    Hi Tom
I too did copenhagen last week, this was my first full distance event, after a great swim I got a puncture at 7 miles and then another at 14 miles, with the thought of 98 miles to go with no more tubes and no more CO2 due to a faulty nozzle my mind was all other the place which made me loose concentration and hit a curb causing a nasty crash with damage to me and the bike with 80 miles to go, I had to realine my gears and raise my saddle and climbed back on again and prayed I'd make it to the run. I finished in 11hrs 52mins and was ulated.
No matter how much you prepare you never know what may happen, you carried on and finished and you are a 3xIronman. I strive to join you one day.
Best of luck with Sub 10 next time - Greg

You did amazingly well to finish with such a lot of bad luck throughout the whole race. Massively well deserved shout of “You are an ironman!” as you cross the finish line in an awesome time as well. Huge well done and thanks for the comment.

Tom, mate, we had the exact same race and we were both gunning for sun 10. The course wasn’t great and the rain made for
a hardish hard. There was a lot of sitting up due to sharp cornering as well. We did the exact same marathon time as well because of injuries we had been carrying into the race. Everyone has told me to look at the positives and think of the grit we had to find to get through that IM injured. We’ll get the sub 10 in the next race

Thanks so much for this comment mate and good to know I’m not alone! It was a tough time out there but we are only stronger for it.

Apart from the nutrition the day and morning before, 2*320 Maurten is not a huge amount for a 5hr + bike. I’d be thinking almost double that.
Nevertheless, well done on sticking it out. Days like this suck, but they make you appreciate the good days 100 times more 💪💪

Thanks mate I also had 2 x 750ml water and 6 maurten gels but you’re right I need to be taking in more.

@@Tomridesandruns Perhaps try training with the extra power nutrition. I find it better to get as much power down (I use Infinit) on the first 80% of the bike before the tummy fills up. Leaves room for gels and coke etc on the run.
But overall, 1g of carb/kg of body weight per hour is a reasonable rule of thumb.
      Good luck next time 👍👍

I was there and finished in 12.01 and really enjoyed it - run was tough but swim and bike couldn't have gone much better. Good luck with sub 10
