Nice to see Clifford finally make an appearance and not hide in the shadows, lol 🐕
That's what I have been saying.
Haha, I’d spotted it a while ago and had been looking forward to this video as well
Good call on the name.
I’ve called my 08 Ram half ton “Clifford” (the big red truck) for many years, but it’s more like the little red dachshund next to an F450. 😅
Westin Champlin already called his Clifford, maybe this one will be Big Red? Then again I got a white 97 F250 that I call Whitey Ford, so what do I know....
This isn't in any way saying that "FoRd'S aRe BaD" or anything. All I have to say is that I worked at a Ford dealership for years, and I could happily go my entire life without ever hearing that door chime again 😂😂😂 Enjoy the new truck man!
I want to put it on my 89 Chevy C1500 just to tick people off
Ford's have a door chime ??? I never hear it when I'm at work !!!
I too, HATE that DOODOODOO.
Disable it- do some googling.
I don't work at a Ford dealership but it drives me crazy too for some reason
We live in the semi desert in Western Queensland (Australia) and have 4 Toyotas. One of them is 40 years old and has over 720,000 on the clock. Rust does not happen in the semi desert, but not having anything but gravel and dirt roads for 60 miles, we specialize in wrecking tyres and suspensions! We don't have your towing requirements and have stuck with Toyotas for reliability, and because we can usually fix them. With the nearest dealers 150 miles away, sophisticated electronics can be a pain as they are for you. Different environments different requirements, but we still learn a lot from you and guys like Wes from Fulton IL. Many thanks.
Hi Matt! A piece of advice for you...get the biggest mud flaps you can find and put them on your front fenders (you already have good ones on the rear). Get the ones that are so wide they'll keep all the slop and salt from flinging up on your front fenders, doors and rocker panels. Hopefully that'll provide a bit more protection against our lovely rust belt. Also, in your copious amounts of spare time, design yourself two pressurized water spray bars that are capable of spraying the underside of the truck. It WILL pay off in the long run. Good luck!!
There aluminum so i hope it doesn't rust away
@@thatmaverickguy859 One definite factor in my choosing to get an F150 instead of Brand C or R is that aluminum body. Saves 700 lbs on the F150 and isn't gonna rust out. All those little white and blue postal mail trucks you see running around were last made in 1988 - the newest ones are now 34 years old, they are aluminum and do not rust.
@@townhall05446 and they on a S10 frame so they'll run forever
Or you can just spend 30 minutes of your time and Fluid Film the undercarriage so his truck doesn’t only last 170k miles.
@@thatmaverickguy859 aluminum turns into grey dust and Ford has a history of struggles with getting paint to stick to aluminum. I wouldn't let knobby tires fling rocks at the body whether it's aluminum or steel.
The one thing that is still steel and rots out quickly are the running boards ! You might have to wait until spring but ...
1) Drill some drain holes in the running boards
2) Rinse the inside out with a pressure washer
3) Wait for a couple of warms days to let the inside dry then spay inside with Fluid Film until it drips out
4) While you have the Fluid Film out, spray the bolts holding the shocks, the tie rod adjuster, the parking brake adjuster, caliper and bracket bolts. Drop the spare tire and spray the entire mechanism and both sides of the spare tire wheel. Do this once a year, and you will be happy when you have to deal with them !!
yes fluid film the crap outta the bottom of that truck.. inside frame rails inside everything you can get to.
And anywhere steel and aluminium touch, eg...steel sump plug/ali sump use nickel-slip or Tefgel to prevent galvanic corrosion.
This is from 20yrs of owning old Land Rovers.
An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.
Had a friend who put a grease jerk on the rockers and filled them up
@@douglasanderson1276 I would have used a zerk, but then, he may have better luck with his choice ;)
That kind of upkeep and preventative maintenance labor is offset by continued uptime not left to chance. Smart operation.
