And Ape Escape...

I remember not playing this without a memory card being little as I was but didn’t stop me from playing the same tutorial and first snowy mission countless times

I am so happy someone else had the same trouble as me.

My favorite holiday, Halloween.

They should reboot this franchise. There's definitely a market for platformer/collectathon-style games in the adult market, and Gex's brand of sarcastic pop-culture humor would translate well to the internet age.
Also: personal timestamp.
1:07:00
Just imagine the jabs Gex could take at todays pop culture.
Very true.
No reboot, but we are get a trilogy remaster in the future.
Yeah great idea let's get Gex saying things like "bruh" and "nerf this!" Followed by a big runny fart.
sadly, it doesnt seem like collectathon games have a market at all. Yooka laylee is a good example of a recent collectathon and did not meet expectations. Even the Spyro trilogy remaster thingy was a flash in a pan and now not many people care about it. I've tried going back and playing collectathons now that I am an adult too and they definitely are no where near as fun as they used to be
This game is sooo underrated
It was so great and original .Respect and big love for the developers
It is not easy to make a good game in that time 1999.
I love you
I agree. It's easily the best game in the trilogy. Gex 1 was just a dkc ripoff. Gex 2 was an improvement, but it need to be better, but gex 3 is amazing.
@@Bardockssj2003 i find it even better than Crash Bandicoot
@djidjo4484 finally, but I still prefer Spyro, but gex was a 2nd
This game was way creepier as a kid- some parts are still kinda creepy honestly. Even some sound effects are creepy for some reason lol! It’s still fantastic though.
the faces popping out of the walls in the Egypt area with that audio horrified me as a kid
Ultimate Ham Sandwich Yes! That’s exactly what I was thinking of but I couldn’t place it! I had fever dreams because of that crap 😂
It really was. Fuck that walkin bear man. So many nightmares as a mere bing bong. Think ScreamTV was my worst nightmare though from Gex 2
i remember i used to play this and not understand wtf he was saying but now that i've seen majority of the movies makes the game that more hilarious lmao
Same
I use to play this game a lot when I was a little kid.
Same over here
Loved the western and ancient Egypt and snow maps
Ryan Fork That western map was hard
Favorite ps1 game when I was a kid at the 98-99 even the 2000s
@@francescocv1593I was Born in the late 90's but i remember me as a kid 5 or 6 at my two older cousins place playing on their ps1, which made me get a copy for myself.
I need a remake of this for this generation consoles
I wonder the same thing.. why this piece of art didnt get any new game in the new consoles.. can get it
I used to play this as a kid and loved the Christmas level
I loved this game as a kid. But I felt it was one of the hardest games ever. Especially the timed bonus rounds. I avoided those rounds, they used to make me so anxious. Lol.
i could pass the crash bandicoot games because they were linear and i would get to the end of the level eventually, but in here sometimes i didnt know what to do or where to go, i think i managed to get to most levels by pure luck, but it was incredibly hard, specially when i didnt know english so everything i did was by testing and getting used to the controls and what you could do with them, i still have aaaaa lot of nostalgia for this game, its so "90s" with all the outdated jokes and colors and cartoon goofiness, god i wish i could go back to these better times.
@@ajr5678 Same, you and me both man.😎
lol i used to play this when i was bored, kinda took it for granted. all the noises bring me back
Dude I used to play this game so much! And never had a memory card so I always had to try and finish as much as I can in one day lol
Still scare from the bears
Me to😂
I haven’t played Gex in a while but I remember playing 2 and 3 so much as a kid. In 2 my favorite levels were toon tv, pre historic tv, and scream tv but when I was a kid the scream channels really freaked me out lol. I haven’t gotten through a lot of 3’s channels but like the western channel, Christmas channel, and mystery channel. But the Christmas and toon channels really have the most nostalgia to me because they were the first channels you go to.
Now this is a platinum trophy worthy achievement. Great job & thanks for the feels!
I used to spend over 30 minutes in Pirate channel whacking treasure chests and listening to Gex's quips. He had me rolling every time :D
I remember completing this game just as I started high school. I thought it was one of the best things ever!
I for a good 10 years had forgotten exactly which Gex game I played as a kid & never bothered to look into it, until now.
This is it, baby. Yeeeaaahh
Didn't realise there were different voice actors per region. The UK version has gex voiced by the cat from red dwarf
Ahh, so That's why he sounds different. I thought my memory was tricking me.
This was my favorite game for the longest time.. especially the mafia and Greek level
FecalMattur for some reason the walking military grenades scared the shit outta me.
Mine was always detective tv and toon town. Played this game so many times but I was never good enough or patient enough to 100% it.
Mafia level is my favourite too
Wow the PS1 mythology level is a LOT different from the N64 version! Fun fact, the N64 mythology level has blue orbs that you could tongue and use them as grapplers, they reuse the grapple orbs in Whiplash, another game by Crystal Dynamics
Woowwwww, this video is a huge nostalgia trip. Played this game so damn much as a kid but it's been forever since I've even remembered this game.
I loved this when i was a kid . Strange i still remember so much of it .
24:19 this is exactly what I came here for!! I could not for the life of me remember what game this was. Childhood memories
The nostalgia is strong in this comment section
Gex had some great level designs
Ahh this brings back so many childhood memories.
Thanks for making this video, it really helped btw.
omg you just uploaded this I wanted to see this game for years I had flashbacks about this and missed it and youu have it. subbed

