I am little bit north of 500whp on 91oct safe tune. 7-8psi procharged it is completely safe on stock internals with propper tune and cost is not 10K. With little bit of know how you can install it for little over 7k. If you install long tubes with labor it is additional 2k(max). Btw motor just don't blow away if you know what are you doing but if he doing stupid sh...things he will not have any engine left for the upgrade. Cheapo way to swap pulley to bump boost is dumb. There is cam to swap, ported heads, ported intake... then befor upping boost internals. Stroker kit ●by it self● it is not big power adder (30-50whp), it is more like safety level for increased boost

    If I were to build a 5.7, it would probably be a cam, exhaust, and low boost. By low boost, I would limit it to no more than 8 lbs. That would push the build to the limits of the rest of the drivetrain. If you add a stroker kit and build the rest of the drivetrain to support 700 plus horsepower, you'd be getting into Hellcat money. Without throwing stones at the R/T, the Hellcat is just a better car. For example, the Hellcat has better brakes, suspension, and wheels.

    For me it's N/A all day! Superchargers and turbos are hard on engines, and since they run all the time they all take a shit, and when they do your car is down. To me it's just another thing under the hood that can and will go wrong. At least with nitrous guys if there system goes down they still have N/A. A well built N/A stroker car is plenty for the street and it's simple. If anything I would add a touch of nitrous for the track! The 397 and the supercharged 5.7 would be a fairly close race. The 5.7 would put down more power. However, the manual is at a disadvantage against the 8 speed automatic. Using the Hellcat as an example, the automatic is probably close to half a second faster than the manual version. If the supercharged 5.7 were also an automatic, it should beat the N/A 397 in the quarter mile.

It just comes down to naturally aspirated can run *safely* on pump gas and only a fool would spend north of $6k on a procharger, then cheap out and run pump gas.

  • @johnk7739
    @johnk7739 Před 4 lety

    All I'm going to give a detailed opinion so please read.
    1. Forced air would be the cheapest way to make the most horsepower possible.
    2. Stroker sounds cool, is built to handle boost, wont make as much power as FI build and costs more.
    3. Forced air setup can be removed for resale, stroker cant.
    4. If everything equal between the 2 vehicles (trans, tires, driver, weight) the forced air setup will be faster.
    In short if your looking for the most out of it possible a blower is the way to go.
    If you have the 10k to go stroker, and will be happy with mid 400whp go for it.
    It's also complete bullshit that these 5.7/392 cars cant handle boost. Guys have been making 500 plus whp with the 5.7 for years now, and 600whp with the 392 for years. Of course a video of a canned tune FI car being blown up will get the most attention, but we never hear about the countless cars that are boosted for years and thousands of miles.
    Another thing we need to put to bed is the god damn hellcat debate. Out of box yes the hellcat is a great deal. If you dont modify it, it's great but the SECOND you modify it throw the warranty away - AND if you blow it up or pop a piston your looking at serious MONEY.
    I can blow my 392 3 times and replace it for what a Hellcat engine costs. Local guy here blew his hellcat up, piston broke and contacted the heads, and his whole engine from blower to pan was toast. He got a USED engine for $16,500.
    Fact is it is a gamble no matter what you do, and I'd take my payments of a Scatpack with my blower setup any day over paying over $1,000 a month for a Hellcat with the fear of modifying it because I don't want to drop nearly 20k into replacing the engine.