New shop, new truck... good things happening to good people!! Happy Holidays Matt & Family!!
next is a wife upgrade.
@@AA-sq1xz OUCH!!!!! That's gotta hurt,Lol

People will always remember how you made them feel. Dont get angry and get the job done better than the next guy.
Hey Matt,
just a quick tip. Dont kneel down on your seats if they have seat heating. When you do that the heatingwires tend to break. The preowner of my car did this and you have to tear down the whole seat to repair it🙈
Greetings from Germany
that’s on german cars here in the US ive never herd of that being a issue, ima mechanic and work on alot of cars lol
@@calebwiant1182 Yo, but not all german cars are crap lol
Don't know if that is an issue on a truck like this but it's an XLT with apparently the 'luxury' upgrade package so it would have the heated front seats.
@@laurier3348 agreed
@@calebwiant1182 Yeah if "anecdotally, slightly, more durable heated seat heating elements" is the only thing that us Americans could ever figure out how to do better than the Germans when it comes to automotive design... that's not much of a roast. lol. In reality, I'd venture a guess that it's actually American knees having a significantly higher amount of body fat in them that is the *real* reason you've "never heard of this in the US". lmao
I just picked up a 2022 F450 A few months back to pull my fifth wheel camper. Love the truck… The turning radius is just amazing to me. One note, it wasn’t the engineers who screwed up the modern diesel, it was the EPA lol. By the way, make sure you change your fuel filters as prescribed in the manual. I actually cut that down by half the mileage it’s not a difficult job. I like to fill my oil filter before installing it to minimize engine wear on start up.
Better choice change oil and filter before prescribed in the manual.
I think the injection system you are referring too with the oil firing the injectors is HEUI. It's used in 7.3 and 6.0, but I think the 6.7 uses more conventional fuel injection like what's found in Duramax and Cummins. Still important to use good oil. Thanks for the videos!
Scorpion design with the exhaust feeding into the V where the turbo sits. I prefer the I6, simple, less parts. The I6 has 40% less moving parts and alot better low end torque as well. But it comes down to what you prefer. Also Ford has two cooling systems. I'll bet Ford comes out with a new I6 in the future. The 300 was a workhorse. Jeep has a twin turbo I6 on the Grand $113,000 Wagoneer!!!! Congrats.
I doubt ford will ever bring the 300 back because the real reason they got rid of them was because they lasted to long I have 2 both have surpassed a million miles and are almost to 2 million and still going strong
That is correct. 7.3 and 6.0 were HEUI which were a marvel in 1994 when first introduced. Cat/International developed them. 6.4 was the only International engine that Ford used that was common rail. After lawsuits against International for warranty claims Ford developed their own engine, the 6.7 Powerstroke and released it 2011, also common rail like Isuzu and Cummins. I will say, (and I can because I have owned six of these trucks and put hundreds of thousands of miles on them) it is wise to also use a quality fuel additive as the Bosch CP4 pumps need the extra lubricity that modern fuel lacks. Rotella 5w 40 is👍🏻
@@dylanvervalin4798 You are correct Sir. !!!! Tooo bulletproof.
wait they stopped using the heui system? But it makes sense, for modern diesels the way to go is common rail, too much nonsense in the heui for little benefit amd pair that with emission and you gwt the 6.0 and 6.4 😂
Congrats on the new truck, Matt!!! Happy for your success!
Hi Matt, congrats on surging through the 500k subscribers. You put so much work into your projects, and I suspect an equal amount into sharing them with us. Good to see you spoiling yourself with new sheds, trucks and whatever else off the fruits of your labour. Don’t forget to spoil the boss at home. I am sure she also does a whole lot more than we see. Thanks as always for giving us the entertainment you do. Merry Christmas
That’s why from the get go you have to Fluid Film the undercarriage, it only takes 30 minutes to do this. Has nothing to do of keeping a truck “prestine”. This is basic maintenance if you live in the rust belt.
those aux switches in the cab are genius, and having the dedicated fuse box, really makes adding work lights or beacons easy! and the step for getting in the back is another solid feature
But does it have an aux hole for listening to your own music?
