The LS is a good motor. But finally something different
i wanna see some v6 stuff
TurboV6Firebird in-line 6
I completely agree!!
Better
True, love the LS but keep in mind 5.7 eagle hemi head (2009 and up) outflows the LS heads by a considerable margin
Thanks for the hemi stuff! I been feeling neglected lol
Finally someone is paying attention to the 5.7 hemi thank you so much!!!!
@@antonioangelo3438 Very legit. Both of you bots joined CZcams a week ago, commented at the same time and have generic usernames. I totally believe you.

Excited for Mopar content on the channel Richard.
Thank you Richard , there are many of us mopar people who love your video's, the LS stuff is cool and we learn a lot from it, but nothing like seeing what our hemi's will do going from stock to modified to boosted , keep em coming please
About time you show us Mopar guys some love!
More Mopar
DaveCaresForYou @nick’s garage ur welcome
@DaveCaresForYou ...the 400 Low-Deck can be built up really nice
@DaveCaresForYou Hot Rod put a Procharger on one & made like 1,100 on pump-gas
@DaveCaresForYou ... I didn't build the 400... I was referring to a few magazine articles I've read about the 400 Low Deck... Check out the article on Hot Rod.com ...type in 400 Mopar 1,100 on pump gas, it should come right up... I do think they changed the crank to the 383 forged steel piece, and maybe swapped the stock pistons for a set of aftermarket slugs (JE, Ross, etc...)...eveything is in the build-up ...
@DaveCaresForYou those 400 Big-block Mopar V8's had real low compression from the factory... I think they were rated at 8.5:1... those pistons sat down in the cylinder quite a bit at TDC... I do know one thing though...they can be bored and stroked to a 511/512 c.i. displacement (all forged internals), add some nice heads (Trick Flow, Indy, Brodix B-1) ...with a good intake ...even naturally aspirated that thing will probably make 800 h.p...add some forced induction, or nitrous & u would be way over one thousand h.p....lotta Mopar guys slept on the 400 blocks for a while, but now they seem to be the one that guys want for a stroker build...once u dig deep into the specs of the 400 Low Deck u will see what I'm referring to... Check out 440 Source website & Muscle Motors...they both go in detail about that block (w/ photos)
Thank you for testing a hemi . And all your great information. Enjoy all you videos . Cant wait to see whats next
I remember the firs time I pulled a head off a modern hemi, was blown away by the size of the standard valves 😍
You think 2.00 valves are huge for a 352, you should look at the Ford 351C 4v...2.13. Even the 2v heads are 2.04
Pontiac makes them all look like amateurs 😉...
@@Wickhaven1 I'd still take the bigger valve 4v they flow ridiculously and over take a good stock Pontiac head after .350" at .500" on the poncho heads...
Coming from a Pontiac owner haha
@@hayden6056 Definitely can’t argue that point.
Great video Richard. The 5.7 Hemi is another great budget build as well. Thanks for sharing.
I learned alot of knowledge from your channel by owning a 5.7L T A every single detail is very helpful, feels like I'm back in high school 🏫
Keep the HEMI stuff coming!
A fresh upload with fresh coffee @6am.... life is good!
That was some amazing gains even just NA!
Thanks for showing this as I want to buy an older 2012-14 300C Hemi and have some fun with it😁👍👍
I would love to see same test on the big dog 6.4L HEMI
Great video and upgrades. Thanks for sharing and I learned so much.
I had a guy tell me the stock bottom end on a 5.7 was only good for 500hp or so.. This gave me hope for my R/T. Thanks a million! I'd love to see more in the future!
bottom ends on hemis are good for 1000 hp
@@camille5553 that explains why he only added ring gap.
Lol yea that's not true. They have a solid bottom end

Killer video. Goes hand and hand with your book, How to build new Hemi Performance. Gen 3 Hemi swap going on with my 1935 Dodge Pickup. These videos make me want to get it done even sooner!
Love the Hemi videos
How has this channel not blown up yet?!?
I'm ready
Richard Holdener me too! I’ve been watching for several months and can’t wait for future content. Suggestion, do power mods and comparisons on “other than V8 engines”. Power is power but it’s very special when you get crazy power from low displacement.
I've got to get a Hemi in my life.I feel incomplete.
But, I have had a 671 blown 425 nail head Buick so there is that......lol
I have always wanted twin buick straight 8's in a hot rod.
@@noahtheviking1 Can you imagine a single seat mid engine car with you sitting between the two straight eights???
