If you take that hacksaw that you never use out of the tool box you will need it tomorrow....if not later the same day.
Amen brother! I was about to make the same comment!
I guess Im randomly asking but does someone know a way to get back into an instagram account??
I somehow forgot the login password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me.
@Dakari Easton Instablaster ;)
@Alden Leo i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Alden Leo it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much, you really help me out :D
That 'mess' is nothing. Andrew Camarata could teach you about messy!
Yes, I’m a big fan of his, but I don’t know how he works out of that toolbox, his shop however is very clean
@@DieselCreek ..yeah, his shop is ace. I was just referring to his vehicles, lol
@@eltsennestle998 i laughed when Andrew got the chainsaw out to cut the dash to install a stereo
I found that the barrier coating for boats makes the BEST primer for metal. If you take your time and get several coats on it, it will stop rust in it's tracks. It seals incredibly well. When you sandblast your bed spray that barrier coat first then prime it and paint it and it will hold up until your tired of the truck. Best of luck to you.
BF Goodrich KO2 All Terrains. Awesome tyre.
10 ply sidewalls, awesome tread, used on off-road vehicles.
NITO G2 GRAPPLER. DODGE 5.9 CUMMINS. ALISON TRANS. 07. OR EAIRLER
I have to admit, watching Andrew Camarata is what brought me to you and you're very similar but also very different at the same time. I'm starting to binge watch haha. Love the videos, I have a 2002 7.3 powerstroke and after a ton of gas trucks I want to keep this one forever.
Glad to have you! I love Andrews content as well! I’m gonna try to keep this one till the body is too far gone to fix
Diesel Creek get a Ford without a motor drop a 5.9 Cummins in it! Watch Weston Chapman channel he just swapped a Cummins into a new body style f350 single rear wheel
I did some 4WDing in the past -the tools and mechanicals are great, but you're missing fire extinguisher, first aid kit, maybe more spare clothing/blankets, some emergency food.
Your ole truck seems to be alright but now I tell ya you’re speaking some good language with that Cummins
You might want to contact the guy with the "western truck and tractor repair" channel. He's a no bs good guy who runs work beds on all his trucks + can give you good honest insight on what pickup trucks he see's less trouble with.
Something you don't have: a Burke Bar / Buggy Axle. Find an old horse drawn buggy (hard to find, but they exist) get one of the steel axles. Cut one of the 2 spindles off, flatten and make a wedge on the cut off end and put a bend in it. Use the spindle end as a handle and as a spud to line up stubborn holes. The buggy axle is better than a Burke Bar but, requires some manufacturing. You can customize it a little more. I used a torch to cut the spindle and flatten / sharpen the end. My buggy axle was stolen some years ago, and I can't find another one.
Yokohama geolander AT/S E load tires are the best I've ever owned for my dodge. Smooth ride, perfect in snow, mud, sand, etc. At least a 40k mile warranty to my recollection.
Matt, as far as trucks go I believe you’re on the right track with a Dodge. I used to have a 1999 Ram 3500 with the 5.9 liter 24 valve Cummins which was a really great workhorse just stock with a 5 speed transmission. I pulled a 9 ton excavator several times through the mountains in North Georgia with problems at all. I will say that those older Dodges had smaller brakes, so if you do a lot of heavy towing you will really go through the brakes.
I like the fact that you carry enough tools and parts to try and be prepared for most anything and that is something seldom seen today. If you remove items from your toolbox just make sure sure very selective. Keep up the good work it’s a real enjoyment to watch your videos.
I used Goodyear Wrangler Trailrunner AT tires on my truck. Great for on or off-road driving. I lived a mile or so off pavement and they did great on gravel. Nice truck looks really good with the flat bed.
Great Truck. If it works for you Keep it. I was taught to keep my vehicles for as long as I can. Thanks for the video. Also great set up and selection of tools.
For tires I run either Cooper discovery AT3 or Firestone Transforce at had good luck with both. Service body look for one that has the long clam shell lid on the top, great for longer stuff my last one was a Royal steel body which I loved really well built.
