Today the man passed away and Canada loses another legend. We are now living in an era of clones, more and more the players from the different sports all look the play the same way, there are no more unique characters or unique styles, deliveries or methods. Sadly, the same has happened in sports broadcasting. There are fewer and fewer unique voices and unique calls and for that reason I can confidently say there will never be another Bob Cole. He was a great broadcast journalist and more importantly he was a good man. Thanks for the memories Mr. Cole, God bless you and keep you.
This brought me to tears. I grew up watching hockey night in Canada every Saturday with my pops. Bob Cole calling the games made me absolutely amped. What brought me to tears is realizing the final pieces of the happiest parts of my childhood would no longer be flooding my living room anymore, and the nostalgia is now gone. Bob, if you read this, thank you for being a part of the best bonding times between my pops and I. It was you that brought us together. You’re the greatest of all time.
He was inducted to the hockey hall of fame,Bob Cole is canada, Bob Cole is hockey. Thanks bob for being a constant in my life,Saturday night hockey hasn't been the same since you retired. The callers of today lack the passion you had for the game, the excitement in your voice. Canada leave a hockey stick outside your front door in memory of Bob Cole,on it please write..... Oh Baby!!!!!
This was my dad and I every Saturday in Detroit. Rabbit ears, fuzz but Bob painted a picture you'd never forget. I lay in bed sometimes and can still hear his voice. Magical ❤❤❤❤❤❤
51 years old. Still get chills listening to Bob Cole. One of his last lines in his last game “my mother said “robert, all good things must come to an end, and she was seldom wrong”. What a class act
Saturday used to be a great day, ‘cause not only did we have Bob Cole and Harry Neale at nighttime. But we also had Kath Soucie and Tress MacNeille at daytime. You see, the latter pair have both been in a shitload of cartoons.
There are few people you know in life that impacts you in a special way, for some its a priest, father, older brother.... Bob Cole, you will be soarly missed behind the mic.
As an American who just loves the game of hockey Mr. Cole’s voice brought Canada’s wonderful game home for us… he was the voice of so many games I watched my whole life… sadly that’s gone now RIP to the voice of Hockey
Bob Cole like Foster and Bill Hewitt and Danny Galavin were and are STILL the Main stays of Hockey and the NHL ! He shoots !! ! He SCORES !!! OHHHH BABY !! THANK YOU MR COLE !
Growing up with Mr. Cole calling every HNIC broadcast I remember in the 80's and 90's, if the leafs make it to the final, the NHL needs to bring him out of retirement to call those games....who's with me????
Sure, the players are the game. But so is the commentary. And my God, these lousy ones we have today aren't even in the same ball park as Bob Cole. Bob Cole put his heart into it. Every night.
We Treasure the story of Bob who loves to Cole out the world's best games. What a Voice he had way back when hockey was was created. Best Wishes Mr Bob
The thing that struck me about this video was how I could have such a deep connection with a man's face I'd see so few times after all those years of watching HNIC.
I’m glad to help out. If you missed it out when they did the tribute to his last Ottawa vs Toronto game I uploaded that on my hockey page on Facebook called Everything: Hockey as well
Bob Cole had the voice - he just didn't have the names of the players except for the team he was cheering for. No big deal but it was funny to listen to. Memories.
RIP Bob, he said it his way, just as Don Cherry did, but Don got shot down in Flames by Corporate Suits wanting to please individuals, whom 1 Don't know the game, 2 Never played the game, 3 Couldn't play the game yet 4 Never went to a game.....just sitting at home sipping our Milk n Honey. It's these same people whom have never been shot at in anger, yet shout out in anger when their toes are stepped on or are put in check.... BOB DON RON and HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA, COACH'S CORNER, every Pee Wee kids top 4 got to have's.....
Is there any sport that is more integral to the cultural fabric of a nation than hockey is to Canada? Some might say cricket to India, but that is a colonist's game. You could argue baseball to the US, but American football is so much more popular. Hockey just IS Canada.

Stanley Cup Finals Rangers vs Canucks in 1994…Bob Coles voice still gives me chills thinking back on that series
Thank you for this. Our power had been out for 6 hours previous to this which caused me to miss the ceremony.
I’m glad to help out. If you missed it out when they did the tribute to his last Ottawa vs Toronto game I uploaded that on my hockey page on Facebook called Everything: Hockey as well
