@555Vibes can injust say yes this was one awesome set, if you liked the guitar playing on this then can I suggest Pink Foyd pulse concert 1994 I can pick a few songs from it that stand out but to be honest the whole concert was spectacular to say the least, the songs are Sorrow, Time, Another brick in the wall and comfortably numb will absolutely without a doubt have every hair on your body standing up and it's queit possible a few tears may appear the guitar solos on this song in this concert will just blow your mind, a word of advice though no talking through the guitar solos of David Gilmour it's the law lol hope you do the reactions to this set.

What a great person and talented beyond belief. I was lucky enough to see Queen on tour 3 times. I know the 1st time was 1978 I was 17 and was blown away. I believe it was the News of the World album tour. In New Haven Connecticut. So privileged to seen Queen and the talented musicians in their band. I'm 62 years young now and the memories are still fresh in my mind!❤

These were the very words Elton John uttered when he rushed into Mercury’s trailer after the set. “You bastards, you stole the show,” joked the charismatic star.
“Queen smoked ’em. They just took everybody. They walked away being the greatest band you’d ever seen in your life, and it was unbelievable,” said Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters. “And that’s what made the band so great; that’s why they should be recognized as one of the greatest rock bands of all time, because they could connect with an audience.”

@@555Vibesat the 1991 Freddie Mercury tribute concert, Queen played this song with Robert Plant (from Led Zeppelin) on vocals. It’s the only time I know of they sang the “ready Freddie” line 3 times in a row. 🙌
To give people some idea how good queen was that day,the legendary David Bowie who was on next after queen was heard by a reporter to exclaim "how the fuck am i supposed to follow that?" also another guy asked Freddie "what instrument do you play?" to which Freddie replied "the audience darling" facking legend was our Freddie
Don’t forget the quieter but brilliant bass player ( also an amazing songwriter) John Deacon. He wrote Another One Bites The Dust. I’m sure you’ve heard that song. You just didn’t know it was the incredible 4 members of Queen! All brilliant musicians and songwriters which makes their music so eclectic! There is nobody that had the magic of Freddie Mercury, Brian Mays, Roger Taylor and John Deacon. I miss Freddie’s voice. RIP genius❤
Sir Brian May, the lead guitarist, wanted a song to get the audience involved so he wrote "We Will Rock You." and Freddie wrote, "We Are The Champions." So was born the two most heard songs at sports arenas and stadiums.
Ahhh Back in the age of talent❤ There wasn't Auto-Tune and all the fun gadgets they have now. You either had it or you didn't......There was no in-between. The best music was from this era! 💖💖💖💖
Freddie had some throat issues that day & his Dr. told him to keep off the higher registers as much as possible but you coudn't tell. This is Rock History at its finest! Bravo for watching it!
There is not another band like Queen. Some will argue with this but honestly it is true, they are unique. All 4 members wrote Number 1 hits. You will quickly realize just how well they perform together, great harmonies, tight arrangement without any help from in ear monitors, all communication was by glance or like to end a song something unique played by a musical instrument. And something unique they sound the same, if not even better, live. This is a band that feeds off of the crowd. But they saved Live Aid. I watched it that day on 1 of the 3 channels we had in Oklahoma television at that time. 😂 3 channels! 😂 To say the bands before them and after them were not doing well is an understatement. They had a specific amount of time on stage (20 mins) and Queen rehearsed. They fit their songs to totally fill up their set list. You can tell because they sped up the tempo of some songs. Their rehearsal video is available on CZcams and is awesome to see. It includes an interview that is so great.

But this 20 mins for Queen is still viewed as the best Live Rock performance of all time and perhaps the best live performance of all time. Freddie was sick too, a throat infection. If you are very familiar with Freddie Mercury you can tell something was going on. But still, even sick, he (and they) absolutely stole this show. Last minute addition to the lineup, before this they had kinda been apart doing solo stuff. They were together from then on, created music right up until Freddie passed away in 1991. I cried when that happened. Such a loss and way, way too soon. RIP Freddie. Buckle up because it will be a journey to go on a deep dive into their back catalog but it won’t be time wasted. And you will pick up fans along the way. Okay bye! 😂

Great response. I watched it live when I just had a new baby and was bouncing off the walls in the living room to Queen…very exciting.
They were not apart, they had just finished their world tour of The Works album album 5 weeks before Live Aid. Where in Brazil for example, they played for over 300k people.
They were well-educated scientists; not actually rock stars..but they brilliantly became Rock Stars!

