  • Sure, the back of the current 2 dollar bill looks gorgeous with the Declaration of Independence, but some of the older $2 bills actually beat it. In this clip from the maker of The Two Dollar Bill Documentary, see all the old twos and learn some numismatics history as well. See Silver Certificates, us treasury notes, coin notes and any bill released into the economy. All the bills leading up to today's federal reserve note.

    Very nice pictures of the various $2 backs throughout our history, but the face of the 1896 Educational series is NOT a school teacher. The official title is "Science presenting Steam and Electricity to Industry and Commerce". This is actually printed in very small print at bottom of the vignette. So the "school teacher" is actually a goddess representing "Science" and she is presenting the two new children "Steam" and "Electricity" to two other goddesses representing "Industry" and "Commerce". Rest of the information was correct. For a bit of information the battleship on the $2 Federal Reserve Banknote is generally considered to be the Battleship USS New York.

    Hi John;
    here is aquestion for you? I own a 1/2 sheet of uncut $2.00 bills from the Fed I believe, at least the paper and printing is exactly like the $2.00 bills i already own, but all the serial numbers are the same. Do you know why they printed a sheet with all the same numbers?

    • @TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary
      @TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary  Před 4 lety +2

      They should not be the same. That's very odd, and I've never heard of it. It could be a sheet printed strictly as a novelty or sale item instead of one pulled from an actual printing. In that case, I can see why they'd have the same (bogus and unused) serial number. You could also have bought that from someone other than the Fed, and they made it to look like the real bills but it really isn't. I'd need more info to give you a better answer!

    • @weighit
      @weighit Před 4 lety

      You made me go look closer to my sheet. The serial numbers are different, the last three digits are all the same but all the preceeding numbers are different. It is a real sheet of $2.00 bills. I guess in the three years of owning the sheet I never looked that close to the serial numbers. Someone turned this sheet into the bank teller and she held it for me knowing I was a coin guy and might be interested in owning it. She got a thank you gift!
