  • Yeah, that’s right, we’re finally doing a Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie on this show and it’s the third sequel. But I swear I have good reasoning. It gives us two future academy award winners and they're acting the shit out of this movie. Then there's Leatherface who has gone from scary wielder of motorized objects to this wailing, cross-dressing mess. So join us, as we go through the insanity that is Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation
WATCH OR OWN THE FILM HERE: amzn.to/3IMdmtX
Written, Narrated, and Edited by Tyler Nichols
Produced by John Fallon and Tyler Nichols
    Executive Producer by Berge Garabedian
NOTE: Hey fellow horror fiends, we are rebranding some of our shows in the name of growing our audience on CZcams; hence yes; this video is a Real Slashers episode.
SERIES SYNOPSIS: Ahhh the 80's. A simpler time where the blood ran red, the tits swung freely, and the weed was copiously smoked. A time where rampant killers were simply excuses for excessive sex and over the top murder. Yes, we're looking at an era where the slasher movie ran wild over cinemas everywhere. Today, we're looking at "Real Slashers."

This holds a special place my heart because I saw it in Theaters with my little bro, when I used to pick him up from High School and we'd go to Movies. We both saw the Original and Part 2. I skipped 3 and have never watched it in it's entirety, so we were both shocked as Hell at how this turned out. It was a disaster. An enjoyable disaster, but a disaster still. My bro passed away in 11 years later. I will always watch it, when I can because of him. We loved almost every Movie we saw in 1997.

I remember this one was constantly on cable in the 90s. McConaughey gives such an insane performance that must be seen to be believed or appreciated depending on how you look at it. It truly is the type of performance that once you see it you can't unsee it or forget it. Either way the movie does have something to it that can't be denied in terms of it's sheer insanity. So based off that I can kind of get what Henkel was going for and whether or not he succeeded is completely subjective to the viewer. No matter if you love or hate the movie there is no denying that it is something that we will probably never see duplicated again and whether or not that's a good or bad thing will always be open for debate.

Fun fact, one of the cops at the pizza joint, is played by Debra McMichael. It' a pretty bold satire of the slasher genre. I think people overlook that aspect. It was made before SCREAM and a lot of the elements, including Rothman and the whole Illuminati subplot, are metaphors that riff on elements of the genre, horror filmmaking, etc.

One thing I HATED in this movie was Leatherface. The character himself. He's not scary AT ALL. Acting whippy, whiny as Nikocado Avocado. Think of all the times he was introduced in the prior films:
The original: Appears behind the sliding door and bashed the guy with a mallet, and draged him in.
The sequel: Riding on a back of a truck while wearing a corpse around him, hacking two other people and shredding their vehicle.
Third film: Showed him making a new mask and showing his massive presence of his silhouette.
Here? He recreates the Sonic 2019 trailer by screaming while the girl screams at him with his annoying crying. (For years I thought this Leatherface was played by a actress just the way he acts.)
I am not a strong guy myself, so let me tell you with pure passion that I can kick TNG Leatherface's ass. Renee Zellweger even tells him to sit down and he actually listens. They somehow achieved to make a cannibalistic man wearing human skin as masks about as scary as Sesame Street. Let's just be SO glad the remake made him menacing and threatening as he should be.

I love how unhinged this movie was. Barry was the ultimate gaslighter and dbag character. The first time I rented this movie I don't even think I finished it, it took me watching it sick one night and waking up during the illuminati explanation (which I thought was a lie at the time) then passing out and waking up for the Rothman character... I was sold at this point. Rewatched the movie and really appreciated the spin they were trying to accomplish. I still rank it higher than 2 and 3.

I didn't watch this film as the cover of dvd ala the lipstick chainsaw dispenser looked very silly and had grown weary of sequels which were very prevalent at that time, although TCM 2 and other exceptions ranged from enjoyable to awesome. Matthew McConaughey has grown on me in the years after his solid performance in 2011's The Lincoln Lawyer and as you pointed out, it's always fun to watch Oscar recipients B movie roots, in this case two of them on the screen at the same time. It's about time i watch this curiousity and perhaps add it to my collection of so bad its good films. it was a nice touch to mention to McConaughey's book Greenlights and his thoughts on TCM 4 as it is a fun listen. Cheers and have a nice day.

I literally just got this on bluray and watched it for the first time start to finish. I 100% agree with your assessment….it’s nowhere near as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I’ve seen much, MUCH worse Horror films. If you take it as a mid-90s, pre-Scream Slasher movie, it’s pretty enjoyable. McConaughey is excellent in it. Zellweger is great too (her “YOU sit the fuck down!” line is classic and hilarious). Barry is a total asshole, but has some of the best dialogue too. It’s definitely worth a look and I’m glad to see if finally getting a fair shake all these years later.

As a fan of "bad movies," I can say what I normally like about them is how self-aware they are. They know they're bad and act accordingly! Another favorite "bad movie," Shark Attack III: Megalodon has the look and feel of a bad movie and plays into it FULLY.
TCM Next Generation, however, looks and feels like a legitimate Horror movie it just happens to be absolutely BONKERS!

So I turned you off the minute you said you could watch Vilmer for hours. You’re obviously as crazy as he is. 👋🏾

This movie is absolute dog shit and deserves every ounce of hate it gets. Just because other shitty Massacre movies have been made since, that coupled with nostalgia glasses, doesn’t mean it deserves a pass lol

I know....It's become the new popular thing for people to defend this movie and say how "different" it is. But, geez, I've watched this thing multiple times and it's just terrible. It's boring...Making fun of tropes by abusing them? Not buying it. Just lazy film making. There are decent actors in this. But when you're given trash to act to, there's not much you can do. The beginning is just a bunch of slasher tropes going on and on. It makes you wonder if the creators are just idiots or lazy. The middle drags on and one. And the "Illuminati" crap just seems to be the creators trying to be all "META" and tell the audience how sick and demented they are for watching this kind of trash. Honestly, I will take Texas Chainsaw 3D any day of the week over this pile of garbage. I'll defend ANY of the other ones. But this one is just a trailer fire.

This is not only the worst Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie, not only one of the worst horror movies I've seen, but one of the worst movies ever. I hated seeing this movie.

This movie is literally better than the Netflix crap we got, it isn't even a debate, TCM 2022 Netflix, 0 originality, remove laurie strode and put on sally hardesty, remove michael myers and put on leatherface (literally Leatherface in that movie feels like michael myers for most of the movie except for the scene he runs out of the dark with the chainsaw) remove haddonfield and put a ghost town that doesn't make sense, just rubbish! yes yes very good photography and that..., and that is? bruh. the only good thing about that movie is the soundtrack at the end hahaha

Who chooses the narrators? This guy is awful. Take a cue from the Texas Chainsaw series and get someone who has a good speaking voice like John Larroquette.
