One of the big tricks in my experience is not being afraid to completely rebuild the infrastructure after a certain point. I'm pretty sure the insane top scores are the result of extreme micro managing. I've tried it myself a few times and it really improved my scores, but completely ruined the flow of the game, and made me feel that I was cheating.
    The idea is, that you always keep a spare locomotive in stock, run the game for 5 seconds, pause, place the spare loco so that it arrives at whatever station is the most crowded, wait for it to pick up pax and unload them, then remove the loco, pause, check the map and find the new top-crowded station, place loco there and repeat over and over. Of course, you also build lines the normal way, but the main key is that spare loco and constant pausing.
    After doing this for a few games, I decided that it completely removed the fun and created some personal high scores that I'd never be able to beat later, unless playing the same way, much like the unbeatable, still standing world records in athletics set in the 1980s and 1990s set with heavy use of doping, so I decided to stop playing that way.

    Never played this game but it would probably be smart to rethink the specialty districts.
    All of those unique districts put a strain on your system. Unidirectional lines mean that any passenger that enters after the district has to sit in the train for an entire round and having those districts only reachable through a single line puts strain on that line.
    Basically you'd either want to connect all the neighboring lines to those districts or create a shuttle line with the sole purpose of increasing connectivity between distant lines and those specialty districts.

    • @bishop8958
      @bishop8958 Před 2 lety +3

      When I play I usually like to have a couple bi-directional loops with as many of the special shapes as (reasonably) possible, and a couple dedicated interchanges that all the other lines can use to get special passengers there, (usually 1 interchange 4-6 stops on the loop, and I try to put them on triangles or squares.)

  • @Cp.Chaos707

  • @zara02caan
    @zara02caan Před 2 lety +88

    Heyyy advice for this game:
    It's okay to have 2 or 3 circles in a row.
    There is only one or very few squares, but lots of square passengers. That needs to be your interchange and all of your lines should be connected to it.
    Circles lines are not that good, so don't sacrifice tunnels just to make it a circle

    • @normalchannel2185
      @normalchannel2185 Před 2 lety +12

      yep. also make sure that every line has a station of each shape. the main reason why RCE died was because lines like the red, pink, and purple did not have any connection to the star station. so slowly star passengers start piling up, causing a station's capacity to permanently decrease

    • @Red-Tower
      @Red-Tower Před 2 lety +3

      @@normalchannel2185 you don't have to have every line directly connected to every shape. They will change lines to get to where they need to go, but it does increase congestion at stations, especially the ones they use as an interchange. They'll also prioritize the shortest route I believe, which can mean skipping some trains or stations that would otherwise eventually get them there. But sometimes it's really not feasible to connect every line to every shape.

    The unique shapes require two strategies.
    First, they should become transit centers, fed by three or more lines. This way, passengers do not have to transfer, which means your stations do not trigger the timer as often.
    Second, create a small circle line without any duplication which includes as many unique stations as possible, and which crosses as many other lines. Passengers will transfer, but this short speedy circle will clear more passengers.

      True, but that's not a bad thing: having more than one line going through one station also means that it will be visited by trains more often, thus reducing the chance of getting too crowded. Usually the stations that lose you the game are those on the edge of the map that are only visited by a single train once in a lifetime or those that you've ignored for too long and forgot to properly connect to the rest of your network

    1) Maybe you could try making as many intersections as you can. That way the game can come up with the best route on its own?
    2) What if you tried making a grid of sorts? Grids seem to work in city skylines so maybe it will work for mini metro?
    3) Maybe you could prioritize making sure you have no repeating shapes, even if it forces you to take a longer route?
    4) This one could also work with any other strategies, and I think I’ve occasionally seen you do this in other mini metro videos. But what if you periodically wipe the map so that you can basically remap the lines once it gets too hectic?

    I think a general idea is to locate which shapes are the rarest, and make every line pass through that rare shape, start with many small loops in multiple directions, with the rare shape as the center an expand from there. Once the rare shape has a twin, then the lines closest to it will reroute to the new rare duplicate. I think that will generally be a good strategy. Anyways, I miss Timberborners, when we getting back to Shameville AKA Happyville

    • @MGSLurmey
      @MGSLurmey Před 2 lety +2

      At the start of the game you want your lines to all pass through at least one square, as that is the most common passenger shape while being one of the least common stations. In the late game, you'll want them to all pass through any and all of the unique shapes (star, teardrop, football etc) of which there is only ever one station for.
      That means it seems like it's often beneficial to have a midgame reshuffle once most of the map is revealed, so you can design your lines around these rarest shapes.
      It's also OK to have multiple circle stations in a line, as long as the train servicing them is large enough or frequent enough, as circle stations spawn the most passengers. This also means it's a bad idea to have a circle station as an interchange, as their capacity is already reduced compared to other shapes due to them spawning more passengers.

    When making circle lines, try to keep each line as short as possible. So, grab as many lines as you can, as fast as you can, and try to keep them all the same length.

    • @TheUntamedNetwork
      @TheUntamedNetwork Před 2 lety +2

      This doesn't make any sense. You want some lines to have higher capacity then others.
      Imagine you have a rail network with 3 lines, and across all of them you need 4 train carts worth of capacity.
      If each of them requires 1.3 carts, you have to use 6 carts/trains in order to stop them all slowly filling up.
      If instead you had 2 smaller lines and 1 bigger one. 2+1+1 capacity required, you can meet the needs of the system with only 4 carts/trains

    I don’t know if you could do this. Do something like the one line challenge but use all the lines overlapping each other. And then set the trains and intervals all around the line and just start adding extra carriages.

  • @khawajaabdullah8310
    @khawajaabdullah8310 Před rokem +3

    I think you should delete all lines after every week, and make new routes. That way you can observe better and engineer better. And making circles are compulsory in this game, as they rotate all the items. Lines are full after 5th week. So, after that you can add more carriages to locomotives.

    The way to make massive highscores is to micro every thing to the brink of madness.
    So you see how you link up everything ? Don't do that.
    What you need to do, is to have multiple lines available. And then you link the shapes required from the passengers at the stations with your lines. Once he delivered the passengers. Unlink the line from the now empty stations. And link it to the other ones.
    And you rinse and repeat for 10 hours straight. Then boom. You've got yourself a crazy highscore.
    And you're probably clinically insane
