You could literally pick ANY of their songs and STILL be blown away every time. They are a force of Nature!
Kirstie and Mitch are chameleons. Different hair, style...and if you see videos from 2017 on-bass is now Matt Sallee. Avi’s mom was ill, and he left PTX in late 2017. It was amicable. He helped PTX to find Matt!
I love that you’re starting your PTX journey.
Any time you ask yourself “is that Mitch?” or “is that Kirstie?” the answer is always “yes!” They are chameleons and change their looks constantly.
Please add to your list: Bohemian Rhapsody, Imagine, Mad World and Say Something”. But truly you can’t go wrong with any choice from their catalog. Have fun!!
Their first Grammy! Better than most actual techo songs. They won another Grammy for Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. They do an instrumental song. It will amaze you. I have seen them in person, they are incredible live.
Everything you hear, they can do it live very well 😬, and avi can whistle and bass at the same time, mind blown right?

Yup, Avi and Kevin really drive this piece and Kevin especially does a crazy job of providing sounds that really make it sound like a tech piece. This is a very early work and Mitch has changed a lot even in the three years between this an Hallelujah. To be fair, he and Kirsti are changelings, rarely if ever do you see them look the same one video to the next. BTW they won a Grammy for this one, filmed on a budget of about $400 and shot mostly in Avi's kitchen and closet.

Your reaction was the best reaction I've seen in a very long time!!! thank you! This was their first grammy win. They have 3. All from their earlier years together. They made this in Avi and Kevin's apartment for about $400. You are so right on about the bass and percussion. I hone in on them immediately for every one of there performances. They are all uniquely talented but Avi is my favorite. I love the warmth and emotion in his voice and he has such a range. Please watch the videos Say something, Love Again (written by Avi and Kevin), Imagine, Bohemian Rhapsody and their second Grammy win Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Enjoy the journey. The Pentaholics are great fans and will support you all the way.

they mentioned Run To You at the end there. I strongly recommend that song. It's literally my favorite song of all time. It's an original song of theirs written by Avi and Kevin and its STUNNING.
I LOVE the various stunned looks you had on your face, because that is exactly how I responded the first time I saw this. Also, since you rightly shouted out how incredible Kevin is, I strongly encourage you to check out his solo cover of "Down." You will truly be BLOWN AWAY.
This won a Grammy.
This was the video that made them worldwide superstars, won them their first Grammy, and finally got them signed to one of the world's largest record labels. They had booked studio time to record the song and shoot the video, but their plans fell through at the last minute. So they ended up recording the song in a closet and shooting the video in Avi's kitchen! The pre-production budget was only $400 (not counting the editing cost, which was also done quite reasonably as they had begun a relationship with a brand new production company called FifGen Films, with whom they still work to this day).
i believe that daft punk is the where they got there first grammy.

Loved your reaction! And don't apologize about pausing. If you want to stop to share your thoughts or listen to something again, go ahead. We've seen these videos so often, we know them by heart. It'll also help with not getting your videos blocked or taken down because of a copyright strike by their label.

Daft Punk won them their first Grammy for best arrangement, instrumental or a capella. They recorded it in a closet and filmed it in the kitchen, then edited it on their laptop. Cost them about $400 dollars. If you want to check out their other Grammy winning songs: #2 was Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (from the Nutcracker - a classical instrumental song without words), and #3 is a duet of Jolene with none other than Dolly Parton.
The song that Avi mentioned at the end, Run To You (another original of theirs), is the complete opposite of Daft Punk, a ballad with five part harmonies. It's definitely worth checking out as well.
No matter what song you decide to watch from Pentatonix, you can't go wrong. Whether it's a ballad or an up-tempo song or even a rap song - they can do it all! Tomorrow they're releasing a 90s Dance Medley.