@@kirdot2011 Bluetooth is built in, so no wire needed :)
The 6.0 powerstrokes have the heui injection system that fire the injectors with high pressure oil. The 6.7s have the common rail fuel system. It uses a lift pump and a high pressure injection pump that is driven by the gear train. It pressurizes the fuel rail but the ecm fires the injectors. Anyways enjoy the new truck!!
Spot on.
Fellow 6.7 PSD owner here, coming up on 200K miles with my truck, owned since new and absolutely love the truck. I always do my fuel filter changes every 2nd oil change. I think your limiting factor on oil changes on a stock truck will be fuel dilution if I had to guess. Congratulations on the new truck, hard work pays off. Here's to many more miles!
Changing the fuel filter every other oil change is a great practice on all new diesel equipment!
Matt, Thanks for the tip and review of the Builtright Ford rear seat release. I have struggled with tilting the drivers side rear seat since getting my truck in 2017. I was quite pleased to see that I wasn't the only one to have that issue. I've ordered and installed one on my F150 and am really pleased at how easy it was to install and how well it works. It's the simple things that are sometimes most pleasing. Hope you and your family have a great new year. Thanks again!
You can swap the fuse either left of right to make the power points in the truck stay on when you shut the ignition off. It takes like 2 mins to do.. Check your owners manual it will show you how to do that.
There are still owner manuals for new cars?
I thought it would just say "visit your dealership" 🤣
Owner's manual? How about a spare tire? Not in most new vehicles... SMH
@@edpoints1127 that is because the first buyer doesn't want to pay for a tire they never use. All new cars come with road side assistance now. the next owner after say 4 years, he may want a spare tire, they can buy one. All my cars still have a wheel well for a full size tire, even if it is empty from the factory.
@@uliwehner that's the point I was trying to make.... Spare tire extra? WTF? In my opinion, when did it become OK to NOT have a spare tire? Is the cardboard under frozen pizza going to be "extra" next? Is a cord on a TV going to be extra? Is sliced bread going to be extra? These foolish ways to make money... or supposedly save money are getting ridiculous. Never use? That's a ridiculous assumption. Do you wait until you get a cut to buy a box of bandaids? Do you wait to buy a can opener for your kitchen until you found a can that's not an easy pop top? Would you pay extra for shoelaces if they stopped including them with shoes, since a lot of people don't tie their shoes? Roadside assistance only works if you #1 have reception, and a cell phone... with a charged battery. #2 if the "service" isn't overflowing with calls during something such as a snowstorm. What would an 87 year old grandmother do if she was stuck in a snowstorm with a flat, some teenagers on snowmobiles come past and can't even change the tire since there isn't a spare tire?
@@edpoints1127 the reality is that the first owner does not want to fork over money for things they won't need. like back in the day stainless steel exhaust was thought about, but regular mild steel lasts 4-5 years anywhere, so original owner never needs to replace it. no incentive to pay an extra 50 or 100 bucks for stainless exhaust for the next owner. Same thing with spare tires. likelihood of you needing it during the first 4 years is super low, and you have free roadside assistance. no reason to buy a tire for the next owner. car bodies had a rust through warranty just long enough where the original owner never saw rust. No reason to pay more so the second owner does not see rust either. you could think of many more examples for this. most cars are sold before they are 4 years old.
Matt, there’s a free software you can use with a $20 USB to OBD adapter to be able to program a TON of stuff on these Fords. One being, the timeout for your power ports. You can set them to be powered always, or a delay of a certain time.
You can also turn on “bambi mode” which allows fogs, high beam, and low beam to be on at the same time, as well as disable all the chimes and dings and doo doo doo’s. 18:12
It’s called Forscan, there’s a lot of info on the forums about it, happy to drop a link if you’re interested! Congrats on the new truck!
