Anyone notice that kano stole shinnoks amulet. Lui kang tells him to put it back but they never show him do that. In the game shinnok uses the amulet to escape from the nether realm. If there's a sequel this is how kano will be back

good observation. The starting scene was between two trained martial arts actors while other scenes are just scenes with cgi, wire work and other dumb shit. I had a feeling they would fuck this up. I pirated the movie and still want my money back

It was also a callback to the beginning of the movie where they alluded to Cole's focus on attacking and not defending. Then he finds his arcana when he truly has something to defend. It's not original, it's not clever, but it's effective. Unfortunately they don't seem to have put as much thought into the other characters' arcana so Cole's character development seems like an accident.

The actors that played scorpion and subzero definitely werenât replaced by stunt people, they are crazy well-known martial artists. And they knocked it out of the park

The part that got me was Cole hesitating to believe Sonya's story when there was a guy literally freezing everything and tossing icicles at him and his family.
Maybe he thought Sub Zero was just a super powered vigilante looking to punish people for not wearing masks and social distancing in public.
That was about mortal kombat not that people have powers and shit
It seemed to me that the pacing of the story was so bad, that Cole almost accepted it too fast, and by the end he's rattling off the names of the enemies, and i was wondering how the hell he knew any of that
My friends and I watched and the entire film we just wished Liu Kang and Kung Lao were the focus instead of Cole

I feel that. Tbh, I thought the same thing. Honestly didnât mind Cole tho. I expected to hate the character but ended up kinda liking him by the end. Also was pleasantly surprised by the twist that heâs a descendent of scorpion. Kinda cool they gave more shine to Scorpion/Sub-Zero this time around.

When im more satisfied with the movie that came out before i was even born thats pretty bad. They even gave scorpion that pretty badass outfit in the end, why not a slightly better one for Cole too ?
I thought Cole was cheesy. I didn't know if he was a new MK character in the lastest games or what.
I also hated seeing Sub Zero get double teamed.. That isn't a fair fight at all..

Well he can just take spine shattering damage from a 10 foot yaked out giant monster and redirect the opponents energy back at them because... reasons.
I can literally think up a cooler character with better dialog, back story, powers, actual moves, and motivations paired with a way more interesting way of accessing his powers.. in like 10 minutes.
Which the whole they need to "unlock their powers" and giving their powers some weird mystical naming with no fucking explanation was the dumbest shit ever.
They don't need a reason for having powers or to fucking unlock them... they are mythical beings for the most part.
Imagine playing MK and all you get are basic kick and punches with every character until you play for a set amount of time and unlock your powers by getting your ass beat...
The game would've flopped end of story.

Got his ass beat by Kabal until he was able to win by plot convince.

He found jax and helped and took him to get patched up, he's the one who actually showed the other three where the temple was while they were lost, and it really doesn't make since to say he was loosing to kabal when the fight was interrupted meaning it could have gone either way.
It disturbs me that Kung Lao never once teleported during combat. He did it once just to appear out of nowhere and never again and now he's dead. Like wtf

He sounded just like Kabal in MK11, everything from the way he spoke to the writing of the dialogue itself.
Kabal has always been one of my personal favorites, Iâm surprised AngryJoe didnât like him lol, I thought he was on the level of Kanos role in the movie
I liked Kabalâs voice, I hate Kabal being a full-blown villain instead of a conflicted anti-hero like he was before MK11.

What got me was how Scorpion spoke Japanese in every line.. except to say "Get over here!" in perfect english for some reason..

@@andrewalvarez4975 what got me was how little this film focused on setting up MK through the sub zero scorpion clan drama. They wanted to make a movie for new fans with some stuff old fans want to see and pleased no one . It had some cool moments but few and far apart
@@andrewalvarez4975 I mean, I know that Americans in general don't bother with second languages, but plenty of Americans still learn multiple languages (Japanese being a popular choice) and it wouldn't be too surprising if Cole Young decided that due to his heritage, he would give learning Japanese a shot.

I said the same thing in my review. It's an ok movie, but man if everyone acted their characters with the same enthusiasm that Kano was acted this would have been amazing for sure!

Thatâs been a big problem with attempted franchise films lately. They get so preoccupied with setting up an ongoing series of films that they forget to make the actual film theyâre making really good and something people want to see more of.

I had it at an 8/10 it's got great fights and references and Kano made every scene he was in that much better. But it's more of a 7/10 to me.
I'm not a hard-core MK fan but I have plenty of family and friends that are so I know enough about the story to ask stuff like "Why did they waste Goro like that when they could have brought in a weaker sub-boss type character like Moloch or Motaro?" So I was pretty excited. But Cole was as interesting a character to me as Mokap
The thing is he doesn't need to consult the elder gods when they literally come to HIS realm. The Raiden from the games would've incinerated them all where they stood.

