- After watching this tutorial YOU will be able to make amazing and very realistic scenery starting from scratch. It can seem daunting at first but if you just take it one step at a time you’ll have your first master piece before you know it.
The techniques used in this video are easily applied to a whole range of scales and can be used whether you build model railways, war game terrain, doll houses, model architecture and just about any other type of model making you can think of!
I spend a lot of time making these videos and having the ads on CZcams help support the creation of these tutorials, but if you’d like to make a more direct impact with supporting these videos you can check out my ‘Patreon’ page. The best 22 minutes I've ever spent on CZcams.
lol, thanks for the amazing compliment 😊
Luke Towan
u made my interest come alive
Luke Towan can you do like a series where you make one of these, but MASSIVE. Like add bits and pieces to a little village. PLEASE DO THIS WOULD WATCH AND LIKE EVERY VIDEO AND IM SURE OTHERS WILL TOO
but there's kittens and baby animals and real life hero and other educating stuff so there's that... but this is so great :D !!

I don't know why this was in my recommended but it looks awesome
Same!

Its in recommended because the creator paid for it to be. Either way, its cool
recommended videos are just another 'paid for' option by video creators.
Anyone else here wondering why they sat through 20mins of this...but somehow enjoyed it
Yep.. 😂

🙋🏻♂️
Please see my main comment posted at same time as this.. Iam same as u. Please read. Thanks
I just came down here to post that exact same comment, so yes.
for a second I was thinking 'man he will be pissed when he noticed that the stop-signals are on the wrong side of the road' then I remembered ''STRALIA

Looks like youtube gave you a hand recommending this, but I enjoyed it anyway
lol, so many people have said the exact same thing... I have no idea how CZcams works but your right it has been quite good for me so far. Thanks for checking it out and I'm glad you enjoyed watching :)
+Luke Towan Yep, CZcams randomly recommended your channel to me and I've already watched about 7 videos. Great content 👍 I subbed.
I came here to say 'why did CZcams put this in my box', I enjoyed it and I'll watch a,few more, it's amazing what you enjoy that you would never thought you would. Great video and some great advice for anyone in to modelling, thanks.
Luke Towan Haha you have no idea? apparently creators can pay to get recommended!
Logan S. yeah
Guys it’s the bob Ross of dioramas
Yea he’s a modern day Bob Ross
A happy little track here
I can see that so well
Ironic since one of his most recent models are based off a Bob Ross painting.
Tore off a spot of paint off the road? Turn it into a patched-up pothole. If that's not reminiscent of Bob Ross...
Not gonna lie, I'm not here to learn about how to make a diorama. I just like watching you do what you love.
Is it just me or is this satisfying to watch him put together a masterpiece?
CookieMouse me too!
I should look through his videos, really curious to see if he does war scenes.
A little disappointed to discover he doesn't, still all fantastic stuff. I suppose all the same tips and stuff could be used to throw together a battle scene.
Wulfric Ulfang yeah I agree
Same I bought five old cars for my town witch I have to build and my brother is helping me to
When does he sleep?
These look so real it hurts. You are an impressive person! Keep it up, dude.
Also please make a series where you make a small town/factory with a forest part so it can be done over two or more episodes?
Thank you for watching and your encouraging words. 😊
I’m a “pen-and-paper” artist but spent so much of my time as a child making tiny models like this - I wish I had the money and space to do this now. It’s fascinating!
It's 3am and I'm watching railway model tutorials... CZcams you never fail to surprise me

Søs L I prefere watching this kind of tutorials the night before exams 😂
Søs L Man , i really agreed and have a same opinion like you 😂
Was a very good early morning watch
I'm late for work because I watched a realistic model get built...and I regret nothing.
LOL 😀
I'm watching it at work and not doing as much as I could... Oh well.
i wish my grandad was still alive to be able to show him this he would love it
Mine too.
This saddened me greatly
Don’t use your grandpa’s death for likes
@@shawty5885 firstly it's 'grandad' not 'grandpa' & secondly, i can't control if someone likes a comment.
@Cheeto Puff How are they using it for likes? They’re just mentioning it, they can’t control what people like or not.
Saw this video pop up on my 'recommended videos' gave it a go and I was very impressed. I found it relaxing to watch and will sub to you for sure.

