Fix a flat hurt tpms on newer cars???
Scotty. My 2014 dodge dart gt always has some bad wheel bearings. Where can I find some actual quality wheel bearings?
Scotty, do some review on daihatsu car. never see you review on these company.
Note, Some cars batteries are NOT VISIBLE, but there is a Pos leed that comes from the battery that will have a RED plastic tag lid on it, it will have a fair size leed and a bolt thru it, I know Dodge Avengers 2010 are like this and others. The battery is under the fender up front .. Good Greif!
Scotty I got told about the jump cable use when I was a first year apprentice but have seen what your saying ps why don't you do a video about the dangers of push starting car eg cat damage :) keep up the good work
43 years later...Scotty just schooled me about jump starting, topping off, coolant, and life in general. Beam me up.
You played it for her; you can play it for me. Play it, Sam. Then beam me up.
Right!!!!! Omg. This is university for me!!!👌🏼🥰💯💫

You should have already known about the perils of topping off.

Scotty, your CZcams channel is a free gift for all car owners. You'll never know how many people you have helped, probably hundreds of thousands or even millions. Thank you so much for doing what you do -- educating us, saving us money, and keeping us safe, all in an entertaining way.
what did he help you with?
Hey Scotty, You forgot one important safety warning about jumper cables. Before hooking up both positive and negative cables to the good car, make sure the clamps are not touching on the other end! Else you will short-circuit your battery and possible explosion! That's why all jumper cable instructions say to hook up positive on both ends first, then negatives. This make short-circuit impossible. I know most people don't read instructions! Thanks for the entertaining videos!
What!? I was ALWAYS taught to connect ground first for safety!
I’m a 65 year old woman, I’ve been following or look for his videos for any problems I have.
He is so detailed, he has saved me thousands of$$ in the last few years! Love him
Thanks for the charging warning. I never heard that before.

It's like my dad giving me advice every time I watch your channel! Thank you for all you do sir! Good luck in all of your edvors!
Brett Downing I think that was the best compliment I’ve seen in here! I am an older, single female. I get taken advantage of by mechanics when I am in the SF Bay Area, away from a mechanic I’ve known in my hometown for years. Even he used to take advantage until I began to look problems up and listen to Scotty! He knows better than to tangle with me now! He tells his underlings, “Treat Kitty right, because her claws come out if you don’t! And take it from m one who knows from experience, she is not going to leave you with any possible way to defend yourself when she’s through! And that’s on a good day!” I actually tend to look at the inner workings of a car like the anatomy/physiology of a human, and being a retired Nurse, I find that to be easier than trying to memorize an entire Chiltons Manual!
Totally get this comment, I feel the same way about Cody'sLab, I lost my twin brother and watching Cody's channel feels like having my brother around again, well sometimes :)

Holy crap! I'm an old man and after watching this video I sure won't be doing a lot of things that I thought were okay. Thanks for setting me straight on these procedures that I have been doing wrong.
He did a good job convincing me to keep my old car. The new cars seem to be designed to prevent owners from working on them or to create traps that would cause damages that need expensive repairs.
Never stop making these videos Scotty you're a legend
I second that!
Whoever edits these is just great
Have you bought a Toyota yet?

I didn't know that about using jumper cables. I've always kept the car running.
Thought that boosted the jumping capacity. Shows what I know. Thanks Scotty!
Terrific! Yes, as a child of the 60's and with my Dad having worked on our cars, a LOT of these things have been STUCK in my brain. Thanks for helping me to kick them out!
I thought I knew everything there was about jump starting but nope, thanks Scotty
never knew about the concern of running both cars could damage the car's electronics, this is valuable information.
thanks Scotty!
I have jumped hundreds of vehicles and this is not true the alternator has a built in voltage regulator and will not fight the other alternator, look it up only one alternator will charge and it will be the one with the least resistance.
@@kkmart43 I'm guessing the 2 alternators could theoretically combine voltages and cause a voltage spike to sensitive equipment. The alternators do not put out solid Volts, but a rectified AC waveform. Combining 2 alternators, from 2 engines would combine the wave-forms could and create random voltage spikes and transients in the electrical systems. the alternators themselves won't be hurt, but advanced/sensitive electronics on newer cars is what I think Scotty was referring too.
The potential risk makes sense to me, just haven't considered it before.
Simply after jump-starting the car, disconnect the jumper cables and not keep them both charging the 'dead car' to mitigate the risk.
I would always unhook the cables as soon as the car started up, never had any issues. Never have both vehicles running with the cables hooked up. If the car doesn't keep running then you're not getting very far anyway.
If you didn't just leave your lights on or something then 10 minutes isn't going to do much, the battery needs to charge overnight and the charging system checked.
And anyone else notice how expensive car batteries have become?
@@kkmart43 thank you your right its like he's addressing ghost stories or myths
@@MissBunny850 Yes your right, he's right about a lot of things but not everything but no body is an expert on everything.
Scotty, I'm really glad to have found your channel. There has been so many different things (do`s and dont's) that I have learned from your videos. I just wish I had found you sooner. I have been topping off my gas tank to the limit, not knowing that I could damage the sensor. Now I have a "service your engine soon" light coming on. Thanks for all your experience and expertise. I will be a faithful follower from now on.
Not topping off the gas tank was great advice. I never knew about vapour canisters. And not letting your gas tank volume get much less than a quarter tank. I never knew about the internal fuel pump. Scotty you arethe BEST. I'm wondering if I should drive from London Ontario down to Houston so you can service my car !
Rev those engines, unless you're jumping another vehicle only rev one of them
Funny as hell
Lmao
loll
If you drive a diesel...you can top off your tank as much as you want. There is no evap system
Driving a diesel will kill your vehicle!
Brandon Burley true enough. Just an overflow line that vents to the ground when you overfill or when the Diesel gets hot and expands in the tank
@Heywood JablowmeDiesel fuel isn't a solvent like gasoline is. It expands a little...but not much.
Thank you, thank you. Am glad you have a good time telling us how to care for our cars. Many Blessings to you Scotty.
Scotty, have you ever thought about including a picture of the Hindenburg exploding when you talk about connecting the jumper cables incorrectly?
Rev Up Your Engines!