If you look in your fuse box; look up your cig lighter fuse, and it will typically have 3 slots for the fuse --- Putting the fuse on one side will give you battery power all the time, or if you move the fuse over to the other slot -- it will give you the key-only power.. I've seen some vehicles have the ability to change it with a good scantool; You can also turn off your seat belt buzzer and the auto locking doors when you put it in gear, and even the auto-window roll down at the drivers window. (and I'm sure there are even more options on this thing -- it looks loaded). It would do you a lot of good to spend $600 to $1000 on a really good scantool. Thinktool, autel, xtool, launch, topdon, etc... There are a lot of good options out there now, and it's worth having one- trust me.
@@calholli With the Ford’s, it’s literally a $20 tool and free software. I’ve done it on my truck and 3 others. Everything you mentioned, auto windows, seatbelt chime, headlight function, power port function, auto mirror fold, all of it.
I can vouch for the forscan tool , I turned off the Auto Stop/Start.(feature) wear out my starter maybe??
No need to push the button. Also the HONK-HONK when you jump out to grab your sack or tools and leave it running.
😁
@@therealryan55 That's cool. Do you know how far back it goes? or what It's called? I'm just curious.. I have a 2002 F350 7.3L 6spd manual 4x4; It's essentially his exactly same blue truck, only mine has the 7.3L; not that it matters to me, since mine is all completely manual. Manual transmission, manual transfer case, manual locking hubs, manual seats, manual mirrors, manual door locks, manual windows, and it doesn't even have tilt wheel or cruise control. lol.. It might as well be a tractor, but it has 340k miles now and is still a great truck.. But I've learned a lot about scantools lately, so I'm always open to learn more.
@@calholli I think functionality was pretty limited before the 2010’s
I have a 2016 F350 cc drw with the 6.7 Diesel. Take the wife, take the house, take the dog, but don't even think about taking my truck. It is BLACK. I pull a 37' 5th wheel RV with it. I have to look occasionally to see if it's still behind me. On hills, it's left lane only, all vehicles get out of the way 'cause I'm coming. My back seat, driver's side, came with folding rear seat (both sides). I also have and love the hiding step. It is a show stopper when others around see it in operation. Something so simple, so useful.
Take care of the vehicle. I had a Chevrolet C10 in 74 and switched to Ford in 77. I've had nothing but Fords ever since. Little to no problems.
Good Luck with her. I like the color.
PS. Born and raised in J-town, PA
Nice truck Matt, congratulations and well deserved for a hardworking man like yourself..take care ,stay safe and very Merry Christmas to you and your family and a very happy new year!
Great video Matt you are correct the 6.7 powerstroke and the other modern trucks use common rail injection, but when you were explaining how it works, you confused it for the HEUI (hydraulic electronic unit injectors) system found in the 6.0l and 7.3l powerstrokes. Common rail uses a high-pressure fuel pump to create constant pressure in the fuel rails, and the injectors are controlled electronically. Similar to modern direct injection gasoline engines but the diesels operate at a much higher pressure. Keep up the good work, really liking the videos recently excited to you fully moved into the new shop.
Yup. Cat was the HEUI people, Navistar used it.....maybe that's why they aren't making on road stuff any more? Cummins used something similar with the STC engine, 88NT 365 + hp and N14P. Oil was used in the top half of the injector to advance injection timing at no/low load and at around 50 ish lbs of rail pressure, the oil was shut off and the engine went into nominal timing. Kind of a PITA but being in Ca. We had MVT so STC was easy!
