    I am happy to have changed my mind in time to buy the 500X instead the 310GS in Thailand. I am a fan of flat-twin, and only a 600 cc flat-twin,60 HP, 200 kg maximal weight,in the spirit of the R 80 GS would make me come back to BMW. I still own a 1985 R 80 RT which I use in France. Even with the best additionnal options the 310 GS will lack power and torque. Even my old R60/6 with 42 HP was a pleasure to ride because it got enough torque at low revs.

    Awesome product and I have to say I prefer the look of black wheels on this bike, so I'm glad to see that is an option. (I keep seeing gold so I was wondering about that.)

    This honestly seems perfect. I was so excited for the g310gs but when looking at reviews I just felt disappointed and underwhelmed, especially with the suspension but I think this will make the bike worth it for me plus I enjoy working on my bikes and modifying them so this giving me a chance to do that just makes me more excited

    I just posted up my initial unbiased 1000 mile owner review of mine. Absolutely LOVE that light little flea of a bike! I am 41, been riding bikes off & on since 9, have owned over 22 bikes, 15 in the last 4 years, and this one is the most FUN to just hop on and go anywhere on I have had. :-D I am building mine alreay, but cant wait to get my hands on some Rally Raid goodies to make it even better!!! Namely the front suspension upgrade and the tubeless spoke rims !!!

      @@GigiDuruDuru no problem'o. I did, Rally Raid has them. Or did have. I never put them on. I remained 100% satisfied with the stock rims with the Kenda K784 big block tires and then later traded the bike in on the Harley Fat Bob.

    For its price point I think it fits a certain niche in the adv market .. I was at BMW the other day and seen the gs 310 and was impressed by the build quality as well as the fit and finish... I would buy one as a second bike to kick around .. I currently own a tiger 800 ...

    So its turned a $6k bike (Now $7k) into a $10k bike with expensive bits whose costs you do not get back at resale. You might as well buy a stock $10k bike in the first place with it all done standard and which will be worth $8k in 3 years.
    In Australia, used 310gs's are going for $5k.

    • @Liberty4Ever
      @Liberty4Ever Před 3 lety

      I had a DR350 and it was a great urban assault vehicle, and it's great for the intended dual sport purpose of riding on the street to get to the trails, and then riding the trails. The DR has more ground clearance and suspension travel so it's better for technical trail riding, but it's a street legal trail bike. It's not optimized for adventure touring. The G310GS that I now own is much more comfortable, easier to ride, and has a great rack for packing luggage. The saddle is much lower so it's not as easy to tip over. The build quality and components are better too. People do motorcycle camp with a DR, but the DR and GS are very different animals, just as sport bikes and touring bikes are different.

      100+ lbs heavier and more than double the price. But I do agree on the cost of the upgrades but wheels and suspension cost mad money. Even the 800GS will need suspension work. in stock trim a good looking machine at a good price. Waiting for them to do upgrade on the Himalayan now..

    It's cheap entry to join GS prestige club..not bad bike but the Green machine Versys 300X beat it..
    The Rally Kit turn it to really beautiful Adventure Tourer bike,andcthete more mods to come; but the price goes up too high,it will reach big ones..so what the point then..?!

    • @ADVMoto
      @ADVMoto  Před 6 lety +4

      As much as I'm a fan of the new V3X, they are quite different bikes...especially after the kit is installed. Most notable difference is the engines which have different power delivery characteristics. The V is perfectly at home at highway speeds all day thanks to the high-spinning bulletproof parallel twin. Where it suffers though is the notable lack of low end torque, which is particularly useful off-road. It's likely that in stock form the V may have the overall edge, especially considering it's nicely tuned and forgiving suspension. After the upgrades though it may prove to be advantageous with an off-road bias. That's a couple of grand over the bike price though so it's not a fair comparison. The 310GS would probably be even better if it could use a 130 rear instead of a 150 (which is stock). Lightening up the rear wheel by 8lb or so would make the suspension have to work less and possibly pep up the bike a bit. Very possible it may happen.