Love hearing a newbie fan saying something like "I never knew Queen could sound like this!" We've been there & equally wowed. A late addition to the lineup, folks thought their best days were behind them...without lights and costumes, they would be lost. But they come on out FRESH and ENERGIZED. Pros with arena crowds and it shows. Best of the event.
New subscriber here! Queen was not part of the original billed lineup, so this wasn’t a “Queen Crowd”, but this day they were! I was 15 and everyone else seemed not very planned out or professional but Queen was DIFFERENT . Each performer had exactly 20 minutes before the power would get cut to keep everyone on track. Queen are the ultimate professionals and practiced until they had the timing perfected. There were green, yellow, and red lights on stage. From certain angles you can see they ended it right as the red light came in. Freddie had a throat infection and doctors told him not to perform. He downed some vodka and they conquered the world! Keep going down the Queen rabbit hole. You won’t be disappointed. I just rewatched the whole 2 hour July 1986 Wembley concert and it was incredible. I wish I’d been able to attend one of their concerts 💛💛

Geldorf changed his mind pretty quickly - it was an every band imaginable live aid. They knew Queen and their songs well. He was only turned down by Stevie Wonder.
If you look at the end of We are the Champions, as the last note is played the red time light comes on. Perfect timing.
Totally agree because there were multiple bands on not all were queen fans ...until there performance and the doctor advised Freddie not to sing because of a throat infection. ...they will never be matched followed them for years...

Queen stole the show at Live Aid. It is touted as the greatest live concert of all time, and I agree. There is a special song that Freddie and Brian did after the concert. It's called Is This The World We Created. Very deep song appropriate for that time and so very appropriate for our time today. Will bring at tear to your eyes. It's just Freddie and Brian, and Brian's guitar.❤❤❤❤
They performed crowd pleasers that everyone knew and included the audience in the performance. Other artists there that day used it as a launch pad for there new material with defeated the objective of live aide and is the reason they were not remembered for their performance. Its also believed that donations didn't start coming in till queen performed because they embraced the true meaning of the concert.
It feels like yesterday when I rewatch this, I was 24. One of the greatest moments in music history. The sun shone all day and you could feel the atmosphere coming through the TV.

My favourite "eey oh callback" between Freddie and the audience is the one on the video of "Under Pressure" live at Wembley. It lasts a bit longer and is quite amusing, especially at the end. No spoilers! This one is awesome, too, of course, especially since this wasn't a Queen crowd and yet they all knew what to do. Oh, and the song at the end which you thought you were going to see but didn't, is called "Is This The World We Created". You can find it on a separate video if you're interested or see it as part of the live at Wembley concert.

The two songs you didn't know were Radio Gaga and Hammer To Fall. Freddie wrote Crazy Little Thing Called Love in the bathtub in about 10 minutes. We are the Champions was visualized by him as a song of participation for concerts although it was taken up by sports. At a rock concert "everybody's on the same side". I suggest you react to One Vision , followed immediately by Tie Your Mother Down live at Wembley 1986. Queen really knew how to open a concert!

Some of the bands used this opportunity to promote new songs, but Queen chose to use as many fan favorites as they could fit into the 20 minute time allowed. Bo Rhap and We Will Rock You only had the first verse so that they could include as many favorites as possible. The "newest" song they did was Hammer to Fall, written by Brian May, There were twice as many satelites for this concert as there were for the Olympics.