I REMEMBER PLAYING THE DEMO FOR THIS!!!!
This was one of the best games I ever played. This holds true even today. They really should remake this, like others suggested in the comments.
Wish granted.
@@robertg6339 Duudddeee! This is awesome, thanks for the heads up!
I m gonna cry. 51:49 this fucking map, when i was 5 i couldnt pass this shit.
After 15 years finally i found the game. Damn, time fleeing so fast
Level 1(Christmas) Totally Scrooge
9:04 Create 5 Ice Sculptures
14:39 Wack The SnowBoarding Elves
22:36 100 Butterflies
23:06 Defeat Evil Santa(Boss)
This entire trilogy and the Croc games need remasters on PS4 or the PS5. Such classics.
I love this game ❤❤❤ I hope it gets remastered.
EDIT: IT'S GETTING REMASTERED, WE'RE GETTING THE TRILOGY REMASTERED!! 🥹❤️
I don't think it will because Square Enix have it and they don't see value in it :( It was so good though.. I prefered Enter the Gecko but still
I really hate to say it, but I don't think it would survive the #metoo movement
@@eaglestryker1338 damn your comment was 5 months ago sad how true it is
I never realized how sexual this game was as a kid. Love it
I did. I was 10 and pervin hard.
Not only that, but those who grew up with the N64 ports would never realize it either since Nintendo required the devs to remove practically every sex-related joke.
@IsmailofeRegime exactly
"i feel like quentin tarantino in a ladies footlocker"

English, please.
This, Spyro, Rayman, Tomb Raider, and a few others that slip my mind, were the highlight of my childhood game playing years. I can't even comprehend how I thought the graphics were amazing and flawless back then! Lmao. So far, I downloaded the Spyro reignited Trilogy on Steam and I'm not disappointed in the slightest. (the graphics on the Steam version are what I remember back in the old days! Lol)
Although these plays last for many hours, I like them better than speedrun because they allow you to see the extent of the game in its scenes, conversations and videos, which brings back many memories, plus when you have the game & you cannot play it because you don't have it in the same place. I love it.
PS: I saw too Abe's Exoddus walktrough. You were a great player, with no deaths & all the mudokons saved!
I have been trying to figure out what game this is all day and I can not believe I finally found it.
Oh, this game is advertised on the back of the manual of my PS1 Soul Reaver copy. Had to check it out. lol
Just brings back so many memories...
one of the best...
This had a charm that no other games can wish to have
I can only imagine a modern reboot of this series. Instead of quoting movies, Gex would spout off Internet memes galore. "Tails out for Harambe!"
Beautiful woman with a gecko that she calls tiger Haha.
I remember playing this game as well when I was little
I really enjoyed the fairytales level
I miss these days
2:40:00 The level that's a straight-up reference to another Crystal Dynamics game: Akuji the Heartless.
Need a time machine to go back and tell younger me that i barely even started this game. I made it through the Egyptian level and gigured i was almost done...lol
That Turtle guy sounds like Cam Clarke aka Liquid Snake's vocie actor to me
This brings back memories. When I had to tell mom on my brother so I could use his PlayStation.
This game was a strange one. I remember playing it often but never making any significant progress.
Cara que saudades desse jogo marcou muito minha infância no PlayStation 1
Coração chega a chorar, com 5 anos eu sabia o labirinto inteiro de cabeça mano kkkk
Nem me fala, mas eu gostava mais do Enter The Gecko!
I wish these stars looked more realistic. Oh yeah, IT'S TAIL TIME!
I love this game when I was growing up as a kid when I got the PlayStation one I thought I was the shit and I played the hell out of this game and even though I was a young age I got all the jokes and laughed my ass off
His lines are so fun lol
Ah i remember the days of no memory card playing the first few levels over and over and never being able to make that jump in the tutorial it blew my mind when i actuly made it to the 3rd hub area to discorver there was more. god i miss the ps1
The first word out of your filthy sewer will be Gex!!
Where are you from, son?! Texas?! Holy...!
Gex did some Full Metal Jacket there!!
i didn't know chibi-robo zip lash's gameplay was this long wow
I played this when I was 5 and I couldn't get past the tutorial because it was too hard, so I just watched my big brother play instead lol the memories!!
Wtf happened to Crystal Dynamics lol 😂😐 they had some great games times went by too fast GEX IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE THROWBACKS
Believe they were bought out by Square Enix
@@amyrose6572 Not exactly bought out, but Square Enix is their parent company.
@@amyrose6572 Eidos bought Crystal Dynamics in 1998, then Square-Enix bought Eidos in 2009, so as they stated in the other comment, Square-Enix is just the parent company and consolidated the Eidos operation under the Square-Enix Europe name.
As to their current projects? Just Tomb Raider and Avengers games.
The only thing concerning Gex that was heard of in the last 5 or 6 years was that Square-Enix was opening the franchise (along with other Eidos/Crystal Dynamics IPs) to indie developers with new ideas, through their Collective platform.
The only Eidos IP to get the Collective treatment and subsequent release was Fear Effect Sedna.
Who else has nostalgia from their childhood
I bought the Nintendo 64 port at a flea market (for $7) and already I regret it. The PSOne version by far is superior, and it’s shown within the first five minutes!
At least the levels aren't as repetitive as they were in the last game.
Damn, the remake just release like 11 months ago and then anothet trailer for ge, remake released just 3 days ago. Love this game with its differeny gimmicks and transferring to another land was exciting.
Nice Bonus level. Gekuji.
COOL!!!