I had to listen to it 3 times and he did say oil…WHAAAT! I had to check the comments to see who would correct him😆
correct, commented the same before reading yours lol
Matt love the videos keep them coming. I am a Ford Senior Master tech and work on those vehicles all day long. Stick with the IOLM for your oil changes since there really is not a true sercive interval unless you idle it constantly then you go by engine hours. For the most part the average is around 7.5-10k miles for oil change. Ford reintroduced the upper oil pan gasket in 2020 so you should not have to worry about upper oil pan leak. 14-19 year model is when they tried using silicone and they leaked bad. If you want you can send me the vin and i can run OASIS for you and give you the complete warranty repair history and let you know of any open recalls or extended coverages. If there is anything you need to know from WSM or wiring let me know and i will send you the information. The only weak link is the CDF drum in the trans. The bushing is known to slip and cause shift concerns and Ford has come out with an upgrded CDF drum with a stop machined in to keep the bushing from slipping.
Phew, i'm glad your not a junior master tech, i mean, well, ya know...

Just wondering how you feel about the possibility of the next truck being a electric vehicle?
@@kindlyrewinded7669 There are DPF cleaning services but i do not think they are Ford approved. I know a few customers that had it done and one we did have to replace the DPF due to the SCR was toast. The backordered parts is just insane.

Love the new truck Matt, you deserve it! I hope it serves you well for a long time.
I really like the way old blue whistles though, there's just something to that.
Hey Matt! Something to look into. Your drivers door handle has the exposed lock cylinder when you pull the handle. It's a common way to break into them. (Happened to Matt from DemoRanch) You can have the handle swapped for a passenger side handle with no lock cylinder.
Yep been an issue for a long time. My dad had a 2004 that was broken into that way. Pushed the cylinder in and was in the truck right away, it didnt even sound the alarm.

We went from a 2015 350 drw to a 2020 450 and absolutely love it. The better turn radius, 10 speed trans, more torque it’s just all around better. The only thing I miss is our flatbed. I want one of the hauler service beds like Brian Brown of @Brian’s farming videos has. I got the xl with stx package it has the bigger monitor and cameras but no heated seats.
here's a suggestion... don't live where people steal cars 🤷🏻♂️ i know i know , crazy talk
All that's going to do is make the thief smash the window out with a chunk of spark plug.

Hey Matt my grandpa used to work at a Ford assembly line and he told the reason Ford has an oval emblem is because they keep cutting corners.
Matt, in the up fitter fuse box remove the 5amp fuse and slide the plastic holder over and re install and 2 of your switches will be powered key off. then install some sort of power port for charging your GoPro batteries
I received an email to DM you on Telegram? Just checking if this is legit
@@topherhaertel4705 It is not legit. it is scammers.
About the power outlets cutting off after a minute, check the fuse box. My vehicles have 3 prongs for the 12V fuses, so putting the fuse in the top 2 holes means the outlets shut off, and putting the fuse in the bottom 2 holes makes them stay on all the time. I doubt Ford has this feature but it’s worth a look.
Congrats on the new truck. I’ve been running Rotella T6 5W40 in my Ford 6.7 since it was new. Very good oil. You know you don’t have to get under the truck to change the oil. Just turn the wheel all the way to the left and you can easily get to the drain plug and oil filter from behind the right front tire. Been changing my oil like that for years.
I’m on my second truck with the 6.7, I first had a 250 but I kept exceeding the tow capacity so in 2015 I bought a 350 dual rear wheel and it’s a good truck. I found out afterwards that the 450 has a better turn radius. My 1998 IH 4700 has a better turning radius than my 350. You went with the best truck out there. Be safe and keep up the good work.
'Bout time you formaly introduced us to the gem thats been lurking in the shadows of your last few videos! 😁
Nice truck! We’ve got a 150 with the 4 doors and we removed completely the two rear seats. You get a ton of useable space when you do. Tuck them away somewhere for when the family eventually expands. Storage game changer
I remember the old ad "don't you buy no ugly truck" I'm pretty sure she was talking about ford. To each his own. Outside of that, I love your content.
Love your new truck! Awesome to see what perseverance can bring you!