Now that's a classic! Had a 63 1/2 Riv with a 401 Nailhead. Tommy Ivo and Max Balchowsky knew how to make them run back in the day. Don't sleep on them👍
Well I have hemi truck. Used to have 2013 hemi charger and I have a 1965 skylark with a 1974 455 big block

Awesome 👏 too see some stuff with the 5.7 hemi I have a gen 4 hemi with all the same mods .. love all the LS stuff as well . Can’t wait to see some 6.6 Ls mods in the future 😁
I'm an old school Mopar guy and didn't know much about Gen3 mods.
I purchased your book "How to Build the New Hemi" and found it very informative.
I see a Gen3 powered A Body in my future.
Finally Mopar
I expected richard to start speaking with a spooky eastern European accent with that dramatic lighting.
Really liking the Hemi stuff.. bought my first Hemi Ram this year 2020 Ram Limited sport blackout and its unbelievable. I felt like I was committing treason cause every vehicle me or my family has ever owner has been GM. I traded in a 19 GMC Denali for the Ram and it was the best move I've ever made on a vehicle. The interior looks like a Rolls Royce compared to the Denali and the engine and transmission tuning is so smooth but yet aggressive compared to my GMC. Thanks for the Hemi video looking forward to more.
man this is making me want to actually mod my 5.7 charger haha. great video, thanks man!
Thank you for these videos
Insane. Great info. So excited to mod my hemi Durango in time. Trying to find a grest naturally aspirsted set up. Those long tubes with 6.4 cam and intake is nuts. Subbed
I have a 2019 charger r/t with the 5.7, I would be more than happy to have you guys do that to my car.
Great video Richard thank you for thank infor
love your videos. i watch them everyday. would be cool if you could include what kind of fuel your using in all your tests. also and i dont know if you wanna include it but seeing what your putting in for timing in all these tests would be cool also. keep up the videos!!
I have a charger R/T 2008 Awd with the 5.7L hemi and it sound so good! Powerful and durable ! 👍
Great job...I love this video...
Thank you for this video!
I’d love to see a recent 5.7 with the same mods in comparison to this model 5.7.
Facts
No different, slightly better heads , more area under the curve if you keep VCT
@@accordv6er The Eagle hemi flows way way more than Pre Eagle; more compression; bigger ports; bigger cams; better intake; ect

Love the videos Richard, your jump cuts are a little early but awesome videos nonetheless
Man! How can someone interested to learn something new about ALL engines, volunteer and help around the shop for free.

Nice video I love hemispheres
Also, would love to see rotaries on the dyno 😂 would be mint, boosted especially
That 5.7 did really good, like u said im a Hemi fan! Or ls or small block or big block Chevy or BB mopar or Ford or Honda or rotory or whatever it is when u start cranking up the power output! Lol
Thank God its something other than an LS. Awesome video
If only there were 1000 videos up on non LS motors
I do really appreciate your approach to the subject (that being .. how do xxxx motors respond to this or that mod or combination)) also love the ones where you take say an intake and test it against a bunch of other intakes. I grew up on Hot Rod magazine and that is what they used to do (mostly) also... real glad you ran the baseline junkyard motor first. Back in the day we could not afford a lot of things but we knew that a half worn out 283 would be 'just loose enough but not too loose' LOL for the mods that always worked (best bang for the buck) and that would be the most aggressive mechanical cam with specs say like the offroad LT 370 hp one.. Then add whatever headers would fit and were not too rusty and finish it all off with a good used single plane and something like an 850 DP Holley. and... select from the pile of 3rd members that sorta noisy but with some life left ...456 posi pumpkin... dump it all in one of the tri five wagons lying around... or just happen to have a sorta nice 56 Nomad.... Man... you got yourself a street fighter for sujre. Maybe $5-700 bucks in the whole thing... we don't count wheels and tires cause they were stacked up everywhere. Mostly tho you had to have 5 spoke Americans with 8" fronts and 10" rears. Those were the days huh? Course... it would barely idle and you were 'tuning it up" every other day (that does not mean You had to go through your tuner chips menu) And we broke stuff... big dirty heavy cast iron things. And now the 4 speed was starting to pop out of second once in a while. But hey.. blowing the doors off of a newish GTO or Mustang felt pretty good. Even without air conditioning.
Great video
Amazing, I learn something with each video. Thanks Rich!
Is there anything more satisfying than watching a engine spin it's heart out on a dyno?