Freddie was once asked what his favourite instrument was and he said "the crowd". He loved his interraction with his audience and so did we. I was lucky enough to see them live at the same stadium a year later in what turned out to be their final tour. As a frontman, Freddie is the GOAT. Jump into the Queen rabbit hole, it is deep.
John Deacon, the bass player, was an engineer and a tinkerer. He pulled a discarded portable radio out of a dumpster and turned it into a mini amp (called the "Deacy") that Brian played through on a number of album tracks.
Deacon also wrote "You're My Best Friend" which was a #1 hit. In fact, Queen is the only quartet band ever to have each member write a #1 hit for the band. (Sorry, Ringo!)

I highly recommend the entire Queen Live at Wembley 1986 concert. Same venue as here about 1 year later, an all Queen fan crowd, and also is one of the last concerts with Freddie. It's long for a reaction unless you cut it into sections, which I really wouldn't recommend because most of the songs flow into the next. It's here on CZcams even if you watch it for your own pleasure. You can see how they did Bohemian Rhapsody in concert. The band would leave the stage during the opera section and play the original recording, then come back on stage after. All the songs done at Live Aid are in that concert, including the one cut off at the end here, called "Is this the World We Created?" You'll get chills.

The old wembley stadium held 100k people in the stands but there were people on the 50m x 100 m pitch! The most important part is that most countries on Earth were carrying this broad cast with an estimated TV audiance of 2 billion people! The UK handed over to the USA and Phil Collins, having sang in the UK flew to the US on Concorde and sang on the US production. The concert lasted for about 18 hours
Freddie had laryngitis the week before this concert, his doctor recommended that he cancel his appearance and rest his voice. Of course he was having none of that and went on to make rock history. They had the comedians on to keep people entertained while they got the stage ready for the next performance. The stadium holds 72,000 and that's the number they gave as the official count, yet you see people on every inch of the playing field as well as in the stadium, so the actual count has to be larger. Also, Queen was late to sign on for the concert, so their name wasn't in any of the advertisement leading up to the concert. They were a surprise to the audience when they were announced. We lost Freddie in November 1991.

Guitarist, Sir Dr. Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor are still touring as Queen. New frontman Adam Lambert is touring with Queen and has a great show. Saw them in Paris last year and seeing them in Dallas this November 3. They honor Freddie in all they do and even have a hologram of him. Brian May has not lost a step in his guitar playing. It's like a Broadway Show with all the Queen hits. Selling out as we speak and more dates have been added.
Seeing them in Boston this October. Can't wait!
Yes, Brian & Roger are still playing at their absolute best! Saw Queen + Adam Lambert in concert in Melbourne Australia in 2020, best concert ever, Adam does a fabulous job as frontman & pays homage to Freddie whilst singing in his own unique way. Love that Queen’s music is being introduced to a whole new generation! Long may they rock! ❤️🎸❤️🥢❤️🎤

I came from NYC to see Freddie n Roger n Brian and Queen at Live Aid I was 17. I cannot tell you what it was like but Amazing to have been there. I had seen Queen on their first US Tour at MSG in NYC and in also in Canada. That was the best show I have ever seen in my life, and I have seen Some of the best musician ever, this was hands down the best I have ever seen live in my life. But this was EPIC RIP Freddie

Every time I watch this concert it pulls me in and I feel like I am right there in the audience. Queen definitely took advantage of their 20 minute slot by choosing songs that the audience would know and be able to participate in. I love this show and watched it on TV as it was happening, as did so many others in the world. This concert was a huge success and raised a lot of money for famine relief in Ethiopia. Later at the end of the show there was a finale where Freddie and Brian came out and performed their song "Is This The World We Created (May/Mercury)." The crowd for this show in London was either 72,000 which is capacity for the stadium or 80,000 which was said to be capacity if the field was used without seating, depending on who you listen to. Either way this show and the other half of the event which took place in Philadelphia, 100,000 capacity which ran along side of this show (transitioning back and forth as the stage was set up for the next act) were both sold out. The show was broadcast around the world so the audience was said to be about 1/3 of the global population though I don't know if that is actually true or not. The story goes that Champions and We Will Rock You were both written to give the crowd something to sing along with. I sort of think Champions may have also been a nose thumbing to an old manager who screwed Queen over and then told them that they would never make it on their own (Death On Two Legs was also written about this same manager) as well as the British Press who were generally unkind to Queen.

