  • Mini Metro Part 1 - the iconic minimalist train management strategy game finally makes an appearance on my channel, and that's because a SEQUEL is coming out this month! Mini Motorways is the name, and it looks like fun, but before all that, I need to brush up on my Mini Metro strategy.

      It's something along those lines, and passenger density reflects that. Circle stations will have a lot of Passengers coming out of them on weekday mornings, and lots of Passengers going to them weekday evenings. Meanwhile the special shapes see more traffic on the weekends.

    When you want to delete a line, rather than removing one station at a time, you can click the corresponding color on the bottom bar and click the X that appears on the top right of it to clear the entire thing at once. Also, there's a strategy that I've seen referred to as a "jump line" where you hold on to one line & train (and maybe a bridge or 2) and use that to get yourself out of a pinch when stations start getting crowded by connecting the overcrowded station directly to whichever station the majority of passengers want to go to

  • @newtonturner3339
    @newtonturner3339 Před 2 lety +20

    Wow, I used to play Mini Metro all the time. Just a little tip - connect almost all of your lines to squares. That way it won't get messy that quickly. I found out the best way to 'stay alive' is to have at least one circle, one square and one triangle on each of your lines. Or maybe that's just me. Also, you can delete your lines quicker by hitting on those little coloured buttons on the UI (bottom of the screen).

    • @VivonsPourJesus
      @VivonsPourJesus Před 2 měsíci

      You’re right about having one circle, one square, and one triangle on each line.

  • @thepavilion7625
    @thepavilion7625 Před 2 lety +106

    Interesting, I've always been solving this game by looking at it through drop-off locations, while Tyler seems to be solving it through pickup and train efficiency. (also, tracks that cross it terrible, like the Olympic rings 9:17 parallel is fine, but when they intersect like that, the trains slow down dramatically when they cross.)

    • @Septimus_ii
      @Septimus_ii Před 2 lety +7

      Yep, they can cross at stations but you don't want them to cross outside that

  • @Septimus_ii
    @Septimus_ii Před 2 lety +5

    Loops are great because it means that all stations are visited consistently and the train balances pickup and dropoff well. If you have a line you have a long time going out with mostly dropoff and a long time going back in with mostly pickup before the train makes it out to the other end. You also want to avoid sharp turns at stations, and that way the train will go straight through if it isn't planning to make a dropoff or pickup

    Just a few tips: it is better to have unique stations in as most lines as possible. Also, having a few of the same shape at the end of a line is to be avoided (the passengers will only get in the train while it is going directly in the direction of the station they want to go)

    The train doesn't pick up the angry passengers because they're waiting to go in the other direction. Look at their shapes. You don't have any stops of that shape in the direction the train is going.
    It's SUPER useful to build your lines to hit a variety of shapes and -when you have the odd shape here and there - make sure that either multiple lines intersect them or that you have an almost dedicated shuttle line because the passengers will collect and collect and your poor one-car train making a loop through 5 shapes won't have capacity to pick up all the leftover pluses from the three feeder lines

  • @jsbrads1

    I really like loops, when I get two trains on one loop I place the going in opposite directions, that is really helpful.
    I try to get every line to touch at least one triangle circle and square. I try not to hit too many circle (or triangles) in a row, tho sometimes you have to be pretty inventive with routing to avoid 3 circles in a row like his light blue region.
    I like to get one train line to connect all the train lines. So if I have 3 loops arranged like so: 000 in my city, I might strategically connect stations from each loop with one line, cutting thru the city, it might look like _|\_ to hit the rare stations, but it should decrease the number of trains needed to get from the start to the destination.

    In my time playing this I’ve come to realize that if you have a loop. You need a train going in each direction so the people don’t have to ride the whole line if they need to go one station back for like the special symbols. The light blue line at 16:44 is a good example. You can only get to the plus by riding the whole line.

    A good trick to deal with the angry stations is to have more than one train go to a lot more stations, specially the distant circles and unique shapes.
    Also, you can end your lines with triangles and squares so that empty trains will pick up everything they can from any angry station (also try to have them end at or close to where other lines meet it
