đ· ABOUT US đ·
We're a DIY family building our "forever homestead" from 15 acres of raw undeveloped land in Tennessee. All of our content is family friendly and safe for everyone to enjoy.
In today's video we use a Bobcat E32 Mini Excavator to connect our driveway to the road, excavating and feathering our connection point for our driveway tile or culvert drain. We then use a 1960s model Ford 2000 tractor with a set of discs or disk harrows to smooth out and prep our driveway for compaction and gravel delivery.

We love the FORD! I'm happy to see the progress you have made, and lending the FORD is small change for all the help you have given me over the years! Onward and upward brother!
Itâs what family does!! Thanks again for the loaner and again and again. đ
Green Acres is the place to be!
Farm living is the life for me!
Land spreading out so far and wide âŠ
I confess, I love watching you working and I love watching the kids playing.
Thereâs nothing like the sounds and smells of an old tractor! Both sets of my grandparents were farmers ! When I was young I spent time on those farms! Much joy to think back! Thanks!đđđđ
That's awesome!!
Yep....more trees. (don't mind me, I'm the local, neighborhood tree hugger) Any of the folks around here take out a tree....I plant 2. My late father's prized Austrian Pine had to go because it was blocking the view onto the road so the kid and I gathered cones and planted as many seeds as we could. We came up with dozens of viable trees that now grace every possible space. Say, how about a small orchard? Can't go wrong with fruit trees. How about a black walnut tree? They grow big and beautiful here and I hear not bad in TN either :) I heard Angela mention trees and I sorta went off in a tangent. (But...that driveway will be the perfect tree-lined drive...don't you think?....but mind the water line)
Whenever we need our road packed down I will ask our tash man or the propane delivery guy to make a few passes. They usually don't mind and I toss them $20. It packs very hard.
In the last months your outakes are becoming some of my favorite content to watch!!
Hey Sam and Angela!! Love the land and your layout. FYI..."poor" people are truly the "richest" people on Earth!! We work hard for what we have and appreciate every aspect of life, the sun rises, the sun sets, the precious time we spend with family, a good pot of pintos and a big pan of fried taters, if our vehicle makes it from point A to point B and how thankful we are when it does!đ And we know how to truly laugh and be happy!! So carry on with your budget friendly ways and when you save all that money, it will help towards the final big home move!! I can't wait! Love sharing in y'alls adventure!
Now I want pintos and taters!!! :) Well said, and we can't agree with you more! :)
@@GreenAcreHomestead Lol! Me too! Looks like pintos, taters and a big bowl of homemade coleslaw with a iron skillet pan of cornbread is on the menu for supper!! And a rainy cold day is the perfect time to have this supper!! Hope y'all have a wonderfully blessed weekend and can't wait for the next video!!
Oh my goodness stop!! Canât handle the thought of that good food!!!!! When we eat? đ
@@GreenAcreHomestead Lol! 6 pm!! Come on over!!đ I would love to have y'all as neighbors!! You never know what a blessing good neighbors are until a "rough" bunch moves into the neighborhood! We would have a blast!! I love happy, hard working people and positive people and y'all are all the above!!
The last clips hopefully will give some of the viewers a little insight on what it takes to make these videos; know it sure did me. Thanks Green Acres Homestead, stay safe and God Bless.
The drone view down on the driveway was a great idea, it gave a fabulous view of what you are achieving .
Glad you enjoyed it!! I was pleased it turned out like I hoped, too. :)
So happy to see your progress. Looks like youâre having favorable weather. That always helps get work done. Thank you for sharing the complexity of developing the videos. Sometimes we forget the backstory when the videos seem so easy and free-flowing. Youâre getting so close to bringing your camper to the new homestead.
Every job site needs a supervisor, Angela makes a superior supervisor! Great job guys!đ
I agree, she kept me on track very well. :)
What a pleasure it is to watch your dreams become a reality, Sam and Angela. Both of you have such congenial on-camera personalities that it makes for an enjoyable video as well. God bless you and your boys.
"...and here comes the neighbor." Made me laugh. Great job. All these steps are adding up to great things.
Hehehe... we were right at the front of the property about 5' off the road. Feeling like crazies -- two grown people talking to a camera on a tripod. LOLOL They were just driving by, and waved nicely, but we still felt silly. LOL No telling what they thought!! Hahahaha
Those of us who are not videologists have no concept of what it takes to put on interesting and smooth running content. Your out-takes give us a little taste. Really, it's a miracle you get any work done. It looks like it takes time, and patience. KUDOS to you guys.
