For those of you who are unfamiliar, a block zone is a section of ride that only one train may occupy. At the end of a block zone is a method to stop the train in case the block zone ahead is still occupied. This is the safety system that prevents roller coaster trains from colliding with one another.

As long as you fit the height lrestrictions (which doesn't even matter unless you're way too short for it or taller than the maximum), and don't do anything stupid, you'll be 99.999999...% safe. An average of four people die annualy from rollercoasters, and generally it's their own fault for ignoring safety protocol. Yoou'll be fine. As for the Acrophobia (fear of heights), just pretend you're not that high up and focus on how fun they really are.

I find everyday life terrifying enough, without having to torture myself on any of these rides. I get scared sh**less just watching these videos. I would not go on one for all the money in the world. No way. I totally hate them, but good luck to those who like their thrills this way.

Anna Rice they aren’t necessary. They’re only there to decrease liability. The lapbar/shoulder harness automatically locks in the station and can never be unlocked unless you have a certain key for the train or the train pulls back into the station. Seatbelts aren’t required by safety officials because they know just how safe the restraints are alone.
Anna Rice The way the restraints work are quite ingenious. There’s a small switch on the bottom of the train that when pushed up unlocks the restraints and when pushed down locks the restraints. The switches are spring locked and when the train rolls into the station, a bar beneath the track rises to push the switch up, which unlocks the restraints. Since they are spring loaded into the down position, there is physically no way to unlock a restrain without a hydraulic bar (press) underneath the track.

8:18 the seatbelt doesnt really do much in terms of safety its mainly there for a extra safety mechanism if others fail and it mostly is there to make guests feel safe

@@stevoz748it does quite literally nothing in terms of safety lol. It’s just for riders to feel safer. The restraints literally cannot fail barring some truly absurd negligence and bad luck, and the seatbelt really doesn’t do anything.

As a coaster enthusiast, this video made me lose brain cells.
It made me throw up 2-3 times.
Especially that seatbelt one, it’s hilarious to think that people believe this is deadly. The seatbelt is there just to make sure if the hydraulic lock fails (which almost never happens) it’s still safe. Hell I’ve ridden a Vecoma Slc with my seat unbuckled and here I am!

@@jmanx360 the one near me has a buckle attached to the seats. It still has the god awful restraints from the old ones so that’s why.
@@Dr-Peppy I've only ever ridden SFA's Mind Eraser and I don't remember it having an actual seatbelt, just a belt to keep the OTSR down in case the locking mechanism failed.

Roller coasters scare the hell out of me. My best friend Ron is 75 years old and is obsessed with them. He's a member of ACE and rides them all summer long until there are no parks left open. He's an adrenaline junky who gets off on the rush. If I were to ride some of those scary rides, not only would I poop and pee my pants, but I'd also throw up. have a stroke and heart attack and probably die....scheesh!

@@caldin so the point of the seatbelt is that it holds you down in the car… i wonder what other component of the rollercoaster holds you down lmao. the seatbelt is there as a redundancy, not as an essential part of the coaster. trust me, the restraints are much more reliable than the seatbelt (a dumb rider could undo the seatbelt and make people have to stop the ride, you can’t undo the restraint at all mid ride)

You shouldn't be a afraid of dying on a roller coaster if you are not also afraid of cars (that's why I am afraid of crossing the road 🤘🏻 and driving, I'm scared I will run over someone)
