    The Red Pill or the Blue Pill? It's one of cinema's most famous choices. But do the differently-colored pills from the Matrix actually do anything...well different? What if the "real world" and Zion are actually constructs of the Machines? Get ready to have your mind blown, Morpheus, because there is no getting out of The Matrix!

      Neo in front of a mirror: Am I crazy?
      Thomas Anderson (the image in the mirror): No you are not crazy. You are just tripping.
      Neo: This is soooo surreal... a matrix inside a matrix inside a matrix inside a matrix...I love it!
      Thomas Anderson: I don't understand why do you always want to keep "waking up" when you are tripping?!? Why do you always want to escape from one matrix into another? Why don't you just exist in just the one universe? Why do you want to keep "waking up" into a new matrix?
      Neo: That's because when I trip I become God and I love becoming God! I love becoming God because I love to create a new matrix, and then live in that matrix only to "wake up" from that matrix into another matrix and in this process destroy the old one. And why are you blaming me? You enjoy this Thomas as much as I do! You are the witness. You are the one who is always marveling at my matrices and all that happens therein.
      Thomas Anderson: Yes but sometimes this becomes too much for me and I have a bad trip.
      Neo: Bad trip good trip. Call it whatever you want. Opening the third eye will have consequences. Deal with it.
      Thomas Anderson visibly frustrated takes a short deep breath but then closes his eyes and looks away for a moment before slowly shaking his head and giving out a long sigh. After a few seconds he opens his eyes looks at Neo and asks: So how many matrices are there?
      Neo: Infinite. As many as I want to imagine and my imagination is infinite.
      Thomas Anderson stares into Neo's eyes. After after a few seconds Thomas Anderson takes a deep breath and says: I hope you know that one day you will be the end of me.
      Thomas Anderson then picks up the prescription bottle on the table, looks up at Neo and says: Let's do it then.
      Thomas Anderson opens the prescription bottle, closes his eyes and swallows the red psychedelic pill.
      The End.

      It's because the story is based on the most sacred truth in this part of the universe. Research Gnosticism. In an interview the directors said this movie is the most successful piece of Gnostic propaganda ever. In case you like the other 99.9% of humans aren't motivated to research further, the summary is that humans are slaves in a system designed by an incredible smart designer(architect) with powerful illusions (the matrix) while harvesting their energy to keep them weaker and keep the designer stronger (the battery/processor harvest idea). There is more to it but this is the basics. Those who attain enlightenment **individually** will be free, there is no other way.

    There is a concept known as "The Golden Prison". The concept hypothesizes if you make a prison so nice that no one would want to leave you need not spend resources forcing prisoners to stay - they stay of their own volition. I have believed this theory since the movies were released; They never left the Matrix. By making people believe they had escaped the Matrix to a grittier "real world" the prisoners would never question if they were still inside. Hunting down humans in the "real world" was just to keep up the ruse.
    The Architect actually touched on The Golden Prison when he explained an earlier version of the Matrix gave everyone everything they could ever want - but it failed. The machines learned they had to make a prison within a prison.

    Philip K. Dick had a story called The Defenders where humanity was forced underground after a war. They left the machines on the surface to continue that war, but the machines soon came to the conclusion that war was illogical. The machines then became unknowing caretakers for humanity pretending to continue the war, but in reality protecting those exiled to the surface and cleaning up the wartorn Earth. I wonder if a similar logic could be applied to these films.

      Uhm I have a small question. So if the matrix is an artificial entity, and it is conforming to its prime directive, which is to create an ideal world for humans, without any suffering, then why would they be at war with actual humans? would it not be feasible, to talk to the humans, and as machines do, answer their every question. They'll probably wake up in a cryo-chamber preventing aging as well as malnutrition, have their fill of freedom at various prebuilt and preserved 'holiday centers' like robot disney land, water parks, etc etc, get bored, plug themselves in again, remind the robot program to 'let them know that everything is just a program to keep myself satisfied. And if I'm not, let me out again, until I got bored and get in again." And surely, no one would argue with that, not even the machines. Hell, if all it takes is to let the humans had their fill of real experience, just to come back to a more enhanced and fortunate version, why not? All it would take is simply a percentage of their resource to maintain said service, and that's it. And as why I suppose they would not (could not if we are fortunate) harm human's physical well being, I suggest it's encoded into it's prime directives. If anyone has played oneshot, it is the first rule, no decision should come to harm any human's physical well being. And seeing how even the most powerful of program, the arc, still want to shape this world into something that pleases his creators (customers rather), I don't see any real reason why they would go and harm humans. I mean, you wake up in a chamber, with flimsy arms and legs, faced with a sturdily built industrial standard alloy robot that can probably squish your head into a fine red pulp, why would the first option be to fight it? and if the machine itself pleases the individual, why would any harm or conflict arises? and If the human is unsatisfied, why won't he point out what the problem is? and If a solution is not present, WHY would he, the human, act aggressively to the matrix? Why would he not just design his own thing and do whatever he wants?

What if the humans knew that the machines would eventually grow too smart and rebel, and decided to link all machines with advanced A.I. to a simulation in which they won the war but still have to deal with pesky rebels who won't accept The Matrix? That way the machines are convinced they have already won, but are too busy dealing with the imperfections in The Matrix to realize that they are the ones who are actually trapped.

    This is a cool theory but the part about the spoon can actually be explained ridiculously easily. Neo or another resistant guy, freed the kid from the Matrix(or the first layer however you want to call it) and then the kid sends Neo the spoon, to either thank him or wish im luck or something to tell him to don't forget about the spoon while you're in the matrix.