They play a lot of the old music, but the new Queen just isn't the same without Freddie and John (bass guitarist). Freddie actually wrote "We Are the Champions" with the intention that it could be played at sports venues. The song that got cut off is called "Is This the World We Created?".

I will never forget watching this live. The coverage was bouncing between stages and I left to make a snack. When I walked back into the tv room, Freddie was just sitting down at the piano. I stood there, snack in hand, for 20 minutes. Tears streamed down my face every time the cameras cut to the crowd.
There was some political drama about having Queen perform, but by the end of the first song I'm pretty sure no one cared.
Definitely check out the fabulous talent of Adam Lambert. He's incredible. Then go down the Marc Martel rabbit hole. He was in his own touring band for years and people constantly told him that he sounded like Freddie to the point of him consciously trying not to.
Someone sent him the information about the project Roger Taylor and Brian May were putting together. Marc's "oh why not, there's nothing to lose, just have fun with it" audition video is posted. It's Marc singing "Somebody to Love" in his living room to tracks. I'm sure Brian and Roger were as blown away as the rest of us are. Enjoy!
Marc is also credited with singing much of Freddie's part in the film "Bohemian Rhapsody."

I still remember that day back in 1985 when I was stuck in front of the TV. As other mentioned Queens was booked late and the main crowd was not the normal Queen audience. After their performance the bands following didn't wanna go on stage as they could never match what Queen just achieved.
I had the good fortune to see them live with Freddie in Sweden 1984 and 1986.
Queen also performed Under Pressure at Wembley in 1986 which was epic.

That's Brain May on guitar one of the song writers of Queen and an amazing guitar player in fact he made his own guitar with the help of his dad. He has a PhD in astrophysics from Imperial College London.
The red guitar that the lead guitarist plays is called The Red Special and his homemade guitar made my Brian May and his father.
This fabulous thing was done by four blokes. One with a guitar, another with a bass guitar, the drummer and a singer. I remember watching it when it happpened, (on tv). I was 29 yrs old then, now 67. As the previous poster say,. this is the greatest 21 minutes of rock history and I doubt it will be ever be outdone. R.I.P. Freddie we all miss you.

You have already leapfrogged listening to their dozens of amazing songs & music videos. There has never been any band so creative as Queen. You have much to discover , but please take some time to go through their early stuff that made them legendary. And then the last concert. In February 2020. Two Dutch bands play a number of covers. 2 singers 2 drummers and an orchestra. Friends of Amstel LIVE. Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Freddie wrote 'A crazy little thing called love' as a tribute to Elvis. Many people still think it is an Elvis song. Brian May, the lead guitarist, is now an Astro Physicist; he couldn't afford a guitar so built one with his dad and used that on many of Queen's early hits. It was a really hot and sticky day and we had a big thunderstorm after the concert was over. Seems so long ago now.
Adam is an incredible front man too - one voice in a million as Brian and Roger say.
I was 25 then & LOVED watching Queen with the superb Freddie. They were all spectacular, that's for sure. Never saw them live sadly, just on the tv but at least I had to see them at the time. I shall never ever forget them & I'm 63!!

