    Dell's new XPS 13 2-in-1 with Ice Lake is an incredibly impressive laptop, being able to cover basically all of the bases, while offering a great price and premium build quality.
    The new aluminum chassis is very strong yet lightweight.
    The newly redesigned keyboard looks very clean and allows for extra-wide keys that are fantastic to type on.
    There's also a new 16:10 aspect ratio that gives you a lot of extra vertical viewing space, along with the super high-quality 3840x2400 resolution.
    And much more than that, so be sure to watch the entire review!

    One thing that every laptop does (so I've tested at work, I work at a major laptop/other electronics retailer in the UK) is when you shut the lid or put the laptop to sleep, the fans will turn off... No dell XPS laptop in 2018 did tis, including both the 13 and 15'6 inch XPS models or the Dell G7.
    I'm interested in this laptop purely because of the design and specs but.. can you confirm if you shut the lid the fans turn off and the thing actually goes to sleep?

    I just got mine this week. I replaced my main desktop with this and the dell TB16 dock and use it as my main workstation. Coming from a Xeon E3 1230v3, it's a moderately large performance increase - It was the Haswell generation - bumping up to the brand new core architecture.
    The only, ONLY, complaint I have about it is the damn CABC - The Content Aware Brightness Control. It is constantly increasing and decreasing the screen brightness and it is just the most annoying thing I have ever encountered. In previous generations of the XPS 13 and 2in1, there was a BIOS switch that you could disable it, but it appears that is missing from this generation.

    this machine has been awesome for me. I am editing a movie on Davinci Resolve with it now, and it's been flawless thus far. Over 2 hours on my timeline, (1080), and it hasn't had a hiccup so far. I'm about to get to color grading, and so, I think I'm gonna add an eGPU. I am currently using a deck link card housed in a breakout box to feed my external monitor, and so... the eGPU should keep my workflow going smoothly. I have the i7, 16 gig RAM, 256 ssd, but I have a Glyph Atom external 1TB ssd. So far, without any external graphics help, the internal iris graphics have been amazing. Other than the fact that the fingerprint scanner craps out all the time, and the touch screen requires a re start occasionally, this machine has been a warrior for me.

    I got the top-of-the-line i7, 4K touch screen, 16 GB RAM, 500 GB SSD. Pros: Beautiful display, fast as all get-out, beautiful exterior, love the thin bezels. The fans rarely come on and when they do they are very quiet. I love the small power brick. So-so: The keyboard is OK but not great. I would have preferred that it wasn’t as wide as it is. I’m getting used to it but I would rather not have to adjust. Cons: Battery life is much less than I expected: 4 hours with battery saver, 6 hours in airplane mode. If I had it to do all over again I wouldn’t get the 4K, although the character crispness and UI crispness is outstanding. I wish there was an older USB port. If it had to be all USB-C, why not give us two on one side? Very limited. I’m hoping future versions of Windows can get more battery life. 1909 is supposed to be better. This laptop was the first one certified in Intel’s Athena project which is supposed to mean battery life is over 9 hours. Ha!

      thats why 1440p (16:9) or 1600p (16:10) on 13" laptops is a nice resolution.sharp (imo) enough, but it doesn`t hit the battery life as much as a 4k panel.gaming laptops should have a 120hz 1440p display imo. (I know the razerblade pro has a 4k 120 hz panel so 1440p 120hz is easily possible)

The new Stealth 13 with 10th Gen and GTX1650 graphics looks very tempting as does the large track pad but not a 2-in-1... decisions decisions, will have to wait for real world reviews of Razer to come in now it's being released

    Hey nice review. If you still have this laptop I'd like it if you can support me with it. I really need one for productivity.

    The hardest decision I have had to make is the Arctic White vs the black I just ordered the 2020 dell xps 13 2 in 1 with 4k screen 7390 i7 10th generation 1tb "32gb" of ram 4k and 3 years accidental damage warranty and the ethernet full-size USB 3 round hub for just under $3400 Canadian dollars tax and delivery included.....I ordered the black one but I'm still thinking I should change order to white at $50 more, well I'm going to go to best buy to once in on the 26 of August 2020 and compare, dell gives 30 days to send back haha #Dilemmas 😂😂😂🇨🇦🍁

    Dell provides more bass than the Iphone that's why you think the phone is louder than the laptop,but i think i love the bass of the laptop

    “Best 13” windows laptop”? I think the new HP Spectre 13 OLED might give it some stiff competition 😬

      stan_sprinkle Indeed! My Blue Spectre arrived a week ago and the trackpad is flawless; 2 finger scrolling is buttery smooth

      Banding was terrible on the OLED panel I had. Make sure and look for that, because it just gets worse over time.

    I thought i7 10th gen has 6 cores

    • @MrDucatiV4
      @MrDucatiV4 Před 3 lety

      The older comet lake 14nm 10th gen did have a 6 core model. The newer ice lake 10nm 10th only have 4 core for the XPS 13 model. The 10nm version is just as good as the 6 core 14nm model and it's more power efficient. The ice lake iris G7 graphics in the i7 model is 50% faster than the UHD 620 model in the older XPS 13 model. Dell opt for the 25watt ice lake model in the new XPS 13 2 in 1 model and it's faster than other 13" ice lake laptop from HP, Lenovo, Apple, ect since they use the 15watt model.

    video about it? It would really help a lot of people including me.
    Please read the comments from the bottom of this Dell official page.

      @ZenMinus Před 4 lety

      Hi You got that wrong! It's ONLY Americans that CANNOT pronounce SOL-DER correctly. It is pronounced using the "L" - just like in "sol-diers", soldiers are not described as "SAAADiers".
