modifing it. ThunderMax replaces your stock ECM. With their program you would have a cooler running bike (but of course at a price of lower MPG ) For now, keep it stock for the warranty and enjoy. Thanks ~ Doc

    My dealer just told me they'd have to have a welder assist with resizing the hole on the headers for the wide-band O-2 sensors... That's odd considering this video says they could just drill the hole to make it bigger...

    • @alanwhiteside410
      @alanwhiteside410 Před 5 lety +2

      Matt Page
      They remove your header pipe and drill a certain size hole in each pipe about 6” from the heads so they can weld Bungs over the drilled holes, these Bungs have the threads in them to hold the bigger diameter O2 Sensors plus I believe they are put at a slight angle. Then they put plugs into the smaller factory Bungs which are located near the Catalytic Converters near the end of your header pipe.
      It’s best to just replace the header pipe with a header without them Catalytic Converters, most after market header pipes come with both size Bungs for the either size of O2 Sensors and just plug the ones you don’t use and most header pipes come with a set of Bungs Plugs.
      With an after market header pipe you lose weight by not having them Catalytic Converters (not per EPA though) plus your engine will run cooler which is a big plus and it might sound a bit different as in louder.
      Wide band O2 Sensors monitor a wider area of your fuel & air mixture.
      P.S. The Zippers ThunderMax ECM does all of this and more just replace your ECM under your seat no piggy back boxes to add to your system just swap out the ECM with the ThunderMax and it comes with the wide band O2 Sensors in the package a much cleaner and better system.

    I own the tuner and have several upgrades.. a few geeky questions
    After I’ve installed the auto tuner will the smart tune still work on the orange race tuner?
    As it adjusts the autotune are these saved in the module or does it recalculate fresh every time? Ie does it progressively get better with time or does it continually recalculate from your smart tune base?

    • @kriskleitsch9173
      @kriskleitsch9173 Před 4 lety

      The smart tune pro does not work with the orange (super) tuner. With the black street tuner and smart tune pro, adjustments are made through altering the AFV (adaptive fuel value). It’s basically a dial that turns the fuel delivery up or down, depending on conditions and riding style. To actually re-map the calibration, it needs to be done on a dyno or through many data collection efforts made by riding with the VCI connected, while in data record mode.

    • @pr5x
      @pr5x Před 4 lety +1

      Kris Kleitsch thanks for that.. so it’s a dynamic change 👍. FYI, The super tuner does work with the smart tune, they edited the software and you can now download specific maps for it..

    • @LowCountryHarleyDavidson
      @LowCountryHarleyDavidson  Před 4 lety +2

      Great questions. In talking with H-D Tech, the base map used in your tune is not changed. The Auto Tune always looks at the base tune then modified it according to the information recurved from all sensors including the wide band. This explains why it is so important to have the best Base mapping for your combination of performance parts. Your last question,”will it get progressively better?” No. will it keep a well tuned base map? Yes. Thanks ~ Doc

    • @kriskleitsch9173
      @kriskleitsch9173 Před 4 lety +2

      @@pr5x I stand corrected. In fact, they did add wideband maps to super tuner. They have also added 2017 and 2018 Milwaukee 8 maps. I tuned hundreds of bikes with super tuner but not M8 engines. That engine came out when they were going through the whole EPA shenanigans and Street Tuner was the only tuner that won't void your powertrain warranty. I don't use Smart Tune when tuning. I tune manually just like I did before H-D ever had closed loop EFI.
      There are also some people confused because the super tuner (and street tuner) have "smart tune" functions. They work with the factory narrow band sensors and can only read and adjust the AFR between approximately 14.1-15.1 AFR. The Smart Tune PRO simply adds wideband O2 sensors that can read and adjust the AFR under all desirable AFR's. For years, I've told people there is no such thing as an "auto-tuner". Companies like Techno Research and H-D are more accurately described as Tune Builder or Smart Tune. I've lost count of how many performance evaluations I've done on things like Thundermax and had to explain why the $1000 "autotuner" they just bought is a joke and their bike runs like explosive diarrhea.
      Like Doc just said, you do want a proper well-tuned map to start with so the bike can simply adjust for conditions because it won't re-map itself. And the learned Adaptive Fuel Value will still stay in the ECM memory, it only changes after the bike is operating.

      Our first thought would be your oil pump. Original 2017 oil pumps can wetsump which would drag the motor and cause pinging. Check that you have the most updated pump. Another possibility is there are 2 maps one for narrow band and one for wide band for your Stage 4 Upgrade. If the wrong map is installed pinging may occur. Another is checking to make sure the correct fuel pressure is present to supply enough fuel for a Stage 4 Upgrade. Hope one of these helps solve your pinging issue.