Glad to see the new pickup. One thing though... Using seat covers with heated seats can cause problems, from less heat to fires. My Chevy has them and the manual warns against seat covers due to the possibility of fire. You might want to look at that. Merry Christmas to you and yours! :)
Nothing like Hot Smokey Buns while driving!
Chevys are built so poorly that they are prone to fires even if the seats are removed.

Looks a very nice thing, that does! Regarding your charging sockets, I’d suggest perhaps buying a smallish portable power station, most have AC, 12V DC and multiple USB sockets, you’d be able to charge camera batteries, phones, run lighting etc from that while the truck is off and then recharge the power station from the truck’s AC outlet when you’re driving.

Glad you picked it up second hand, it's got a good home now.
I absolutely LOVED my 6.0! I upgraded to an ‘11 F-350 dialysis to make towing my 38’ 5th wheel camping trailer a little more comfortable. The 6.0 did fine, but was at the upper end of it’s capacity and I didn’t want to kill it. I subsequently sold the camper and would love to have the 6.0 back…..hopefully soon!

Love the new truck Matt! Congratulations on your success to be able to get one. I don't think I've ever seen a f450 pickup before. Always been up to a 350 that I've seen. Look forward to seeing it in action. Those new trucks are so quiet inside. It's a world of difference. Good job Matt!
Seat cover install segment was nicely crafted. Great Semi-Supervillain tune and motion editing. Thanks.
Biggest tips I can give you to make that 6.7 last is stay on top of your fuel filters and keep some kind of fuel additive in it I prefer Lucas or total power as a diesel mechanic I’ve seen a ton of 6.7 fuel systems fail due to our new diesel fuels having little to no lubrication earliest failure I’ve seen was 17,600 miles on a 2022 F550
They have a kit with a Stanadyne DCR high pressure pump now to replace the junk CP4. There's no way to make a CP4 last that I have found. My mom has a VW TDI that had one. Caught it right before it was going to send metal through the fuel system and destroy the injectors. Replaced with a CP3 conversion kit. That would be my recommendation, do the DCR pump conversion before the CP4 grenades the entire fuel system.
As someone who is now starting to geek out on trucks and mechanical stuff in automobiles, it looks like yall are speaking a whole nother language 😂😂
Friend of mine drove a '21 F-550 for about 8 months hot shotting. XL with manual 4x4 linkage
Love to see how your gonna set up your garage. Looking forward to see how your going to put in a lift with the heated floors. Hopefully, you left an open spot for the base
Good for you Matt! I'm glad to see you thriving!
when changing the oil you can put diesel where the oil is supposed to go let run for a minute or two drain and all the old oil is gone.
Lovely looking truck can’t wait to see it putting in some work. Thanks for sharing this with us take care
I really enjoy your videos . I always enjoy watching u fix whatever u get your hands on. Can’t wait to see more of what u can do.
Congrats! You deserve that truck! As a former owner of 2 2005 6.0L, I know exactly where you are coming from. I now own a 2011 XL F350, crew cab, long bed - no options (no power locks or windows, manual transfer case shifter), I love it! and the power of the 6.7L is unbelievable (and the tow capacity)... I hope you get many years of good service out of it!
if that was a 6.2 gas id drive the hell outta it
Have had a 2020 F-250 since June of that year, with the 6.7 in it as well. It really is a towing beast. Congrats on the 450. Mine is Rapid Red as well, great color.
Same here i have a 08 dually and it been a great truck no major upgrade just delete and tune and it runs like a beast
Congrats Matt! Glad to see a fella moving up with new equipment, enjoy your holiday!
I have a 2015 Ram with the gray interior, and I put the Carhartt covers on the front seats the week I bought it, about 2 years ago and they are holding up amazingly. I've washed them once haha, they match the seat color perfect and people don't realize they're even covers. They think that's just the normal seats. Awesome truck and everything else you have going on. I just recently started my channel and we will see where it goes!