Imagine if this dude made a whole train table set. It would look amazing.
He could sell it and start his own company.

this video was done on my bday
I don't even have a train and I just watched the entire video. Impressive
Been watching a bunch of CZcams tutorials on scenery with an eye towards tackling this fascinating aspect of the hobby. Not to violate model railroading etiquette, but Luke's techniques and results are leagues ahead of nearly every other modeler out there. Thank you so much for sharing your priceless experience.
Wonderful work! I'm no expert, but I do drive a lot of country roads, so the only recommendation I can give is that the point where the dirt road crosses the paved road should have some dirty tire tracks and small bits of gravel encroaching on the paved road.
First I would like to say it looks absolutely incredible and you did a great job.
I live out in the country so I noticed one thing I think you could add, where the dirt road meets the bitumen you could add some dirt tire tracks running part way down the road, from the dirt left on the tires as the cars drive away
It might help make the two roads blend together more seamlessly.
But again it looks amazing.
cool, thanks for the tip :) I'll do some more experimenting and see how it comes out :) Glad you're enjoying the videos
Luke Towan thanks for replying :) it's great how you're so in touch with your community

Just subbed! Me and my grandpa have a small train layout in our basement and we find your videos very helpful when we want to start adding scenery!
Luke; Your eye for color, texture and form occurring in the real-world, and translating these into the miniature world is just fantastic! You techniques are inspirational to modelers everywhere, and your first-rate video productions are a pleasure to watch, even for non-modelers! Compliments once again and greets from Connecticut!
I can just watch this the whole day
lol, thanks mate :) glad you enjoyed watching
Yifei Wang yeah , me too ! 😂
It'd be nice if you make a lil scene where you put a go pro on top of the train and let it run to show off the completed work.
Hi Mark, thank you for your idea. Will keep it in mind. 😁
Mark G. An excellent idea.
your patience is out of this world. you are an encyclopaedia
Amazing work as always! I'm ballasting my tracks this week so your tip of tapping on the rails with the brush is going to come in very handy. Thanks for sharing and keep up your amazing work!!
Well, you certainly won my subscription!
Thank you very much :)
Your patience and attention to detail is very notable.
I saw something similar on Instagram and decided to look it up on CZcams. I'm so glad I did. Your voice is incredibly relaxing and your attention to detail is just amazing. This was so peaceful and relaxing and when you shared the final masterpiece, I actually thought I was looking at a picture of a railroad, on a country road with a beautiful scenery. Incredible masterpiece. Thanks for sharing.
You sir need a show on American TV on Sunday mornings. As so many have commented, you truly are the modern day bob Ross...
Good side of CZcams
😀
vivek antoni ikr I almost forgot this side existed after being on the toxic politics and gaming side for so long.
Great* side
This is flippin' amazing. The patience, detail, and art...just flippin' amazing.
I watched this some years ago and just watched the entire thing again. It's wonderful work, thank you.

Art at it’s best!!! memories from my childhood seeing that V-Line train.
I am in the process of building my own layout and as I get closer to the phase where I'll be adding scenery it was one of the many parts that frankly terrified me. Watching your videos and seeing the process that you follow has really given me much comfort. They are much appreciated and I am happy to make a donation to keep these wonderful tutorials alive and kicking. Thank you!
Thanks David :) I'm glad you find comfort in watching the videos, I've found a lot of others are worried about how to do the scenery and to be honest when I was building my N scale layout scenery was the thing holding me back the most. After much trial and error I eventually figured it out, I actually learnt a lot from CZcams as well.
I hope you continue to enjoy the videos :)
Cheers
Luke
first good channel of recomedations
Stan Mol yeah, this channel is awesome
Stan Mol yep 😂
Thank you 😊

when i get stress out and my anxiety goes a little, your videos make me happy. your voice and the music work. your art is amazing!
Your videos have a meditative quality to me. To keep staring, wondering when my eyes will pop out of their sockets. This is gorgeous!
That's incredible! Those photos look like real life.
He could have just taken it outside to photograph it.
I have no experience whatsoever In modeling, yet here I am watching this video...

