  • What’s going on guys and welcome back to the channel! In old and recent times, many roller coaster manufacturers have taken to the idea of building rides that can easily be assembled and disassembled, generally with the intent to run them on travelling fair circuits. As a result, in 1995, Intamin amusement rides would unveil the world’s LARGEST PORTABLE INVERTED ROLLER COASTER at a fair known as Düsseldorf in Germany. With a height of nearly 100 feet, 4 inversions, and speeds of up to 50 miles per hour, this extremely ambitious coaster has now become one of the most unique ever, and is still the only one ever made by Intamin. But what is this coaster? And what is it’s history? This is the story of Intamin Amusement Rides’ Euro-Star. ⭐️🎢

    Giovanola's involvement explains why it looks like a B&M invert. Bolliger and Mabillard came up with that distinctive track design while they were working at Giovanola, and Giovanola continued to use it without them (Goliath at SFMM and Titan at SFOT are other examples).

      Giovanola also built an invert (Anaconda) which is almost exactly the same layout as Batman with a few more elements

    Thanks for the video. This coaster visited my home town in Germany several times and swallowed all my pocket money :) It was indeed uncomfortably rough though and I believe it left many people behind with s serious headache. Nevertheless due to its presence on the Octoberfest there was quite a cult around this coaster.
    It also had 1 serious accident in September 1996.

    The best proof that legends aren't always great. So many bashing SLC's but saying they wanted to ride Euro Star. Euro Star made many SLC's seem smooth. And yet here I am reminiscing about my rides on it throughout the 90s and early 00's and still sad that it's not part of the German funfair scene anymore.

  • @DJTooMass
    @DJTooMass Před 2 lety +3

    Rode this one many times in Düsseldorf over the years. It was never the smoothest of rides but at the end of its travelling days, this coaster was a real pain, especially in the back rows. Even the worst SLC couldn't deliver the pain of Euro-Star on a hot day late in the evening in the back row. But it was an awesome ride on a funfair nevertheless!

    • @ldngigs8416
      @ldngigs8416 Před 2 lety +1

      Agreed. It wasn't a fun ride and still, it was part of the German fun fair scene. Everyone talked bad about it and then 5min stood in line to buy a ticket anyway - year after year after year lol

    This was the inverted big brother of Flashback at SFMM, they both suffered from the same problems, each time they were taken apart and put back they got rougher and needed more frequent work done to the tracks and structure, Eurostar from what I have heard became horribly violent that first they closed off the last row, then it was upgraded to the last 3 rows
