Skeletal Pirates? Reminds me of FFV.
Anyway, you can see the beginning, and the end of this level, in fact you can see the whole of the top deck, but there are some rooms below it, which you'll need to explore in order to complete the Chalice. As a general tip, avoid all skeletons unless they're in the way, or are an Officer (the guys in full blue coats). The Officers crumbling is the only way to kill the Grunts. You can fall safely in a lot of places, in fact you need to fall down at the moving doors and trampoline section for Chalice completion.
Other than that the level is all visible from the start, so general exploration is pretty easy. Although near the end, when given a choice between the three moving platforms and the openings on the side of the boat, pick the platforms as they're much easier to cross. Also, don't forget the few remaining enemies and the Chalice in the section with the lift after you clear up to just before the Captain. Backtrack before (or after) fighting the Captain to the lift and head up.
The Captain is another unique boss fight (most of them have had some degree of not pure hack/slash to be fair). Light your Club and spam Cannonballs out of the Cannons, by walking over the fuse. You could time it a lot better than me I guess, but considering the next level which is by far the easiest level (excluding Dan's Crypt) lacking in health isn't a bad thing.
The Hall of Heroes reward is 200 Coins from the German, useful for Shield repairs I guess. - Hry
This and the pools of the dead are why this game cannot be called perfect.
This level is a real pain in the ass. Played so many times and it drains out all of your energy bottles. Those goddamn blue pirates are too annoying.
What drains all life bottles are those damn jumps from platform to platform to get the chalice right before the pirate captain fight 😩
Did anyone ever lose it when Daniel got launched by the catapult in the previous level and still screaming in the cutscene?
i loved this level in the remake so much . i just stand where i am and swing the magic sword . with the knockback effect all skeletons die without even touching me .
Hardest level in the game, original or remastered. Like some people have said, I missed the original sounds in the remaster, particularly the pirate KYARRR! and scarecrow OO ERRRs
I have played the psp version and I like the introduction to this level better.

Playing through the remastered version now, and I miss the repetitive sounds to be honest haha
God. I always hated this level.
if especially in the part of the elevator to go up and get the goblet, you get stuck in one part and you fall, very frustrating

That part of the shooting cannon tables where you had to jump over is pure nightmare fuel, probably the worst part of the whole game. Platforming was not Medievil's forte, and this level really shows. It's a shame because thematically it's the best level but platforming wise it's the worst...

Is the PS4 version a lot easier as i see people complaining about the frustration which is nothing compare to the pools of the living dead level (worst platforming in any game ever)
I found it about on par difficulty wise didn't notice that much difference. Some parts harder some parts easier. I've got a playthrough of the remaster, though I streamed it, so couldn't tell you off the head which part this level was in.