Just leave it as it is, keep both trucks and you will have the both of both worlds
Common rail do not need Oil pressure to fire the Injector. They are fired electronicly thru the ECU. Cheers from Germany
I'd keep the old truck around for a beater. She still runs. Never know when you might need it. If the frame is solid just send it
I have had the same seat covers in my Ford since 2016 and they still look great. I do appreciate the hint with the release lever for the rear seat. I just ordered me a few of them. ( I have 6 Ford trucks '16-22 models and 150,250,350)
I’m the PROUD owner of a 6.0 and I agree 100% from a Diesel Mechanics point of view the 6.0 isn’t bad if you use your coconut. I’ve got 300k and she still running strong!
That is a sweet truck you have picked up my guy. Im sure you will get lots of Years out of it. Merry Christmas to you and your family. I'm excited to see what you have in store for us in 2023!!!
Good for you Mat I am glad things are going well for you. God Bless and Merry Christmas!
Got mine last fall and absolutely love it!
Great choice. Taylor Ray went up to a newer model for the same reasons, much more power and comfort, completely stock. His old Cummins swapped F-350 was good, but even tuned and modded only had 70% the power(and was older with fewer creature comforts). He travels a lot pulling a 5th wheel.)
thats a sweet truck. i also run an 03 6.0. once i fixed all the things ford did wrong it turned into a great truck. you mentioned undercoating your new truck. personaly i would stay away from it. in my experience undercoating always causes more rust problems then it solves. go with the fluid film coating every fall and youll keep the rust off longer. make sure to get in all the doors and crevices. always enjoy your content. keep the old iron running.
I have a set of those covers on my truck. Though I'm not out workin in it every day I'm a big guy with 2 big dogs and other than a little bit of fading, 2 1/2 years later they still look fantastic. Also the added bonus of being waterproof is awesome. They're expensive but worth the money.
Thanks Matt for the new Clip of a Very Impressive F450! Congrats!!!!!
Amen on the heated seats...I feel the same
Happy Christmas Mat and a very prosperous new year to you. Thanks for all the past video's and I'm sure everybody who follows you is looking forward to many more in the coming year.
Nice to see another 'Don Lawrence' on Matt's page here ! Merry Christmas to both Matt and You........ Great minds think alike 😂
Beautiful truck, Matt! I’ve got an ‘11 F450 with the 6.7 and it is a brute. Will tow anything you ever ask of it. If you’re still kicking around about a flatbed, look into a skirted flatbed. Tons of lower storage. I’m pretty sure there is a place in PA that not only installs them, but can also color match
Appreciate the video and love the truck. Keep us updated on the covers. I couldn’t quite pull the trigger on those as yet. I live in western pa and always fighting the rust. I do get it done every year as I plow and out in the salt all the time .
I agree I have 2004 6.0 with 356,000 runs and drive amazing, have done basic maintenance, batteries injectors ficm upper and lower ball joints tires. Very reliable
Matt if you get a service bed. Use one the the boxes to put in about 4 high cranking amp batteries and some welding posts that you can plug in some major jumper cables for starting stuff. You can then wire in a hard wire plug so that you can charge batteries and stuff. You can also add a solar panel to your roof and a PWM charge controller to add extra power in while your rig is parked or when you are charging other things. The main power can come from your alternator. Someone I know had this installed in their service bed. The amount of extra power and lenght of those cables made for jumping damn near anything super easy.
Congrats on the new rig. Looks great. I did see it in a few videos figured you might have gotten a new one, nice to know for sure now!
Big fan of the XLT trim, its just enough features without being obnoxious like the King Ranch or Platinum pavement princesses.
Went from an 02 7.3 to a 14 6.7 king ranch(bought it for my concrete business)and still smile every morning getting into it
Great feeling hopping into a beautiful truck after working your balls off and it’s a good look pulling up to customers houses in a nice truck compared to a loud, older beater truck
Keeping the 7.3 for a plow truck and gunna keep the king ranch nice for a few more years till she gets thrown into the plow truck rotation
I have the rat pak tool box also and found that if I put a 4x8 sheet of treated plywood down and screw the box to it , it works pretty well to keep the box still .
