    I love the idea of supporting each other and also getting REAL with myself. Recently I took all my makeup out of bins and boxes and organized it where I can see just about all of it. Just looking at all the palettes & lipsticks makes me excited to use things I forgot I had and they remind me of how much I loved certain items until the next great thing came along to replace them lol. I got twitterpated when I saw the UD Pulp Fiction palette, I was thinking I HAD to get it, then I slowed down and really looked at the shades in and realized that I already have these colors. There is no new makeup in that for me!

    One product I'm super proud that I'm multitasking is the color tattoo on barely branded, I use it as a cream highlighter and showdown base. I use it with a stippling brush and I love it!

    Awesome tips Amber! I think the greatest thing for a project panner or someone trying to use their stash is to go through EVERYTHING in their collection. It's amazing when we start to realize how many of the EXACT same shade we have. I just went through all my lipsticks and took pictures and swatches on my lips and I have so many dupes!

    • @beudmama
      @beudmama  Před 10 lety +1

    These are amazing tips. I'm doing my best to hold of on the Lorac Pro 2, but I just got a job today! And I've already decided that my first check is the 'be stupid with money' check. I need to check my makeup collection to make sure that I can't dupe MOST of those shadow colors. That exact thing has kept the Too Faced Chocolate Bar out of my sticky fingers. When I have that check and free reign, though, I have NO idea what I'm getting.

    Those fancy palettes can get really expensive, especially if you are dealing with a large collection. I used CD cases (the old fashioned thick kind, found mine at Office Depot). Very inexpensive, so easy to store, and you can put a LOT of shadows in there, even keeping them in their original format in the case of trios/quads etc. or leaving nice spacing between them. I used double sided tape to adhere and it works great, they don't budge but can be removed if you really want to. You can label everything with a sharpie on the front of the case, and label the side as well so you can store them that way and see at a glance what you are looking for.. and they are transparent so you can see exactly what is inside without having to open them. They even came with nice heavy cardboard holders for storage if you want to use them. It would have cost me hundreds of dollars to buy enough Z palettes to do all my collection, and I much prefer the transparency and ease of use of the cases.

    So true about buying palettes. I really wanted the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette, it was the One palette I was going to purchase as soon as I finished some things up. But mainly it is neutrals I already have. Then suddenly I see the UD Vice 3 palette and I want that one instead. So glad I didn't purchase the Choc. Bar now. I'm going to see if I have dupes for the Vice 3 and save my $. My hubby gave my an Ulta case with 48 shadows in it I have barely touched and it has an enormous range of colors.

  • @abeautyproject
    @abeautyproject Před 10 lety +1

    Amazing tip! The only thing I have ever panned is a blush and a face powder. i am not too rushed to finish my eyeshadows as I love them all and get good use out of them, but I agree, I have like a gazillion dupes. Perhaps I should start trying to pan those. For me eyeshadows would take much longer than 3-4 months, though. The few items I am trying to use up are all cream products -- as I don't want them going bad.

    • @beudmama
      @beudmama  Před 10 lety

      A great place to start is pan one item in the color you own the most of and work the rest of your look around it. You're guaranteed to finish that color on a pretty, still trendy, but something you enjoy while reducing your stash in multiple ways:)

    You're right,great tips!I think depotting products also helps us seeing them for what they really are,blushes and eyeshadows to use!I mean, we are often seducted by colorful packagings, beautiful but large palettes we never touch not to scratch them, but they're not decoration, and they expire! :) (Oh, by the way, i love your necklace!!)

    I know what you mean by UD and gold. I have two Naked palettes and gold is in them both. I don't wear gold a lot on its own, but I like putting a color like blue on top of it and wearing that. I understand what you say about doing the color of the year and a neutral palette, but those don't work everyone and it sure wouldn't work me for, but for the ones it does work for I have to say that I think those are great tips for them to have. I think I will one day pan every shade in one of my palettes, but it may be like a two-three year process because I get so bored so I would want to pace myself for that reason and also I would want enjoy my other palettes and eyeshadow too.

    Thanks for the tips. I need to project pan my make-up, skin care, and bath and body collections. I am really trying to get serious. I wanted the Too Faced Country pallet, but I am going to try to dupe it instead. I have tons of Bare Ecentuals loose shadows. I am sure I can find something in there!

    • @beudmama
      @beudmama  Před 10 lety

      I think you'll find things you like even better in your BE shadows. Emily Eddington said the Too Faced Rocker and Country palettes left a lot to be desired. I looked at the shades and knew I could easily find replacements! I also have a lot of BE shadows that I haven't touched in years but I'm not worried since their shelf life is so much longer than the pressed eyeshadows! Let me know what you come up with!!!!

    I enjoy your PP videos very much. While I don't vlog or blog, I do have a spreadsheet for my makeup. It started as a way to track expiration dates and costs but it has become so much more. I track the days/# of times I've used something, I can search my collection by whether something is matte or not, I keep track of dupes so when I see some lipstick that I like I can search my stash, find the dupe and note it. If I want to find a warm peach with gold sparkles shadow that is appropriate for winter, I can find it without going crazy. I track products I finished, donated and sampled. I track Holy Grails and things I hated so that I never make the same mistake twice. For example I found out I'm allergic to lavender oil because of my tracking.). It has saved me so much money in the last 18 months. Naturally, I track my project pan and make adjustments as needed. It sounds like a lot of work, but it actually only takes a few minutes a day to track the info. Anyway, keep up the good work on the paning and the videos!

    • @beudmama
      @beudmama  Před 10 lety

      I love this idea, Nadine! The spreadsheet is perfect to track weekly and monthly makeup baskets since products are rotated out regularly. Right now I'm in "Move it out" mode. I've kept notes on shadows I've finished, but I like the overall so I can get a realistic picture of what I finish in a year!

    • @nadineguarrera3033
      @nadineguarrera3033 Před 10 lety +2

      I'm in "move it out" mode too. I'm overloaded on shadows, blushes, liners, glosses & lipsticks. I'm in the middle of a 3 year "Stash Reduction" project involving panning & shopping bans in an effort to reduce my stash by 50%. I started at close to 1000 colors. I've used, donated and tossed about 30% (about 300 colors) already.I don't think I'll purchase another shadow palette in this decade (although I caved and bought Naked 3 because of my obsession with pink). At the end, I'll still have a larger than average stash but considering where I started, it's a HUGE improvement.

    • @beudmama
      @beudmama  Před 8 lety

      Its hard but its doable. Nothing like consistently panning to just make it that always there reality check. I've really had to come to terms because I thought that eye shadow was my biggest weakness- it is in a lot of ways because I have more than I need but its the lip products that I have to watch out for. Drugstore, Sephora, MAC, Ulta- its a constant temptation whereas I can shut out the palettes since they are becoming more and more expensive that I need to plan. But lip products, my reality check came in having to trash tube after tube that smelled funky because I just couldn't finish them in a reasonable amount of time!

    I have a question in regards to panning a palette.
    Would you suggest using the same colors in the palette until they are gone? Or do you jump around within the palette for variation?

    • @beudmama
      @beudmama  Před 10 lety

      I personally use colors until they are gone. I like the consistency of knowing what I'm wearing with my makeup but I change the pops of color. I don't spot clean my brushes so its easier for me to not change colors all the time as well. Jumping around or using the same colors still achieves getting through the shadows because you're consistent with the same palette. I will probably jump around more with the Lorac Pro in 2015, but right now using it to the last swipe works for me!