It's hard to describe the world that this concert took place in, if you didn't experience it. Ronald Reagan was president, there was a global recession going on which partially precipitated the famine that this event was created to aid. Interest rates were sky high. Nuclear war with the Soviet Union was a real risk. No cell phones. No digital cameras. MTV only played music videos. The sheer amount of talent that went into the Live Aid concerts is amazing. The list of the bands that played for this event is staggering.
At 9:48pm Freddie and Brian came back on with Brian playing the acoustic guitar and Freddie singing "Is This the World we Created" ... it is available on CZcams if you search for it, worth a listen with beautiful Freddie singing compassionately x
I love watching freddy in this show. his best show and performance. i cry watching him in this. this was towards the end of his life. he wasn't suggested to play; due to flu or something; his throat wasn't doing well; doc said not to. he did and he looks fine and sound amazing to me! he was a god! i love queen ssososoosso much!! freddy mercury we miss you sososoos much!!!! when freddy sang radio ga ga; the phone lines for the fundraiser live aid went lighiting up like crazy. sir elton john backstage was screaming his head off for them and waiting to hug him. freddy hadn't been with them for a while before the show; they made up this neat set and freddy had everything perfect. even when he goes to the piano, only 2 notes to tune all of them and then he starts bohemian rhapsody. he said he wanted to do as much as they could; with 2 newer songs and classics. and they killed it!!! i was around 7 yrs old when this event happened; aired on my 5 or 8th birthday July 13th of that year.

I was born in 1982 and have been lucky to have spent my whole life as a Queen fan, these gentlemen are pure gifted talented and it is always a joy to see someone start their journey on this great band. from what i remember Brian and Freddie both wanted a song to be sung at sporting events. so Freddie wrote "We are the champions" and Brian wrote "we will rock you'' both were made classic and they considered it a draw in their bet to get a song for sporting events
It's wonderful to see new Queen fans. I taught my daughter about Queen and I'm currently teaching my 12 year old granddaughter about Queen. She just got her first Queen tee shirt lol. Amazing to think tickets sold out for this show before Queen were announced so nobody went to see Queen. Even so everyone in the crowd sang every word and knew what they had to do. Such a big band. Epic

Hi loving your reactions to the best band in HISTORY, Queen. I was in that crowd at Live Aid in July 1985, I was 16 years old. We were all unsure whether Queen would be making an appearance as they weren't on the OFFICIAL line-up. For 20 minutes or so on a hot Saturday afternoon the whole of the UK were ruled by another Queen !!!! I have been a MASSIVE fan ever since and saw them twice the following year in July 1986 and then Freddie's EVER last LIVE performance with Queen at Knebworth when there were 150,000 of us in the crowd. Queen flew in by helicopters and it was amazing, however someone forgot to press the "record" button on that day and there is no official recording of it. Ya I was 15 and still remember watching it not realizing what I was watching at yhe time waiting for Def Leppard. It took years of watching bands live over the years and re watching live aid and went wow never again will we see this. I truly feel bad far every generation after us. Oh and then finding U2 when they sang songs that meant something.

Lady GaGa was a huge fan of Queen , and adopted her theatrical style , and Her name from Queen and THAT song. There truly was no equal to the Freddie and the band. Their style , charisma, and outside the box TRULY unique and trailblazing approach to Pop and Rock music , not only influenced every major Genre of Music from rock, to Pop , to country and even soul. But they truly earned every damn letter in the word GENIUS !!

Great reaction, thanks! I'm not sure what happened there at the end for Brian and Freddie's performance. It was there for me when I played it. I also didn't have any ads so maybe it's different for different people depending on your provider or something? At least the main performance was complete. This was broadcast live to a viewing audience of 1.5 to 1.9 Billion, yes billion, depending on the source you use. There were reportedly 72k in the stadium but some say there were more and there was another 89k in JFK Stadium in Philadelphia. I watched most of it live at home in the U.S. and then again in the evening as some of it was replayed in prime time. It was one of the largest satellite events of all time. This is still largely considered by most to be the greatest rock performance of all time. Welcome to the Queen rabbit hole! Queen toured for the last time with Freddie in 1986 so you won't see any live Queen performances with Freddie after that time. Freddie was diagnosed in 1987 so he knew he could not tour but did not tell the band he was sick for several years. They did, however, do several albums and videos between 1987 and Freddie's death in November 1991. They also did some great solo stuff during that time. I recommend you watch Queen in the 1970's and 1980's through 1986 before you watch the later videos. It will help you understand the natural progression of Queen and the relationship with their fans through the years. If you watch early Queen during the 1970/80's then watch their later video's, you will see quite a change in Freddie's appearance which, in the later years, is quite stark. His voice, while it does change somewhat, remains magnificent until the end.