Nice.. I have a 5.9 360 la small block stroked to a 410 striker mild cam trick flow heads single plain intake long tube headers n I’m getting the pro flow 4 with a torque storm
Supercharger
The Torque Storm reminds me of an old Powerdyne blower. I'd like to have seen the pull start down low to see if it picked up what it had lost from the single plane.
Keep it up 💪 man
I want to master these engines. And be able to build performance hemi for others to buy completed eventually in life
Nothing like a COG BELT to drive a blower. 🤘🏻😎
I'd love to try this in a AWD Charger/ Magnum RT cuz I live in snow country and like sleepers that are good from a dig.
The awd system is not the greatest for racing. It is best for normal driving. Aka it not really an advantage due to the weight and gearing.
Great video glad to see more mopar content. How many Lbs of boost did you run on the TorqueStorm?
Scared in the dark holdener is the only way we will watch videos from here on out! 😂🤣
I like Steve. Was he sitting in the corner biting his nails? Such a character.
id like to do a new Hemi ina old dart or something They really are a decent engine and super easy to work on. Even easier than a LS.
The junkyard hemis are starting to become affordable. I still can’t decide what is going to replace the slant 6 in my Duster. It’s either going to be a ram 5.7 Hemi with a cam or a ram magnum 360 with aftermarket heads/cam. I’m seeing good magnums for as little as 250 bucks!
I got one a few years ago for 1800 with 90k miles on it. Plan on keeping it forever 99 5.9l ram
I have an idea for you to test. I would be interested to see you test the efficiency of forced induction units. Let me explain, so you have a common test motor and you test how to get the absolute most or optimized at x blower/turbo RPM. Maybe see how much power you can make on the m90 set up with getting as small of a pulley as you can. Then maybe cooling the air charge as much as possible or adding some meth or EtOH before the blower so that it helps cool and seal the rotor blades better.
How about an intercooler set up that is super convoluted by making a bunch of turns as if it was in a chassis vs having a relatively direct shot towards the intake manifold with as a little turns as possible. How about testing intercooler size at a given boost / CFM/RPM. So see if a 3-inch core compared to a 4-in core compared to a dumb oversized 8-in core has any difference. Is there too large of an intercooler ever?
How much power can you actually squeeze out of a vortech S trim? They advertise 675hp but but can you optimize it and actually get maybe 700 maybe 750? What about a procharger PSC1 vs the equivalent vortech? Which is more capable or better curve. Same for top mount comparison
What about bullseye's batmo-wheel vs a different turbo with a more standard style of compressor wheel in an equivalent size.
That is awesome power for an old engine. The cam is relatively small and there is no intercooler. Just imagine what would happen with more cam and intercooler.
I feel like he probably pulled out a good amount of timing on the motor for the boost aswell mainly cause the pistons suck in a hemi for boost hypereutetic piston life one rattle and gone. I love my mopars if it wasnt for that one thing from the factory I feel like these would become way more popular then they are now
Cool. Finally a mopar!!
Wow I was thinking about swapping in a 6.4 and dealing with the headache of all that to get more power, but it looks like my 5.7 will do just fine. We will see how my block and the rest of the components are doing at 220k miles. If there is significant wear I'm sure I can find a Gen III 5.7 with much lower mileage for cheap.
More hemi videos please
Do the Lexus V8 series. 1UZ, 2UZ and 3UZ. See what parts can be swapped and see the gains! Then boost it!! Please!!!
You'll love it, i promise.
would love to see a test on the limits of the torquestorm superchargers. i remember when they were listed at 500hp per piece max
we've done over 700 hp and I bet we could see 800 hp on a very high hp na application, but they are a good 700-hp blower
Great power ❤
Yay HEMI
Right on
YES, Let's find out!! #MoparNutInTheHouse
Please consider putting some forged pistons in a future HEMI and some serious boost on it *****Calling Steve D. at Westech
You should go into the history of the Torqstorm supercharger. Powerdyne supercharger, yes the crappy ones from the 90’s, owed a ton of cash to a vendor which did the machine work. The machine shop got the rights to Powerdyne, fixed the internal belt breaking and bearing issues and rebranded the the super chargers. I guess they’ve made money off it finally.
Not entirely true. Powerdyne went out of business. Another company bought all the left over parts from them. Thus company approached Accelerated tooling products to redesign a better head unit with similar shape to be used in their old bracket designs. On their own dime Accelerated developed what is now Torqstorm Superchargers. When presented to the company they decided it was no longer a venture they wanted to pursue. After consuming the huge investment into developing the Torqstorm supercharger and doing all the testing. The company Accelerated Racing Products was formed and here it is 10yrs later growing more everyday.
