      @DKforever24 Před rokem +21

      Its no different than how most people feel good after taking a shower or walking beside fountains at a water park. DF just doesn't have a way to simulate dwarfs taking showers, so the next best thing is walking through mist.

    • @SkillZgetKillZ
      @SkillZgetKillZ Před rokem +12

      technically, you can have them take a "bath" by making them walk through 3/7 water
      it will clear off any blood, lingering FB dust or spit, etc.
      The easiest way to do that is to make a pit/pond in a high traffic area of the fortress and partially fill it.
      the water gets very dirty quickly though, so you may need to make an automatic magma flush system to clean it, then refill it manually

    Kruggsmash is a gem. The way that he painstakingly plays through Dwarf Fortress to extract every little nugget of interest is unparalleled. I could feel his agony so much when he tried to get his mist gen working for probably the tenth time. I can totally understand wanting to move on to other things after that. The piece he did for the Ekur brought be so much joy and it was hilarious that for all that effort his military just rolled in, hamstrung it and dispatched it in such quick fashion. That bit is the kind of flavor I come here for and was so well done. I can't wait to see what else North Bridge or the next project has for us. Strike the Earth Kruggsmash!

    The gears are supporting the windmill, until you disengage them. The solution is to have them mechanisms on a platform and the windmills attached to them. Then have another mechanism/gears between the windmills and the drive train of the pumps. And then connect the on/off lever to that connecting gear assembly.
    The freezing is a weird thing which has been around since the early mists of time, if I correctly remember that. It has to do with the missing updates of what is considered inside or outside...

  • @m_d_c_t
    @m_d_c_t Před rokem +3

    One of the upcoming plans in Dwarf Fortress is after the magic update a culture update if I remember right - where civilizations no longer are simply "the elf civilization has These Cultural Touchstones Every Time" and they'll all have varied identities. Goblins that aren't always incredibly murderous, Elves that are more reasonable about trees, that kind of thing. I'm hoping that part of that is that cavern civilizations become able to be reasoned with as well.

    @Kruggsmash, I think the problem with the freezing ice in the pump system was because the back section of the pump (the one closest to the center of the fort) still had an ice floor, so when the water hit it, it just froze. That might also have been what blocked the flow of water and broke the windmills.

    Hmm I think the Northbridgites should dig down to hell to drain all the cavern water away. The frogs can deal with the demons.

    If there ever is a "Final Episode" I vote the dwarfs all charge into the caves and fight the frog people. One giant messy battle to end it all

    The build up of the giant only for him to be ended in seconds was well worth a sensible chuckle.

    I'm really sad about the cat. It survived that last fort, only to be killed in the idiotic riot.

    Always a pleasure. Everything from your artwork to your cadence to your mastery of the game system makes this series the one I look forward to moreso than any other media I'm currently consuming.
    Please watch out for burnout. I hope you're taking care of yourself.

    Great video! My only issue is that i would love to hear you check out the combat logs more often, especially to see how big enemies died!

    Not sure if this was mentioned about 21:10 when you're pumping out from the frog lake, I've been playing for years and only last week realised myself that screw pumps work through floor grates (ie you can cover the input tile), and supposedly even building destroyers cant destroy a floor grate from below. Anyway thank you so much, this was a really great series!

    Too bad for the mist generator. But maybe it's not a failure, but a trial ! time to bring some magma from the depth of the earth to heat this ice ! a magma conduit running trought the oceanfloor... let's go for some "quick" and "easy" dwarven ingenering ^^
    Thanks for your works !

    An adventure where you recover the stolen artefscts from the goblins would be pretty cool

  • @SusCalvin

    It's always a lot easier to improvise all sorts of little diplomatic and roleplaying solutions in a tabletop RPG where it's just me and a pile of papers, instead of a computer game where you'd need to make a mod. Players are just always fond of wheelin' and dealin' their way through problems.
    But a mod or update that expanded diplomatic relations would be fun, somewhere in the far future. Even if it just expanded the existing elf/human relations to others. The goblins walking up to demand tribute was a fun take too, that's one form of diplomacy.