The fact you realized and took the time to comment says a lot and we appreciate you so much for it! :) Making a video easily makes anything we do take twice or three times as long and adds a lot of complexity. :)
Haha videologist!
@@GreenAcreHomestead Let me tell you something. I have so much RESPECT for video creators on here. Just trying to work in some super short Instagram stories would frustrate me & make me run behind sometimes. Couldn't imagine producing videos!! Hoping all is well guys, Dirty Jersey out!!
Hi there
When the wife is happy.
Everybody is happyđ
Have a good day be safe god bless
You got that right! I consider it a win / win situation. :)
I wholeheartedly second that!! And when she's not happy? I run to the garage!!!
You guys are great! Me and my wife enjoy watching your videos so much!
Awesome! Thank you for letting us know!
One step at a time. đ
Ha ha thought you were going to have to wrestle the feral child for that excavator. Isms and ologists Jon would be proud youâre carrying on the tradition. I love watching, heck I miss my tractors love big toys. Excellent work by both of you!
đ
You've caused my husband and I to separate...temporarily. Lol. My husband has been a diesel mechanic for over 35 years. When he walked into the room and sat beside me and heard the purr of that engine, he said, "WHAT are you doing?!! Are you out of your mind? I love you and everything, but I can't sit here and listen to that!" LOL. I enjoyed it. There is something therapeutic about watching someone else work. đ
Those boys are the cutest things the oldest boy wants to be like his daddy they are hard little workers tyfs hugs and prayers
I literally dropped it all for your video
The gravel will be cool! Can't wait!
I'm not sure if you said this or not but I would recommend putting a heavy underlayment fabric down on the driveway. I think it would save you lots of money in the long run for maintaining the driveway. But I'm sure this video is a week late too so it may be too late haha. Either way I'm glad I get to watch a whole new property take shape with you guys at the wheel.
We heavily considered installing the fabric, but decided not to for a few reasons. Having the geo fabric below would never allow us to use implements like box blades with rippers, land planes, or other sculpting equipment. It would also require us to have a much more finish graded and sculpted driveway with crown, drainage ditches, etc. than what we have right now. Lastly, the cost for the geo fabric was just too much for us to afford. We're running very thin on finances to hopefully accomplish the project in a timely manner so we have to be very careful on what is necessary vs. what we would do if we had all options. :)
@@GreenAcreHomestead Understandable. You gotta do what you gotta do. It'll drive either way!
Love the little Ford's for smaller homesteads. The 2000 - 5000 size are perfect for most jobs. Hard to find around here or someone thinks they are made of gold & want a pretty penny for theirs when selling it.
Thank you to your brother for the loan.
I've been looking around for them a while and you're exactly right!! $4,000-6,000 for one in operational condition! :O I'll sneak this one over as much as I can in the meantime. LOL Given... Elijah's chomping at the bit for HIS Cub Cadet to be brought over. :) Not much longer... need a safe place to store it.
When are you bringing the mobile home to the property. I am so excited. Now we get to watch you even longer.
Soon as we get the money saved we can sign contracts with movers. They'll be doing house site grading, footers, and moving the home as part of the "package deal". :) All it takes is money! LOL
Love watching Sam work in fast time. Another enjoyable vid. Thanks y'all!
Good evening Sam and Angela . 22.58 UK
Memories! In my youth I spent hundreds of hours on an earlier version of the Ford 2000 (called an 8N) disking corn stalk rows after harvest.
That's so cool! The 8N models are so nice looking, too!
Great video Sam and Angela
I love your imaginative vocabulary, you should make a dictionary of your own new words. Very clever. Great work on the homestead. Looking good.
I would call your county highway department and see if the install the tiles for their county residents.
I also live in East TN. We called our County Highway department and they installed the tile for us. And the best thing is it was Free!!!! (Well I'm sure it is in with our county taxes but we didn't have to pay anything out of pocket.)
I spoke with them shortly after getting the land. :) Tile will be installed after the home has been moved. At their recommendation.
Its coming along. I love the bloopers at end. so funny I would have a ton of em..
We always did what you did then put down large rock. Packed down by driving on it then later small gravel went down. Looking good guys!
Another interesting day! đđđ
I don't always get to leave a comment as most of time I can only get your videos on my smart TV that doesn't allow comment. Good or bad. You do great jobs, I enjoy watching you and jealous that I can't do this anymore. Be safe.