Watching your video makes me realize how much I miss my 2002 6 speed Ram 3500 with a flat bed. That was a truly awesome truck. It was starting to nickel and dime me though, 350k miles and the flat bed was starting to rot pretty good. Now im in an 18' f150 I miss a 1 ton but having a small truck again is kinda nice. And the aluminum body has held up well. Love the channel. Long time creeper lol
battery grease gun, a great tool for my sawmill, good video,
Ah, nice to see an IH tag on the front, same as on my pickup... 😁👍
I've got the same 6.0 in my 2004 E450 Chinook RV; had it upgraded at Bulletproof Diesel in Mesa AZ and it runs like a top. Liked the palms in your console.
I bought 4 of those Nebo flashlights from my Matco guy. 2 for me and 2 for my relatives. I love em!
I apologize for taking over your comments. Lol I love this stuff man. Keep it coming brother.
Your truck looks a lot better then my companies 02 7.3. The cab is rotting from the bottom up but it still runs great all day long. We got like two 6.0s both are 05. After fixing the common 6 blow issues they’ve been great 230k no major issues. Love the lariat seats
I'm late to the comments but always had good luck with Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT tires. Last a long time and well built.
Matt, OTW (One Take Wednesday) Rocks. Keep it up mate. Please.
Hello from Perth, Western Australia.
That's definitely a good truck right there. They way you have it set up is very similar to my uncles. He drives an old Dodge Cummins 3500 mega cab with basically the flatbed on it. I think he's got almost 500,000 miles on that thing too!
I've got an '04 F350 CCLB, SRW, with a 6.0 - rolling 340k on the odometer.
Maintenance! No leaks, coolant or oil, anywhere; a straight pipe and a blue spring.
Runs like a top!😀
Thanks for sharing Matt, looks like you run a solid working mans rig.
I know you typically go into older things but I would go a 2019 Ram 3500 with it's cummings. That beast is where dodge started getting 1000 Foot lbs of Torque, plus it's where Ram Stepped up it's game really well. Those trucks are really solid.
Your knowledge and drive is astonishing. I wish I had your attitude when things go upside down. You take catastrophes better than anyone I know. My attitude unfortunately goes south to quickly. But watching you I’m trying to change that.
The way I do things is look at is what you need to have, tools, oils and the like, sit down one night and design one on paper to hold those items in their respective place, you should be able to come up with a design to suit your needs, for me its just a small tool box fixed to one side of the tray to keep everything dry and not rattling around, but i don't need to carry a workshop with me plus their's the theft issue, if not required the extra weight wears out the vehicle plus uses more fuel for nothing.
Hi Matt, I have enjoyed your videos through 2020, mostly the engine builds, you make it sound easy, great gives, look forward to 2021, keep the videos coming.
wicked nice, thanks for sharing
Do what makes you happy Matt ! Them new trucks are EXPENSIVE!!!
I really like my hankook dynapro atm’s. I also run 20x12s on a 4 inch lifted F250. I took it out in the snow and they did great. Enough grip to maintain control and also let you have some fun if you so desire.
Love the truck wish i had a good truck of my own im stuck in a small base model sedan right now.
Hi Matt. Love the Palm Sunday Palm Cross in your pull out ash tray!! God Bless!! Admirer from Florida.
Amazingly that’s been surviving in the truck for years!
I HIGHLY recommend getting an engine drive air compressor. The wheelbarrow style units will run a 1/2" impact without issue.
Yes I’d like to pick one up eventually I actually have enough stuff laying around to build one just not the time lol that impact I carry in the truck is actually a good bit more powerful than my air powered 1/2 but the compressor would still be really nice for some other sruff
Great opening!
Excellent video Matt
BF Goodrich all terrains are good tires. Smooth on the road but still decent grip if your at the farm or whatever. They hold up pretty good dads got a set on his Duramax and I’ve got a set of Hercules Terra Tracs on my dually and they’re a good all around tire too. Some people swear by duratracs but I find they’re a softer rubber and might wear faster on a one ton that’s loaded down all the time
when you start looking at service boxes make sure to get a t handle latch. the regular pull handle ones you'll end up kicking shut and have it still pop open down the road. ask me how i know.
I run a knepheide service body on my old 94 f350 and it works pretty good I like it. I've heard from several heavy equipment mechanics that dominater beds are the best idk though. As far as tires go I run cooper stt pros on everything have never let me down and ride great on the road went through three foot of snow in my old f150. They might be. Little aggressive for your truck though maybe
A place for everything and everything in its place. I wish I had a truck like that. I have an old 96 Dodge. It gets to the point where you have to spend so much money keeping an old one running that you'd be better off with the newer one.