Jeff Neibarger seems like I saw an interview from the machine shop that ended up with all of Powerdyne/Ford Racing/ Cool racing junk. As I said , someone needs to start doing videos on the histories of speed parts companies.
*Awesome video, can you do more with the 6.1 hemi? I'd be willing to send my 2010 SRT8 Jeep if you need a test mule....*
Hey brotha if you’re lookin to donate an engine I’d be more than happy to take it off your hands, my 340 spun a rod in my barracuda I’d love to swap in the srt8 engine and add boost if you’re serious I’d document the whole thing start to finish
@@anguishuidboat3 hey thanks for reaching out to me. I had to reword that post, sorry for the miscommunication on that. I meant that I'd be willing to send my vehicle to him to do 6.1 Hemi testing with. I'm not looking to give an engine away. Your build does sound really cool though, I'd love to see that process!
The lighting makes you look like the grim reaper
How dare you speak that way about captain Jean-Luc Picard ?
I need that motor for my Chrysler 300
Im in desperate need of some real world testing of methanol injection combined with an ATW intercooler results. I cant find any real concrete evidence of anyone doing showing positive or negative results. I figured someone would have done this by now. Im looking for the ultimate cooling combo for high boosted applications like 27psi and beyond. Thanks richard holdener love your channel. Im a ford guy btw
I did water/meth vs Intercooler for Engine Masters-WM has trouble with distribution on long-runner intakes
@@richardholdener1727 Yea but the test was not done with the aftercooler and methanol together at the same time and it would have been great to see on a single plane intake considering a lot of racers use single plane intakes.
Richard, Considering this type of power on a stock motor. Is there any plans to update this engine to forged internals or will the stock internals hold with a proper tune to protect the engine? also what pressure was the supercharger running at?
lots of power is easy but wouldn't bet on that set up lasting. Needs a re build forged pistons at least with some lighter valves and a intercooler.
Can you get pulleys to run a poly chain ( timing belt style) to mitigate blower pulley slip?
can you go into more detail on how you got the holley hp to work with the hemi
Good to see they can make 650 reliably
I'd like to see what all these Hemi mods can do with the truck intake on it since there's so many trucks and SUV's that run that intake
Can u run the torqstorm with a bigger crank pulley and a waste gate to keep the torque up on the bottom end?
It would be really interesting to see a junkyard srt10 truck motor
How much boost did you run to make that 677hp? I don't think you said. I've got a 03 ram hemi with almost the exact setup as your N/A the only difference is I still have the truck intake, and I just need to get the tune lined out but I still have the original 03 computer and from what I hear you cant custom tune with it, was thinking about going with the torque storm later down the road and this video definitely made up my mind.
gen 3 hemi is a nice engine. killer ports. where were the heads ported?
I love it 5.7 hemi definitely will respond, I did want to know what the torque numbers went to.. how much was gained?
Can this be done minus the single plane intake on a LX Hemi?
How about a 225ci slant turbo test for the classic mopar folks. Maby a stock junkyard l6 shoot out. How much can the classic l6 motors make before rods exit. Ford vs chevy vs Chrysler. I still see a lot of strait six trucks from all manufacturers running the streets. Probably more 300 fords than anything but they kept them in production for the longest time.
The slant had a longer and way more diverse production run
125,000 miles boosted to 6500 rpm is impressive in its self.
Wow richard . You do more cam swapping in a chevy motor . Can you do more pulls on the Mopar motor
You should do a boost video on hemi 6.4
306.4hp with a 20% drive-train loss to the wheels on a stock/long-tube header car,
412hp with 20% drive-train loss with headers, 273cam, ported heads, intake manifold,
541hp with the addition of torque storm blower and all that shiz combined
Need some 09+ eagle 5.7 with same setup...I bet it would be a 50hp+ difference easy
I'm thinking of getting the torque storm
Question, is it wise to bore my 09 5.7l hemi 20 overbore and keep the stock crankshaft with a 273 cam ???
What are your thoughts about the TorqStorm supercharger? I’m debating on getting one for try 6.1 Hemi.
How much boost was it? Can the torq storm do more than 10psi?
it’s about the transmission too
I can’t find an electric water pump for a 2015 5.7? Also when you swap out from mechanical pumps, what size belt do you recommend? Cheers and thanks for all the badass work !