Great job disking Sam
Great job Sam
Farm out! A cul-de-sac in the middle of a soybean field is bodacious cool!
I'm looking forward to the next one. Big hugs!
Hi ferrel boys! đ€
âźïžđđâïžđșđžđźđ±đđ
It would be interesting to have the kids shoot a video, you know how in the family circus cartoon, sometimes Billy takes over and does the drawings....haha
LOL đ! I love bloopers!
You should have left the piles of dirt on each side of the driveway. Berms on two sides for flowers and plants
Meant to say on your last video re trees lining the drive way: lots of stately homes in the UK have tree lined driveways which are called avenues. We also have tree lined streets also called avenues. They are always cool on a hot summers day, well in Wales slightly warmer days đđ. Some are lined with Plane trees, others oak and others cherry trees. All look beautiful. Can not wait to see your avenue of trees. đđđđ
Thanks for the info!! Yes, we need our own avenue!! :)
Love watching you guys build your new homestead! God bless your family!
Thank you so much!
very exciting. you make me smile without even trying.
Moving right along!
The kid in me thought those piles of dirt would have made a great bike jump for the feral children. :)
What an exciting day when you can move your camper trailer over! First night on your new property. So cool!
Yay, bloopers!! LOL
LOVE the Jnull0 reference.
That looked like a whole lotta fun !! đ. But with those acoustics- no worty dirds! đ€« đł đ€Ł.
It was fun!! And you're right... gotta be nicey nice! LOL
Great job! It's starting to look great out there, and to just think you guy will only be one state away from me. Hello neighbor. No just kidding, but you will be living just one state away.
Thanks, neighbor! :)
Have you mapped out a layout of where everything will be on paper? If so, maybe a show and tell would be nice.
We made a dedicated video on this about two videos back. :)
Glad you are able to use Adam's tractor. Doing a great job.
Hi Sam Angela & boys,so excited to watch your new homestead come to be your permanent home!! The boys are sure enjoying their time.Have a great week! đđ»đđđ»
Sam you are a hoot love watching your channel
Y'all are rocking it! All things in time. God Bless Y'all đđ
That child seems to love his bike& being outside!đ
They both do! :)
Thank you for sharing this!
I just love watching your videos you brighten up my day it's so down to earth and real thank you so much. Be blessed and safe.
Thank you so much, you too!
Get yourself a peice of railroad rail then you can drag it smooth dirt or gravel makes a difference.
you might have a put a cover pipe in the ditch to get it ground level
Great progress guys!
Your doing just fine , as long as you get the fall and the water run off right , no quagmires in the middle of your driveway , batter it well down , you will be fine . Have every faith in you all . Keep up the excellent work and content guys . See you in the next one , from UK .
Thanks đ
Awesome drone footage
Thanks đ
It is fun watching your property all come together, it will be so nice when you can get your camper set up.
Glad you enjoy it! We're so excited to setup our camper, too!
Your doing good
Loved watching. Looking good xx
You guys are awesome, and I can't wait to see what happens next. I enjoy watching your show and I'll be watching ya'll as you get everything done. God bless
The boys are enjoying flat land to ride their bikes. Do you plan to be moved over there before the snow flies? You might not have snow there, but at some point the weather begins to dictate our comings and goings. Everything seems to be shaping up nicely.
They really like it out there! It looks like our move may happen in the dead of winter. đ„¶ Or very early spring. Weâre still saving money for the move & septic install.
I'm sure I speak for most of your viewers when I say we probably get just as excited as you all do with each new step! I also wanted to ask what drone you guys use - I got a glimpse and it looked like the DJI mini. Just wanted to say your drone content is always great and I'm interested in purchasing a similar one!
Thanks for the bloopers, too lol!
Thank you, we appreciate that! Youâre right, itâs a DJI Mavic Mini. I would absolutely recommend it, but the newest version. :)
Based on several youtubers I watch recommendations, this is the one I plan to buy! Luckily the prices have gone down on this size drone. đ
I love your isms and ologies. makes me laugh, thank you.
Gleeb!!! That looks good! đđŒ
Love you guys new property. I can see the hills in the background, but its nice and flat. This was a super find for all the family. Great place, and will be so much nicer when you get it done the way you want it. Looking forward to your move. Almost makes me wanna move, as my property in West Virginia is so hilly and mountainous. Best wishes for you all.