An easy solution to the sweating undercarriage storage box problem would be to use one of those chemical silicone bead dehumidifiers. If you save one of those large "do not eat" bags from a large package or buy one of those buckets and put it in the storage box, it will absorb all the moisture from the inside.
I like the Goodyear Duratrac. Some folks say the sidewalls are weak but I've never had any problems. I'm living in Fort Mcmurray Alberta and the mud up here is greasy, this is the oil sands country, but I take my 8000 lbs Cummins to places that I probity shouldn't. I pulled up to a campfire on a sandbar in a river bottom where a couple of men had come in on 4-wheelers and one of them walked over and ask "how did you get that thing in here?" They are well mannered on the hwy, pretty good in snow up to knee deep, but lack on black ice. You can get them studded.
On the ‘16 ram Cummins just tried the new Continental TerrainContact A/T last fall and so far they are impressing me specially for the price!!
I would get a 6.7 power stroke with one of the services body’s that has lower sides so you can haul a gooseneck. As for tires the ones I like are either good year wranglers or toyo open country at2’s.
Dodge. Gm guy all my life but Dodge one me over a year ago after a lot of research I bit and have not regretted it....the 8 speed automatic is a real winner and unofficially endorsed by my local Amco Transmission shop...it's the only truck trans I can run in Cruze control pulling a 12,000 lbs 32ft RV and it works in hill country...Mtns paddle shift is great....
That “nylon string”, when I used to work in underground conduit installation we would
Call that “Mule Tape.” Super strong rope, we used it to tie and attach dozens of things and I’ve rarely seen it break.
i have a 02 f550 with the 7.3 and love it i have the utlity box with dump box in one and love it lots off room for tools i dont no what size tires you need but my tire shop has 19.5 tires for my truck for less then 200 a pice thay got good tread patern i get about 80,000 out off them and i dont think im too far away from you im just over the border in up state new york
Almost bought an 05 4x4 F550 with Cummins/Allison a few weeks ago with a service body with short sides that necked down in the rear for a gooseneck, just wished it would have had more miles or been about $8k cheaper. Couldnt justify the money seeing it would sit more than it would be used and my ‘01 F250 has performed flawless although slow lol. Good luck on your search.
Any 10 ply Cooper tire would be my choice. Used them on all of our roofing trucks (pick ups, 2 tons, 3500 gal tar tanks trucks and even all 3 truck cranes. Tough as hell, high mileage, smooth and not too pricey. I run Coopers on all my daily drivers too !
We’ve got 2 plain Jane, 2005 F-350 single wheels, 6 speed, 6.0’s. One has 254k miles and the other has 302k miles and we’ve never had any engine problems (alternators, power steering pumps). I think the 6.0’s are one of the best sounding diesels.
I’ve had several different service beds my favorite was reading by far. Better quality, better built.
That’s what I’d like to get
Utility is the best. God bless
I run falken wildpeak at3w and they’ve been great tires on all my trucks. Pretty cheap too and lasts a long time
Your truck is fine, only thing I had was my cigars, lock box gun and a good bottle of whiskey it being a company truck I used it but did take great care of it. at times we would put in a lot of hours ,but I enjoyed what I did it was good with owners that were great to work for.
A service body in general is a good idea. When you repair rust and you need it to last, get and use cavity wax. Verhcor did a nice video on that using only consumer cavity wax products, nice of him, since he uses the pro products on his rebuilds. The rockers, door bottoms etc you use it on DO NOT rust!
I’ll have to look into that. I usually spray it with oil inside and out
My vote on tires is mastercraft. Either cxt or axt. You can get both load range e and they wear very well. And for the price you can’t beat them.
with where i work i have used several pickups from the Dodge to the Ram from the 6.9 IDI to the 7.3 Stroke 6.0,6.4, 6.7. i personally owned a 6.0 unlike some mine was built on a Friday. i was bullet proofed 3 times (2 times before i purchased it) and loved it except it spent more time in the shop than being used. have several farmer friends that have and had them and theirs and they are and were good. 2 actually never got restuded. at the moment i have a 2019 6.7 and i absolutely love it. I'm not a Ford fan, never was one but i really really love the new on i got. now i wonder how the body will hold up on it to the rust seeing its aluminum
thanks for sharing the video, in this video you talk about wearing contacts in your eyes. I do the same line of work as you do. 10 years ago I threw away all my glasses and got Lasik surgery. seems like there was always sawdust and dirt on my glasses preventing me to see correctly. so I got Lasik surgery absolutely the best thing I ever did for myself. besides divorcing my first wife something you should consider
Great work truck, you have everything get job done👍not sure what brand your next truck but I would still prefer flat bed with big toolbox. I have Nissan D40 with flatbed, we don’t have salty rust issues. My toolbox has compartments one for chainsaw, plumbing, chemical/oils, PPE, machinery parts. I do have tie down straps, but law has change so now have cargo net. Also carry first aid kit n fire extinguisher, blanket.