The cyberization of the lin kue, johnny learning humility, sub zero and scorpions whole dynamic, Shao Kahn and his oppression, reptile, kano, and kabal in general. Now ill admit the mk games are good dumb fun but there is potential. Though honestly I'm still fine with turning my brain off (even though I think the movie is trash)

the end of that fight annoyed the crap out of me. When they teleported in and I saw their location I was like "Ooooooo Jax gonna upper cut this fool onto the spikes." and then he just smashes his head instead. What a missed opportunity for a beloved easter egg.

Raiden in MK21: "Yeah beware, they're gonna be tryin to kill you all day until the tourney."
Easily why Chris is soooo much as Raiden than the new guy.
That and the "Ah ah" To Shang Tsung's army then the " I don't think so."
I was kind of expecting that when Raiden put the shield up he would say "I must consult the Elder Gods. Dont die while i'm gone."
And then proceeds to go eat popcorn watching his soaps while his fighters are attacked everyday until the tourney.
Thereâs a whole story arc of Raider going back in time to trick outer realm to be disqualified and punished by the Elder gods. The whole point of the tournament is to allow Goro to go to earth and destroy everyone. Hey letâs just have goro go in anyways before the tournament and instead of he kills everyone he just gets killed by a guy armed with a frying pan

Yeah also think there will be a sequel. I want a really good MK movie. Finally. Change the writers and put people in there who actually played the games and know all Finishes, friendships, fatalities, brutalities etc. 2nd movie we need more gore like the Kung Lao head scene.

Kano will be definitely back in the sequel (if it comes out). He got his right side of face first scrached by reptile, and the got stabbed in the right eye by Sonya, which obviously set ups his robotic eye. He also stole an amulet from the temple, which as someone else pointed (can't confirm, I'm not that deep into lore) is a Shinok amulet that can be used to escape hell.
Iâm gonnaâ call it, Kano is coming back in the second film. He didnât even get his terminator face in this one. Heâs gonnaâ be resurrected as the cybernetic Kano we all know him as.

Right? I felt like Kung Lao was the only-other toon that they could of had play things off as epically as the Subzero/Scorpion scenes. Just with the teasers in the training, him utilizing the hat for offense/defense and then premeditated with the saw in half move. The Same way moves are utilized after the "Get over here" scene. It's as-if they know what's good and what works, they just don't..lol.

I wish they kept Shang Tsungs charisma from mk 11, the way he talks there just glues you to the screen in that game.
How to improve Mortal Kombat (2021):
-Replace Cole Young with an other character (Kenshi, Johnny Cage) or don't have him at all
-More focus on Liu Kang and Kung Lao
-Save Mileena and Goro for the sequel
-Flesh out the Hanzo Hasashi's transformation to Scorpion

Cole asks Raiden if he can teleport anyone anywhere and Raiden is looking at Cole like, âWow. I didnât realize my own powers worked like that.â And then Raiden can teleport Shang Tsung back to Outworld, which wouldâve been great to do at the beginning of this film to keep Earthâs champions alive.
There is zero consistency to where and when the champions can use their powers.
Raiden could have just literally teleported everyone of his champions to safety the moment the killings started.
This crapfest was written by the co-writer of WW84, enough said...

When they were editing this movie together I GUARANTEE they decided to include most of Kanos dialogue over other characters simply because Kano was by far the most charismatic and entertaining character in the movie. It wasnât their intention to give Kano so much screen time but in order to make the movie palatable, he needed to be the character he is in the movie

Animated film Scorpion's Revenge is arguably the best MK adaptation so far. It's got "lore friendly" story with few interesting twists and turns, classic characters and very gory, brutal fights. Also, unlike 2021 film, it has Johnny Cage in it and his scenes were hilarious and super entertaining.
It's a shame it came out in 2020 and most people probably missed it:(

And it's not even that complicated of a plot that they need an audience surrogate. Fantastical fighting tournament. Weird monsters and fighters. Evil sorcerer. Bam, done.
Itâs the Resident Evil movies all over again. We didnât need or want Alice in RE and the same applies for Cole in MK. Both games have tons of characters and lore to explore. I hope that Cole dies or fades away, but Iâm worried they gonna take the same route as RE and make him OP just like they did with Alice.

Hey Joe, just wanted to let you know theyâre called tonfas. Theyâre used in Japanese martial arts. Theyâre basically blunt stick weapons which inspired the night sticks/batons police use. They typically donât have blades on the end of them like Coleâs do, but I think they put them there so Cole could do fatalities.
