In Memory of Bob Cole (1933-2024), may your legacy in the broadcast booth will not be forgotten for us fans. Part 2 of 2.
For tonight's game at 8PM, the Maple Leafs, at home, will try to tie the series lead against the Boston Bruins. At 10:30PM, the Dallas Stars will try to get a win against the Golden Knights, who are leading 2-0. I decided to go further in the intro until Kyle is shown. The song in the arena is Enter Sandman by Metallica.
Tonight's series: (As of 2:30AM)
TOR-BOS: (Bruins leads 3-1, just like the final score)
VGK-DAL: (Stars win, Golden Knights lead 2-1) thank goodness this game is over!
As usual, I own nothing. All rights reserved to the National Hockey League, CBC and Rogers Sports and Media/Sportsnet.

Life long Detroiter, as a kid in the early 90s growing up, me and my old man watching HNIC and Coaches Corner on a Saturday night, I'd play floor hockey while the voice of Bob Cole echoed through the house, I lost my dad a year ago, but these old clips can take me back 30 years in an instant, back to those Saturday nights with my dad, God love ya Bob, thanks for being part of the best memories of my life.
Right there with you. Being just outside Detroit (and not having cable) we were able to get channel 9 over the air from Windsor and Bob and Harry and then also Chris Cuthbert is what I remember. My dad and I would watch it almost every Saturday night and come playoff time...oh yeah. Bob's voice was the voice all 4 Cups in the Finals. I still remember his opening to game 4 of 97. "Here we go game 4. In a game that can see the Detroit Red Wings capture the Stanley Cup."
I couldn’t agree more. His voice alone brings back a tidal wave of memories for me of me and my dad watching every Saturday night.
Amen
@@tmoore4075 Same here. I actually watched that game while up north on a Cub Scout camping trip. We had a little black and white TV we watched it on. Will always remember it, and Bob Cole of course calling it all for us.
Im a detroiter also im still in the 313 every sat night was channel 9 cbc just for bob cole simply the best he was
When I was a kid, Saturday night wasn't just Hockey Night in Canada, it was Hockey Night in Upstate New York. The tin foil on my rabbit ears was crinkled just right so I could pick up channel 5 coming across Lake Ontario. Sometimes the static was so bad that all I could do was hear Bob Cole and Harry Neale. He was the voice of my childhood, and the voice of the game so many of us loved.
Bob Cole made hockey better than it was, he is such a legend of the game and a legend of the sportscaster world. He made my entire childhood and he is the one who made me fall in love with the game. First time I saw a Montreal game live, I was so disappointed not to be able to hear Bob Cole, so I never went back. I still listen to old games with Bob.THANK YOU BOB. SIMPLY THE GREATEST
I grew up in Detroit, so I was able to watch HNIC and Bob and Harry were the best. Bob's passion for the game was legitimate, and I loved as he would get more emotional as the games wore on. True legends.
me too...we were so lucky to get to hear those great Canadian announcers..Bob Cole. Danny Gallivan, Don Wittman...Ward Cornell. Saturday nights, HNIC was the best. r.i.p Mr Cole. End of an era.
I was born in 2003, so i grew up with the likes of Jim Hughson and now Chris Cuthburt, but i remember several years ago they brought bob cole on to call games occasionally in one season, and my God he had a real knack for it, it was honestly beautiful. Rest easy legend
Nobody better than Bob. I remember watching the Leafs playoff runs in the early 2000s on my living room floor with a bowl of ice cream in my hand. Playoff hockey was electric with Bob. This montage brings tears to my eyes. He is what inspires me to be a better broadcaster every time I pick up a microphone. The lives he has touched are countless
Bossy......BOSSY....SCORES!!!! Bob Cole is what I remember growing up. His voice on a Saturday night was a pleasure. On radio we had Bruce Martyn here in Detroit (and sometimes TV). But on Saturday night it was Bob Cole. We all have been blessed with such Men. RIP Bob. I will miss you.
Living in the States, I am late to HNIC. When I got the subscription to watch all the games, I loved hearing games announced by Bob. As a Wings fan, loved Bob’s call of the Yzerman double OT goal against St. Louis and the hit on Hawerchuk by Konstantinov.
RIP Bob Cole. THank you for all the memories. Say "Hello" to the Boys in Heaven. From a life-long Red Wings Fan. LGRW!
i have goosebumps
Foster hewit and Bob cole were hockey night in Canada. Today's announcers just don't have it. THE END OF AN ERA. RIP foster and bob. 😢❤
Today's announcers are robotic and too technical!
Dennis beyak is going to be the next one 😢
Chris Cuthbert is a beauty, but I agree most are handcuffed now or just aren't great.
Harnarayan is fucking terrible. Definition of a diversity hire.
I actually had tears in my eyes. Bob Cole. That voice. Those memories.
I grew up in Detroit too, there was nothing like HNIC nothing. RIP Bob
WOW WOW WOW JUST A FANTASTIC TRIBUTE TO THE BEST PLAY BUY PLAY HOCKEY ANNOUNCER EVER MAY UR VOICE NVR REST...
Growing up in the States I didn't listens to Bob Cole call games but what I have heard from him thru highlight packages on either CZcams, hockey videos or the NHL 2k series he definitely knew how to bring drama to his calls. Rip Mr Cole
Goosebumps
RIP Bob Cole - May God bless you & your family
This is Hockey Night in Canada 🇨🇦 on CHICAGO’S VERY OWN WGN 9🇺🇸
It’s scary I grew up watching bob call games hockey night in Canada was always bob
Just think of it this way, they used maybe as many as 20 of Bob's most iconic calls and yet I alone can think of 10 or 15 more that could easily take a place among them. He was so good that rarely did a week or two go by without him making a classic call for the history books.
He was the BEST !
Rip Bobby you were the best! 👍🇨🇦🏒🥅
My God THANK U.
4 letting me grow up listening to Bob & Harry.
I knew CBC wouldn’t have him on, but deep in my heart I was hoping Don Cherry might make an appearance.
nah fuck that dinosaur he wouldn't have added shit
@@TimberWolf99 Grapes worked with Cole for decades, I think Don would’ve had plenty to share. Know your history and show some respect, greenie! Cherry has forgotten more about hockey than you’ll ever know.
@@cws480 Cherry is a piece of shit who deserves nothing except being forgotten to time.
Please make Bob Cole into an AI so we can hear him broadcast future games.
NHL 2K7 is probably my favorite 🎮 And Bob's commentary makes it
This American has been a Bob Cole fan from the first time I heard him. I am saddened by his death. I am thankful that CZcams has some many of his games that I can listen to. He was simply the best. Thank you Mr. Cole for some great calls and may you Rest In Peace....
David, did you record the remainder of the game? Would love to put the full game in my archives! I have most of it but missed the first part of the first period and one other segment.
On the other hand,, Ron Maclean drove over Don Cherry in a Bus 😂
What a great intro and tribute to a legendary broadcaster!!
Few possess the talent to tell a story - on the fly - in such a way that if you close your eyes, you can envision EVERYTHING that's going on - Bob Cole was such a guy!! His enthusiasm through every play - building as the game went on - perfection!
For over 40 years of my life, he was the voice of hockey - Hockey Night In Canada - every Saturday night...Oh Baby...RIP Bob!
1:21 What the heck is german finance minister Christian Lindner doing in the Hockey Night in Canada playoff intro?
Pretty lazy that Sportsnet recycled an old video tribute from when he retired and also used it for his death. What an awful company.
I thought I was the only one who noticed that!
Satan himself dislikes this video
The Bob Cole era is over. Thank you Bob. Who's up?