Such an amazing game and so hard too
ok so, a couple of things
1: "ah my favorite holiday, halloween": was that a nightmare before christmas reference? snowy area, christmas elves, halloween.
2: wtf were those elves saying when gex hit them? "Hey, you're archy barthelow"
3: did evil santa just call gex a bitch?
Nostalgia phuuf phuuf
the game of my childhood :)))))

I was scared of the moving sphynx heads when i was little... they are creepy.

Una pregunta Ale vos sabés que botones se aprieta para que salte lejos? Gracias
Its hard to believe that this game is Rated T on Playstation
How many English versions of this was there? I remember a very British spy, an American wannabe British one and then what sounded like a young rapper.
Dana Gould voiced Gex in all three games for the US market.
In the UK releases, Gould voiced Gex in the first game, then Leslie Philips in Gex 2, and Danny John-Jules in this third installment.
Wow the N64 version cut out a lot of stuff. (including one glitched Bonus coin in the first level)
I remember I always wanted to play this as a kid. I liked lizards & wrestlers so a Gecko dressed as Stone Cold looked so dope. But I've been skipping around and haven't seen ANY wrestling themed levels in this whole game. I would've been super disappointed. Actually I'm disappointed as a grown man.
This game is cool. I have this game. I could never close with 100% of the game. I find it very difficult to get all the "butterflies" at all stages. The second secret bonus has a background music that neither of the game akuji the heartless.
This video refers to level 2 of the Akuji game:

Crystal Dynamics was killed by Square Enix (Eidos)
How did you get the 4th remote on the snowboarding level?
By collecting all 100 Fly Coins.
Darius320 yeah I found out, I'm playing now and watching your video!
I really miss this game. I need it on my computer, but there's no pc version
PSX Emulator is out of the question? I already tried playing this on laptop. God, it's so good :D
@@emmahawker5832 please, tell me more about this, it sounds good
@@Plasmapromo Never used an emulator on PC?
Well, *first* you google "epsxe for pc download". That should take you to the site where you can download the latest version of ePSXe - an emulator.
*Second* - you gotta download the game. I'm Russian, we have our own torrent sites where we download stuff, but when I look for something in English, I usually go to Pirate Bay. Go there, find the game and download it (it should be ISO file). Or if you happen to have the old copy on a disc, it'll be sufficient as well.
And *finally* - open your emulator, click on File tab, choose Run ISO. Now you can play the game.
Of course, sometimes some configuration is required, but nothing too difficult. You can look it up here - www.fantasyanime.com/emuhelp/epsxe
The article covers all questions for a newbie, so look it up anyway, not only for configuration.
And *lastly* - it's better to have a wireless gamepad, cause playing using a keyboard must be uncomfortable as hell.
hey, you're harshing my mellow
dude, you better not
So is this the definitive version of gex??
I lioke the game as a kid, but when I tried recently i fount unacceptable the fact that you can't get all the objective's controllers in one run.