From the cheap seats, as follows:
1/ What's your needs (now) and future?
2/ Are you a brand guy or will you take a competitors similar product
3/ Whats got the best reputation / reliability / Maintenance schedule?
4/ Whats your budget?
5/ What's your "significant other" tell you your budget is?
I can tell y'all (from 2 divorces- I'm ex Army what can I say) walking in the door sayin "Honey, look what I just brought"...... doesn't end well I can tell ya
this generation of f series is easily my favorite. only thing that would make this truck cooler would be making it a dualie (i have no clue how difficult it is to do that )
you should try the Cooper ST Maxx tire. ive used them on all of my trucks for the last 5yrs and cant say enough good things about them.
Matt. Your truck reminds me of mind, well the one i use to have, i had one the same body stile, it was a Burgundy / black paint . 2001 F250 4x4 7.3 diesel. tool box in back loaded , i love that truck. i had her cent's new for 16 + years, trade her off , i wish i never had done that. if i cloud get her back , i would fix her up and never get read of her again. i had no rust. we live in Florida so not must , but if you live buy the beach, the salt there will kill your truck. i love your truck it looks great and sounds Great, love that whistle off that turbo. mind did that, but i don't think it was that loud or long lasting like your's. keep her as long as you can, i would not get rid of her, i would put her out at the farm or sale her to me. lol . take care . stay warm.
Fluid film is a great product for the frame protection, but another product that ive personally found to be great for rust/ rot prevention on already rusty spots, is WD-40 Gel lube, and it is cheaper than fluid film.
I feel your "too much stuff in the truck" pain brother.
Loved the vedio ❤️
I enjoy watching your videos I hear Cummins is one of the best
my favorite tires have been Kelly safari tsr and currently running cooper discoverer st maxx. they seem to be wearing nicely on my 2500 so far.
Thanks I’ll check them out
I know someone who has a pick up truck that looks like a normal pick up truck but the back, the bed, dumps! I have never seen that before on a normal pick up truck!
Pretty clean for a work truck.
A perfectly clean work truck is a sign of no work being done.
That 6.0 is far more reliable than any new diesel. Run her for as long as possible.
841k9 yeah that’s a negative, 6.0 junk. 6.4 junk. At least 6.0 can some what be saved when you bulletproof them. 6.7 is the cat’s meow.....
Love the Farmall IHC license plate
I had a truck about like that but it was just rear wheel drive but got around ok for me my 6.0 super duty I bought new and just sold it last winter for 6k I had about 270k miles on it with very minimal trouble with it. The usual high pressure oil pump and injector seals but all that was done under warranty just a housing on the front of the engine sprung a leak and was cracked I had to pay for that but over all it was an excellent truck. all kinds of power!! by the way I ran General highway tires on mine and got about 70k miles out of them.
Looks like you’re truck is stocked up pretty good you might want to add a berk bar very useful tool I think Home Depot still sells them. You won’t go wrong with the Cummins I have a1991 that is my every day driver. And we just ordered 3 new ones at work dodges smaller cab is the quad cab. Lancaster truck body’s probably makes the best work body’s around here.
I haven’t looked at them! I’ll check em out
I'd do a pressure test on the cooling system. Might just be a pinhole in a hose, etc.
I see your steel toolbox on the truck bed is made in Adrian located 10 miles from me here in Michigan. Small world. Nice set up and well organized.
IDK if you have children but there is a book series called Hank the Cow dog. And his buddy is Rosco. Funny funny books, even for adults
Matt, this is the first good look I’ve gotten of you. You look like a baby! You’ve got a baby face a little cutie pie! You look too young to be so knowledgeable. Of course I’m an old grandmother and would never be able to do everything that you do!
6.0s ain't shit compared to them 6.4s lol, I love mine shes been good to me maintenance is key!
