I love these old mk4 cabs
Great seeing you guys get stuck in with the little car ❤
Grab the ball on the end of the bonnet cable under the steering column with some mole grips and pull and the bonnet should pop. The ball end regularly comes out of the bonnet lever on these.
Just found your channel.
I'm in the motor trade have been for many years.
Best way to free engines funny enough is full fat coke cola works a treat.
But leave spark plugs loose not tight.
And if cars been sat for many yes might be worth changing the timing belt.
Very easy job 20 mins.
And remember it has hydraulic tappets so your better off taking plugs out and turn engine over for a good 3 min to get oil in them lifters.
As it won't start.
And them electric fuel pumps are a pain.
But one of Ford's better engines.
Good luck with the project 👍
Full fat coke?! That’s an interesting one! Thank you for watching and the advice - we need all the help we can get!!!
@@SentimentalCarClub Yeah I laughed first time I got told it.
But it freed up a few of my friends engines.
Depending on how long it's sat and if plugs are left out sat in a field for 20 yrs then you might struggle.
But on a normal basis yeah try coke cola full fat better than any spray can penetrant oil and much cheaper.
But I'll defo keep watching your channel 😉
I have one of these also in white 1990 had it a year or so. Been very lucky just a small hole under the battery tray no other rott as there proper rust buckets. It's now running almost ready for MOT new mohair roof on orded. Have you got some inside space to work on it? your going to need it.
Oh the good old cable come off the latch job, id swap out the cable for new one as they stretch over time and will keep coming off.
Too true
Good idea!
Try fogging oil in the bores. Much better
Next time u use a tyre pump like that, keep the car running..
Good call!