@@tynj6816 if you're not careful and hit one of those pot holes you might need a new tyre and even a new aluminium rim to put in the boot 😂 (I know I'm late to the party)
Great technique and camera work, one should consider when marking the centre line on the road
that it should be a solid line on bends and curves. At least that's the standard in Canada
i've been looking for a video like this for years!! now i can finally build a miniature scenery!!! thank you, you deserve millions of subs!
lol, thanks Daniel 😊 a million subs would be amazing.... maybe one day 😊
Luke Towan you deserve more subs
Luke Towan how long did it take you to do this whole thing
If you're talking about this model, I probably spent about 10 hours total on this model over a week or so 😊
Luke Towan wow
I have mid terms in 2 hours...

When building something like this it can be so relaxing while getting enjoyment out of it. It might not be for everyone. But for me, I love creating scenes like this. You did a beautiful job I love it.

You are really good at this mate, my father likes to do this a lot and let let him see this video, he always wanted to make these kind off roads and putt them into glass domes ;) thx for helping me and my dad 👍🏼
No worries mate, good luck with your dioramas :)
Luke Towan thanks ;)

wow..... this is quite incredible!! You sir are an amazing artist, keep up the great work and thank you for sharing!!
Thanks mate :)
Adam Jarvis ikr 💪😂
Luke Towan I'm not new to this but have been living on unconventional methods with good results but my question is what is ur preference as far as matainaince and cleaning. my layouts are in an open basement. as it can be grueling to keep clean
I have a shed that is perpetually dusty... I keep my smaller pieces in plastic storage containers and cover (tucking under) bigger pieces with plastic sheeting.
That is really nice Luke. Your creative abilities are impressive. That end shot was photo realistic great job.
A NOTE: for some reason your tutorials don't circulate that much. It could be my platform but I've only seen a very few while others are all over the place like they've been tripled. Thanks for showing this video. Happy New Year! :-)
Creative Brilliance! Thanks for showing all the products you use.
OMG i've never seen such an amazing model in my life, thats an amazing work.
dude, you've got one hell of a skill. keep it up.
TexTLO yup, no doubt. 💪
Thank you for your positive feedback mate. 😊
Drink in hand, sitting back, time to relax: *I think I'll watch a Luke Towan video!* Cheers!
I'm not a modelist. I'm a heavy metal guitarist and airsofter. I have no idea why I love this so much but I absolutely do. Maybe one day I'll get into this, making dioramas of my own.
This guy is like the Bob Ross of scenery building, happy this was in my recommended ^^
Thank you for you high compliment. We'll miss Bob Ross such a great artist. 😊
Luke Towan yeah
I am never gonna make this but I'll watch all 22 mins of this, wishing I could make one.
It's so therapeutic to watch this, so glad I discovered your channel. You're an amazing artist

the static grass technique really helped a lot during our Maycomb County build from To Kill A Mockingbird. it really is cost effective and gives the scenery a very nice effect and texture. keep on making cool videos! 👍

@@benl5481 i was wondering the same thing
The simplicity of you talking and the build is so sur-real no excessive jargon just basic I'm hooked
I don’t make these but I like your voice and I always fall asleep listening to them.
wow. words cannot describe... heck with this guy who knows. maybe the moon landing was a fake! so realistic! love your work!

Like many others, I have randomly stumbled across this video, which is excellent by the way! You make it seem so easy with how calmly you explain things, but the amount of materials and tools I would need to make this is intimidating. Anyway, I'll be checking out your other uploads. This was very enjoyable.
Thanks mate for your great comment 😊
You're welcome!
Hi, I came across you by watching other artistic people that just have a Gift to Draw and Model, then I got hear by being intrigued by the art of modelling Railways which is what I like myself and have to say that this is excellent Channel and have watched a few now, love the talk through and the Step-by-Step explanation as you make progress along the way. 👍Thumbs Up👍