Some people believe all Mechanics are crooks, But I believe you are an Angel among all of them. Thank you very much.
Some are crooks. Most are just stoooopid...... jerks that should be flipping burgers.
It pays to learn about your vehicle. Once you know a thing or two, you'll be able to smell bullshit a lot easier.
From you being a stupid copycat that knows nothing about cars
until he gives you his bill for repairs.......LOL
That's because people are idiots and think it's not their fault that their engine blew up when they let the oil changes go for 25,000 miles when they're set for 5,000 miles...
I agree 100% with you. I never realized about overtopping the fuel. Plus, I feel that these so-called quick oil places ruin one's car. They're always trying to push or sell these additives for your engine. One doesn't even know if they put the proper grade oil. You don't see the cans anymore.
Your videos are always fun to watch and I always learn something. You remind me of my grandfather. He was an auto mechanic who had his own shop. Keep up the good work and THANKS!

I wish you luck with your Cruze. My friends 2017 Cruze with 26,000 miles just had a cylinder go out. It was 4000 dollars to fix... luckily his warranty covered it
@@walamo4796 there's a known issue on the 2016/2017 Cruze where the pistons break and screw up the cylinder walls. Good video, thanks Scotty. You probably saved people a lot of heartache with this video. I myself at 63 y/o used to do a lot of those things you mentioned, i.e., remove the negative cable to determine if the alternator was working. If a person isn't actively working in the mechanic world, it's easy to miss some of these points. Appreciate you and your videos.
a simple test is headlights, if they dim when idling, either your battery is failing or alternator bushes. With the newer cars, batteries only last around 3 years. Huge power draws running computers and all the electronic gear. Some jump cables have a voltage regulator on them, as soon as the car starts, disconnect

The biggest tip I took from this video was the jump starting, did'nt know you had to keep just one car running oops.
me either.... jumped many cars and always just connect up and start the dead one...
@@liamgeorgie2024 It's not really a good idea to jump a car from a running car. The alternator is not designed to output the hundreds of amps needed to start an engine. That's the battery's job. You shouldn't leave the engine running unless you're worried it won't start and you'll have two dead cars.
Jump boxes are safer on new cars. No 60hz or square wave ripple, like the charger/boosters.
Amazingly useful knowledge! Thank you.

the jumper car before stating the jumped car. I grew up in Minneapolis and we always jump started cars the old way.
no. If you do that, the car won't start. The cables must be connected to both cars to start. You disconnect immediately after it starts.
@@marks6663 Watch Scotty again. He says to use the good battery to recharge the weak battery for 10 minutes, and then disconnecting the batteries and trying to start the car. Of course, you could just use a battery charger if you have mains power nearby.
Never considering the effect of two alternators running at the same time, learned something new today....Never considered plugging up the evap canister with fuel either!
The only thing that would have even occurred to me to do would have been to start a jump-started car while still connected. Even though it's been years, maybe decades since I've jump-started a car, the advice is worthwhile.

Scotty these are truly words of wisdom! I see every one of those situations routinely. Old school tricks no longer apply but it is difficult to convince customers of that.
I'm guilty of the jump starting thing myself. I kept burning out voltage regulators in my Dodge so I quit jump starting people. A wise tech told me it was because I kept the engine running when the other person started their car.

Never knew about not running the good car’s engine during a jumpstart
Because it's bullshit. 2 alternators running? 😱
12V + 12V = 12V
The connections are parallel.
That two alternators explanation makes no sense. The voltage you see across the battery should be DC. The only problem I can imagine is if the donor car has a weak battery too and the recipient car's starting attempts to draw very high currents from the donor car's alternator.
@@matthewgardiner9015 , thats if its hooked up wrong.
@@lastdeadmouse7 I hear Scotty say a lot of stuff that is bullshit.
That actually makes sense. You need the battery only, what's the point of having donor running, battery is alive anyways. And when dead car starts drawing current from running donor, voltage may fluctuate and cause damage in running electronics, because voltage is dependent on current being drawn. So just keep donor not running and keep it safe.
Great video. Lots of valuable advice all rolled into one video. You're the man Scotty!