My husband has stack of stuff in his truck...,!!! Toilet paper to clothes, gloves..to feed..,,oil. everything
Toilet Paper! Tell him to keep it under lock and key. LOL
Maybe when you refinish your truck bed, you should Rhino line the top of the bed (or the whole thing). Or...just get a new Ford F-450 with a service bed.
hi ,, when i was a road mach. i had a truck that inside was 7 ft tall ,, i had a 2 inch black pipe about 3 ft high ,, was able to put a bench grinder and a big vise on it with a 2 1/4 inch pipe to slide over it with a pin to lock it in place ,, take one off and put the other on ,, i had a gas power gen. and a hot start that would start 2,, 12 volt engines or a 24 volt had 50 ft cables on it ,, had a gas power air comp. had a mid. size torch set with 50 ft hose on it ,,, but the truck was a 7 ton ford box truck ,, with side compartments ,,, inside the cab i had a 12 volt cig lighter battery charger for my battery tools
Like theone take Wednesday. More content =good.
That 6.0 treated me so bad I won’t even let one park in my driveway. Lol
I would go with Morocco welding they make very strong and long lasting beds. And they are located up in summerset pa.
Matt, I use bf good ridged AT2's 10 ply. I get about 60-70,000 miles out of them and only ever get nails on the side walls and have never had a plug go bad on the side walls. I pay about $185.00 per tire at 285/75 R16. Hope that helps
I have an 03 7.3L F250 long bed same cab as yours with 120k original Texas miles on it that would blow your mind its so clean. I bought it about 5 years ago with 84k miles from the original owner. I never plan to sell it and will hand it over to my son when I pass or get so old I can't drive anymore. I only use it to pull a 36foot three slide 5th wheel though as I have a Ram 1500 and a Tesla Model 3 as my daily drivers.
I have a 1999 f 350 love it Lenny D
One thing I might suggest for this truck and or your next with all the trailers and heavy stuff you haul some air bags can really help
I have a set of khumo road venture at51s on mine theyve been good so far not sure on home many miles i have on them as my odoeter quit at 185k before i bought the truck
still have my 05 like yours. however had to upgrade to a 6.7 cummins 6 speed. best thing i ever did. reading service body is great
That’s what I’m thinking. I still love this truck but I’m outgrowing it
@@DieselCreek I love my 6 Oh! But the power and fuel economy of the 6.7 cummins is hands down. Honestly hate the shipping crate that the cummins is in though
i have great sucess with spray in box liner . i sprayed my F350 Dually 4 years ago and no problems and i too live in an area where they use lots of salt on the roads
What size rims do you have? I can't argue with Toyo Tires. They make excellent tires. You may consider the Open Country MT. I have them on my F250 and the noise is reasonable
Nice truck, run her til she don't go no more. Toyo just come out with Open Country AT III tires, all terrain and they come in F load rating.Great video.
Curious how much was the truck when you bought it and/or how much do you think you have put into it fixing it over the years?
Epoxy paint is good protection against rust, of course you need clean surface to apply and epoxy paint nozzle too.
As far as the bed goes, I have no experience with utility beds. I made the same mistake that you did when I put a flat bed on my 77 Cheyenne. Mine is a temco, which has the rub-rails (A custom order) on the back as well as the sides so I don't lose any bed space for a tailgate. The mistake is I should have gone with an aluminum alloy instead of the steel. No rust then. I do have 4 tool boxes hanging from mine which gives a lot of storage space. So I suggest a aluminum flat bed with 4 hanging boxes.
As far as the truck goes, I have always been a fan of dependability. For that reason I would suggest The Silverado as it is the longest lasting full size truck on the road. I personally don't care about what is popular, I care about what will last.
Thanks for the video!
we buy BF Goodrich all terrain MT's on all of our trucks in our fleet. They do well in the snow and on the right of way, but are not noisy on the highway. Usually get them at Wallys and sometimes Monro in Weirton. We get a good bit of miles out of them also.
Ended up going with a toyo AT-3 I had good luck with the RT so I figure these should do well as well
Hello Matt, I have always liked the American truck, being British we dont get them over here, well not often. I like the Checker Plate back, pity its rusting badly. As they say over with you, nothing like cubic capacity C.C. I mean, as over here the motors are a lot smaller, it sounds good, Anyway I like the Tool box and the contents. Good video. Best wishes, Geoff Lewis, Wales, UK, 🏴🏴🏴