Avi Kaplan left amicably in 2017, but his solo music is great, look for change on the rise, reaction please, if you want to hear.
He sang all the vocals, makes all his music, plays most instruments and even directs some of his videos.
He is crazy talented and one of my favorite artists. Pentatonix is doing amazingly with Matt Sallee as bass, Avi even helped chosing him.
The interesting part is that near the end, they were doing two songs at once, overlaying each other. THAT is my definition of "busy".

This is one of my three favorite videos of theirs. The other two are 'Love Again' and their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody.
I appreciate you staying on the pentatonix train and love this reaction to Daft Punk. I remember the first time I saw this video I was like..."Holy Crap, there's so much going on"...lol But, it was fantastic none the less. If you are going to do more Pentatonix they just recently released a "90's Dance medley" video. You should so check that out...really really good. Also, I saw that you did a Home Free reaction video as well. They just recently released their cover of "Never gonna give you up" by Rick Astley. It's so hilarious and when you see the video it has an 80's feel to it along with their dance moves to pay tribute to not only the 80's but Rick Astley. I think you'll get a kick out of it. One other one you could react to is their cover of "When a man loves a woman" by Percy Sledge. This song was also covered by Michael Bolton. Austin took the lead on this one and slayed the hell out of it. It's an amazing cover please check it out. Thank you again for this reaction. As far as Mitch looking different, I understand he's had some health issues that caused weight loss. But, yes, they do frequently look different in their videos.

You should check out Home Free's cover of "Ring of Fire", featuring Avi Kaplan. Two amazing basses in one song.
In addition to Home Free, another great a capella group is Voiceplay. They did a song called "Just Sing" which is a massive collaboration with MANY a capella artists. If you watch that one, be sure to turn on the Closed Captioning. They included information about who everyone is.
They won their first of three Grammys for this.

Every time I read the comments on a PTX video/reaction, it always makes me sad because I feel like Scott never gets enough appreciation.
Every reactor pauses just before the Scott "Like the legend of the phoenix" lyric, as if they've seen it before and know there' a slight pause coming up and a change in melody.

I rarely enjoy reactors who DON'T pause. I like to go along for the ride, feel the wonderment, and enjoy you folks really discovering the music, and that usually involves pausing and rewinding.

Hi Gabbsi. don't feel like you are the only one who is a bit startled with Pentatonix. I have followed them for awhile and my jaw still drops. It seem like I listen to one of their songs and I am blown away by the level of talent , The creativity alone is just crazy. And then I will listen to another song of theirs and it is just seems to have that unbelievable level of creativity, even though it is a totally different song. There are several suggestions in the comments. It almost doesn't matter which one you pick. They are just all crazy insane good. We love you Gabbsi. When they got the Grammy for this Scott explained they recorded this in a closet and did the video at the kitchen table. Budget $400 I think. Go see the Grammy video. I love that Mitch dropped back to escort Kristin up the steps. They met when they were 8 or 10. Met Scott doing local shows, and went to high school together, formed The Trio and did youtubes.
Got talked into doing The Singoff but they needed 5. Avi was recommended but they found Kevin celloboxing on youtube, Had 1 day to get acquainted and won the show.

There IS a lot to process! On some videos, I have to watch a couple of times to be able to comprehend what I saw. I love your reactions! Your facial expressions tell so much. There are many suggestions below. Every one of their songs are fantastic, you won't be disappointed. Thanks for reacting and need more PTX! There are originals (they wrote), covers, medley, mash-ups, harmonies, Christmas Albums, they have individual You Tube Channels, plus! Avi was in the original group, but had to leave amicably for personal reasons and helped find Matt in 2017. (Avi Kaplan has his own channel also) You should check out some of his songs too.

Yes there is a ton going on. Usually I will watch the video like five times the first time I see it. Each time I just try to focus on one member and it makes you appreciate each part so much more. B you may want to try that on your own sometimes

You should do their "Love Again", another dance tune. It's amazing.

Pausing is usually ok, best way to hedge with pausing is to back up a few seconds when you do so you don't miss anything.