Plus’s you can remove the plywood and all to take the box in and out .
Keeps the need kinda nice too
Hey Matt, always drive safe! Take care! I like that new truck. Cherished the old blue sound, but, well, more silence is worth gold.
Those trucks do have a common rail fuel system, however the system you described is a HEUI system that the 7.3 and 6.0 trucks used. On a common rail the fuel is brought to high pressure via a pump and all injectors have a supply of high pressure fuel at all times. Injectors are then fired electronically when the ECM commands them. On a HEUI the fuel is brought to high pressure in the injector itself. The systems are kind of similar but no high pressure oil is used in a modern common rail system.
Woohoo Bud! Congratulations! It doesn't matter if your new vehicle is new or new to you ... the excitement is the same. I just traded my 15 Jeep for a 22 Bronco and loving it like a kid left alone in a candy store. Keep up the great content and I will keep up viewing!
Bronco independent front makes daily driving it so much better
Easy to do high mileage oil changes when you have far fewer cold starts and run long distances without stopping.
As many 6.0 in a junk yard with bad motors and what not I bet you could find one out west that you can rob a frame from or swap you motor and trans into and keep it around as a winter truck to keep the f450 from rotting out. Just get a 5 gallon pale of fluid film and the sprayer and undercoat every fall and you won’t have as bad of a rust problem.
Thanks, Matt, for informing us about the pickup situation.
As well as for providing entertaining content all year round. I also learned a lot since I started studying to become a Diesel mechanic. So, a lot of the stuff I see on your channel helped in my first semester this year.
I'm not sure if we will see another video before Christmas.
So, Merry Christmas from me, from halfway across the world (🇿🇦). Very soon I'm leaving on holiday and there is no Internet there.... So, I thought I would send this message in advance.
That's a nice ride and I have no doubt it's going to be a great upgrade. Does it have airbags in the seats? If so, be sure your seat covers have matching blow-out panels or they will interfere, possibly blocking entirely, with their deployment in an accident.
Congrats on your new truck!
congratulations on a great car, and a great workshop. I am happy for you and your progress.
keep up the good work!
Merry Christmas.
Congratulations on the new truck too! I work on these things and would love to get one. Also I think you can still get the manual 4wd if you get a chassis cab option.
Hey Matt! Dont forget both fuel filters need to be changed at nearly the same interval as the oil! Save yourself some headache and get actual motorcraft ones, the aftermarket filters have not impressed me as far as a quality matchup. That said it should be a solid reliable truck with good maintaince. love it!
Man you are really getting it going on, Congrats on the new truck an everything else, please keep making awesome videos this kinda shit kicks ass Matt.Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄....
Do yourself a favor, Matt. Replace your oil pan drain plug with a Fumoto oil drain valve. You can change your oil without a wrench and taking oil samples is a breeze. They are a little on the pricey side, but very well made. My family all runs with them with no problems. Not a sponsor...
I’d keep the blue one for a shop truck service truck and keep the red one stock. Plus your red truck has blind spot monitoring so you will have to keep those tail lights
That truck is amazing and out of everyone you definitely deserve it. Your an amazing guy and you have one of the best channels on CZcams
Thank you!
My family has kept an 03 F250 with the 6.0 for years (245K miles) and no major work has been done. I daily drive it for years until I got tired of paying for diesel. Loved it and feel like I would love the newer ones too.
4:13 before rust gets to the new one, yes they’re aluminum but it will still oxidize fluid film, wool wax, pb surface shield, Amsoil heavy duty metal protectant. They all work to seal out moisture, get it on that new truck once a year and it will actually run until it dies instead of run until it rots.
I got one and I love it. I'm gonna get that thing you got to access behind the left rear seat