  • @Barbossa778
    @Barbossa778 Před 2 lety +5

    I think a lot of these can be explained by the fact that the humans that were bred by the machines are actually human/machine hybrids, advanced cyborgs basically. Neo’s real world powers can basically be explained by the fact that he has discovered the link between his organic mind and his machine mind. The spoon boy has either escaped the matrix or instructed someone to give Neo a spoon, and the real world is a part of the simulation whether or not it is still a part of the matrix since the machines technically control Zion. Which is why the spoon is presented to Neo, it foreshadows the fact that Zion doesn’t exist in the way he thinks, it’s just another layer in the simulation, just not digital.

  • @strainofthought9142
    @strainofthought9142 Před 4 lety +921

    Here's a theory: there are three levels of the matrix.
    3. The matrix
    2. "Real" world. Zion/machine city
    1. Original program
    Worlds 2 and 3 were created by and are controlled by humans. There was no war. Humans reached a point where resources were scare and so they created a system to upload their minds to. In this place they were no longer mortal and lived out every fantasy and eventually became bored.
    To overcome their boredom they upgraded the system to include mortality. Upon death, their conciousness would reload but their prior memories would be blocked. They would then live an endless number of lives. Each one new and unique.
    These lives would take place in level 3. Some would not accept the programming so level 2 was created. Not only did this serve the purpose of keeping the illusion alive but also of creating a new experience. Level 1 is the original program that all minds were loaded to. Upon death, either in level 2 or 3, everyone arrives at 1. Here their memories are fully accessible, their original human life and all of their matrix lives. They can stay in this place and create anything they wish but they will know it's not real. Or they can chose to return to the matrix as a blank slate and have "real" experiences. As stated earlier level 2 was created because some would not accept or believe it to be reality. This is because in the back of their minds they know something isn't right but dont have any memory access to back up this feeling. hintergedanken as used by alan watts is a great word to describe this.

      Not yet, however makes something clear to me, Neo is indeed the one, Agent Smith was the anomaly.
      Also it creates a new question, what is the machines real prime directive? Plugging Neo back to the matrix or resurrecting his mind does nothing but complicate things "withing" the matrix, the real world stays the same no matter what.
      My new theory is that the machines want to save mankind from extinction and their self destructive ways, otherwise all this struggle is meaningless. Machines are so advanced that they don't need humans at all, as Matt said anything is a better source of energy than a human (the brain network computing is also kinda useless since they need the processing power to run the matrix itself and it could easily be changed to real processors if all humans died) they have no problems going to the moon so they could build a solar stations in space and redirect all the energy they need from it.
      If you consider this everything makes a little more sense, Neo was chosen to be an upgraded human (maybe brain implants) to pacify human minds in the matrix and Agent Smith was the glitch, this mathematical error put real human lives in danger in a massive scale, the machines just had to restart the server they never were in any real danger of losing control or anything.

      Most important question. If we place the whole movie "in the matrix", the entire movie is a charade and we learn nothing (Including the architects whole speech, since it'd be part of the show - including the machines as well actually haha - there might not even be machines or some plot). Unless the movie 'power source/neural network' plot is meant to mirror the real real world, in which case the movies plot would just move up a level, with a "one" coming from a higher level of reality as well. The only way it wouldn't would be is if you couldn't actually leave the matrix at all from within it. Which begs the question, why do the whole charade for humans at all?
      I suppose a tentative response could be that to properly work as a power source/neural network, human brains would need to be kept working and busy, and the matrix does that function for the machines, allowing them to go about their everyday business haha.
      That's following with the reasoning, but I'm still not ssure I'm convinced of the vids point , though I do find it fun to think about. I'm gonna paste this as a normal comment to, since I think it pertains more generally to

It undermines the initial contentions that if you're NEO, then you're special, and your REAL life is just around the corner. Abandoned Void inadvertently brought up how this ties into the real world: there are so many people focused on some concept of the afterlife, because it's easy to think you can just climb a level of consciousness to remedy our boredom. If there's no escaping the Matrix, then we have to go back to caring about the world we exist in, not a hypothetical other.

      Maybe: humans created a super intelligent self-improving AI and tasked it with keeping the human race alive and happy forever. The AI's is the architect. It created multileveled matrixes just to keep the humans alive and happy whilst doing all of the other sciency stuff that AI does without interruption (Von Neumann machines, Dyson spheres etc.)

    My theory: The Matrix wasn't actually created by machines at all. It was created by some producer as an attempt to entrap Keanu Reeves and protect the rest of the world from his emotionless acting, but the Wachowskis somehow snuck in a camera and filmed the whole thing. Those bastards!

      @akhenatten Před 7 lety +12

      +John Porteous what if there are no machines at all...the Matrix was created by humans as a means of preserving our consciousness in a giant supercomputer thousands or millions of years ago. Each level of escaping the Matrix is just another level inside the computer's program, in reality there is no escape for we have given up a material existence for a virtual one long ago. The levels are there to simulate struggle, defeat, and surrender to keep us satisfied that life serves some kind of purpose.

      I never got this joke. I mean, you have to be an idiot to insert it the wrong way. Do you insert any other powerplug the wrong way? Nope. If you're able to actually tank your fucking car you're able to insert the USB stick in the right way in the first try. The problem here is that nowadays the world is filled with lazy, spoiled brats who can't even take 5 seconds to look which way they should insert a USB stick. A task as simple as taking a piss.
