Queen ain't Queen without Freddy. And John left when Freddie passed away. Although I love Brian and Roger Freddie is irreplaceable.

I totally agree Queen died when Freddie died Now the 2 traitors Roger and Brian are parading around using Queen name with Adam Lambert he thinks he’s better than Freddie …traitors all capitalizing on Freddie Mercury legacy

Freddie believed that if they performed a song the same as the studio version then there was no reason to come to their concerts. You should stay at home and just listen to the records. So each concert a song was performed differently to keep concert goers entertained. For example, Somebody to Love live at Montreal is very different than Somebody to Love live at Milton Keynes.

Thanks, 555 - yep, bass player John Deacon wrote this one... he was Queen's "secret weapon" - never very forward in performances, but wrote quite a few hits... including "You're my Best Friend," and "I want to Break Free".. also: "Spread your Wings"... which was less of a "hit".. but still a fantastic song that they performed often.. give it up for Deaky... (every member of this band had amazing musical talent, songwriting skills, and great intelligence... never be another like them...)

I love John Deacon’s funky and love songs. I love all four members songs! They were all so brilliant and Freddie could make all their songs sound breathtaking. Michael Jackson actually talked them into releasing this song as a single. He loved Queen too!

This was from the concert in Montreal in 1981. John kills it on the bass as you said. Another great on that he wrote is "I Want To Break Free". The video was great, but their are live versions in Rio 1985 and Wembley 1986. I would recommend the video! Spread Your Wings in also great.

John Deacon (bass) wrote this great song which is one of Queen's most purchased singles. Do listen to Queen + Adam Lambert, but don't expect Adam to be trying to be Freddie because he isn't. Adam has a fantastic voice and is a great entertainer but he does it all with his own spin and through him new generations have been able to see a live Queen show and hear live Queen music. Queen's shows are still amazing.

@555_Vibes Different every performance, you noticed? Yes!!! Queen in Montreal was filmed over 2 nights. What you're watching is night #2. The band was not pleased, to say the least, that the production company *wanted* a repetition of the prior night's performance so that they could blend and mix the Montreal shows seamlessly. Weeellll, Freddie and 'Boys' decided to give the production company a 5-finger death blow (not to mention a 1-finger flag) and Freddie chose to de-clothe, lol, and the guys worked harder than usual to hype-up the audience. Brilliance at every level -- Queen is--even when not obvious 🤩Thank you for another brilliant reaction💯

Hey, 555 - I resisted watching Adam for a very long time, but when I finally did see and hear him, I loved him... he has a beautiful and strong voice and a great stage presence... I think that Freddie would have been proud to have him singing some of his work.. .fact is, that Adam could not have become this "star" if Freddie hadn't prepared the way for him to be himself... Love your reactions... look forward to more...

Many performers today use pre-recorded sound along with autotune so you really aren't hearing them live. Queen often changed their songs, making them longer and often performing them faster, when they performed them live partially because often the studio version could not be recreated live. Plus, they wanted to make the songs more entertaining and make the performance more of a show for their audience.
Someone once asked Freddie to explain why they didn't perform the song just like on the record. His response was, "Darling if you want to hear the song just like we recorded it, then buy the bloody record."

This is the Montreal 1981 concert. Freddie is wearing a Montreal Canadiens cap which is the Montreal hockey team. It was shot in HD over 2 nights and it is excellent. You can watch the whole concert on CZcams. Save Me and Dragon Attack are standouts but you should watch the whole concert. John Deacon, the bassist, wrote this song which went to #1 worldwide.

Taking this comment in a little different direction…songwriting has always amazed me. This is a song built around a single amazing bass guitar riff…sometimes it’s just a title, sometimes a hook line or simply a general thought or idea!
No matter where it came from, this is a classic bit or rock history. Where Queen had it over everybody else was Freddy Mercury’s ability to take a good solid song and push it COMPLETELY over the top!!!
Great performance and great reaction…keep’em comin 555!!!

Written by bassist John Deacon who was inspired by Chic’s Good Times. Apparently, John spent some time in their studio!! Michael Jackson loved the song so much that he encouraged Queen to release it as a single!! Good thing .. big hit in the U.S. MJ was a fan of Queen but a bigger fan of Freddie!! They recorded 3 demos together in Michael’s home studio. Only one was released called THERE MUST BE MORE TO LIFE THAN THIS -

This is a fine and prime example of you do not tell Freddie Mercury what to do. I see someone already told you the story. The backstory to this song is that they were in studio and John Deacon came up with that baseline. They went to eat but when they came back John didn’t remember it (that would be me 😂.) They pieced it back together and Queen enters the world of grunge rock. And you are exactly right, their music is so different which was part of their magic. Oh and I am on the side of yes to Adam Lambert with Queen, he has been with them now for like 12 years and that means something. He is such a nice guy and has always been respectful of Freddie. Always. How about doing a reaction to Adam Lambert solo first without Queen, like singing Cher’s song “Believe” at the Kennedy Center Honors? It will show you just how great he happens to be? Okay bye!!! T ✌🏻

Brian has said he always gets frustrated doing this live because John Deacon wrote it & played guitar on the studio version and found a very unique sound for it & Brian was never able to recreate it, even with John "tutoring" him. 😁

So, I’m one of those fans who just isn’t really interested in listening to any Queen songs unless Freddie is singing… I have nothing against Brian & Roger wanting to tour and play live for the fans, more power to them!
My “issue” is that I wish they had MARC MARTEL singing as their front man… He sounds the closest to Freddie of any other singer (although Freddie is irreplaceable).😄
(When choosing a new front man, it was between Marc Martel or Adam Lambert: Roger wanted Marc and Brian wanted Adam. Obviously, Brian won… The compromise was that Marc Martel’s Queen tribute band - Queen Extravaganza - is (I guess you could say) officially “sanctioned” by Queen and is even promoted on Queen’s official website.)
I do admire Adam’s singing ability, I’d just rather hear him singing his own original music.
    SUGGESTIONS:
There’s a beautiful live performance that Adam did at a tribute concert for Cher, of her song:
    “Believe”.
(Cher is in the audience and gave him a standing ovation.)
    czcams.com/video/5PzQHZLiUPs/video.html
This is an example of MARC MARTEL’S singing. It’s called:
    “The Mercurotti”
…because he sings part of the song IN FREDDIE’S STYLE OF SINGING and the other part LIKE PAVAROTTI.😳