Both being 'born-n-raised' in the mountains of NC, we will miss them visually, but the practical uses of flatter land is so much nicer! :)
Hey guys, are you gonna need a culvert? Our land is higher than road too, and we were told we need a culvert. We're waiting on county for that, but we managed to fill in with gravel temporarily. Oh boy I really have to be more patient when I comment đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł. Nice job, wish we had access to a tractor when we did ours. But we used really chunky gravel as a temporary Access. Love the out takes, my boys get hangry too đ
Being close to family.. and family with tractors is proving very handy! Hehehe :) We'll try to keep the outtakes coming -- so long as they're naturally occurring and caught on camera. :)
Iâm getting excited to see the progress moving forward.
Great channel Angela, Sam and Boys....Really enjoy it...:o)
I am so excited for your family! Those babies love the new place! Yea!
Love watching you build your new homestead. Thank you for taking us along. đâ€ïž
Video intro's... so difficult to film. I must have 300gb of false starts on my hard drives.
You truly know our pain!! :)
Culvert? đđđAwesome i watch all those videos too lol good stuff. đ
You're doing great can't wait for you to move the camper ! The boys look like they are having the time of their life !
We can't wait either!! It will be sooo nice to be on our own land!
Your brother is working you up to that new JD 5 series :) that is a nice old Ford tractor!! the driveway will look great! Just got my new tractor today with a box blade. If I lived in Tennessee instead of Indiana I would lend you a hand!
He must be! đ I like his blue one but would love a bucket loader too! I see a box blade in our futures. Between his place and ours weâll have plenty of gravel drives to maintain. đ I appreciate your offer to help!
@@GreenAcreHomestead Yes I just got my JD 2038R yesterday with a bucket and box blade. We have 5 1/2 acres and a very long gravel driveway as well. Love your videos and traveling along on this journey seeing everything you do. God Bless
Oh man!! Fancy!!! Enjoy it for me!! đ€Ł
The bloopers Crack me up!!!đ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
You watch letsdig18. You're learning from one of the best. Keep up the good work.
It will be nice seeing the camper sitting out in there.
As the old saying goes. "Keep on trucking." Or đ ing.
Oh yeah, love those channels! :) We're excited to have the camper on-site too!
Good job I'm so excited for ya!
Save yourself some time and money in the long run and put some geo textile down before your stone. Youâll be amazed at how the stone disappears and mud appears.
We heavily considered it, but decided not to for a few reasons. :)
@@GreenAcreHomestead the way you want to do it will be fine, I literally just put in a 100+ yard long stone driveway last summer, no fabric and very similar to the way you're going to do yours. We get very radical change in weather and climate here and I've had absolutely no problems ( besides a few weeds popping up here n there but that's what round up is for ). Keep up the great work Sam and Angela, on all your projects
ok not sure whats the best part. the tractor or the bloopers on the end .. whole video... i need a road put in . come over. ill by the chicken .. hahahaha
A little late now but a pipe in the culvert would have been a good idea and then just a little fill to level it out. I'm surprised that you didn't bury the power line in the ditch with the water line. You only need 12" between the two and your ditch was plenty wide.
Culvert will be installed after the home is moved -- at the county's recommendation -- house may crush it. Power will come to the home an entirely different route -- we've already met with an engineer.
So nice to see things slowly coming together.
Love your channel, you guys make me smile đđđ
Hope your driveway is wide enough for the trailer when you move it. I've been watching the channel Shed Happens on you tube.. đ I'd watch it...
We've had the home mover to our land already for a site survey. They have plenty of options for bringing the home onto the land.
Sam you are a worklogists everything looks absolutely perfect đ„°đ
love it
Iâm so excited to see the progress of your soon to be homestead đđŒâ€ïžđđšđŠ
If your waiting on him...your backing up!
BRILLIANT!! Cant wait to see the PROGRESS!! Shalom!!
wonder if the raised part is because of the ocasional floods
i agree with the second school of thought to just put gravel over the top and keep adding over the years , i do think you need to keep a small pile of gravel handy to fill in the ocasional pothole as there bound to be parts where the gravel will be pushed in farther than the rest
None of the property is in a flood plain. I think it's more likely the land has been sculpted from decades of being worked for cropland over and over rather than any erosion or forces of nature. I'm sure we'll make quick friends of the quarry :)
Y'all are having to much fun
Loved the videography tutorial. Awesome skills needed with the drone. Attention given to appearance at all aspects. WHEW đ you guys rockđ
