    One day someone will invent a spiral twist shaped long thing with a cutting tip especially for making holes. The countersink tool will be obselete overnight. I clicked the vid hoping to learn something. Instead I got a "how not to" video.

    Got Craigslist rims. With tight centric ring, vibration is less to nothing. After 1 night next day vibration side to side from crawl to speeds up. My rim lug holes feel all chewed, thinking some loosen up and get off. Can this be done to just smooth out not widen size? Any bit or tool suggestions?

    Hi,mi bought some alloys that had the wrong pcd in the advert. They are 110 and I needed 108. I bought some wobble bolts after reading about them in a forum. However when I went to fit the wheels I could only get 2 studs in. I then saw this and thought I would drill them out. But before I did I measured the stud hole diameter, they are already 14mm. Does this mean I need to drill them wider again?? If so how much by. Many thanks in advance

    not only is this a great way to mess up your rims, that is also the exact opposite of what to do when drilling metal. when drilling any metal, especially steel, you want to set the speed lower and apply a decent amount of downward pressure on the bit

      FATPIE Heard of a DRILL!? Dude is using a countersink bit. (Used for chamfering/beveling) Also, you wouldn't need to spin it faster when it "gets stuck." You'd want to press harder and make a larger chip. High speed and low feed is just rubbing and creating a lot of heat.

  • @Lugmanusa
    @Lugmanusa Před 12 lety +3

    WoooooHooo?
    How accurate is that? Isn't SAFETY a concern? Seems like the drill will wander around in the hole throwing the center of the hole off in some random direction...each hole will do the same thing and when you are done you will have 5 holes in some random, kinda close bolt circle....and the studs will not center properly. How about getting Lug Man to throw that on the CNC machine and drill them with .005inch tolerances? That wheel is going to shake n VIBRATE when you drive your car!

    • @EnglishLaw
      @EnglishLaw Před 2 lety

      Probably the hub size.
      Merc have a bore size of 66.6mm and Audi 57.1mm
      Some Audi are 5x112 and some 5x100 and Merc are 5x112 bolt pattern.
      You can put Merc alloys on an Audi with the same 5x112 so long as you use reducer Spigot Rings to balance the size.
      Sounds like you are trying to fit Audi (or related VAG make) wheels on a Merc.

    ok uh... why say hold it straight and show this? okay so... your tool... "as short as possible, as long as necessary". try using a shorter tool. use cutting fluid... if you don't have any, you can actually use cooking lard like crisco. actually works brilliantly on aluminium. now comes the important part... drilling with a chamfering tool is weird, to say the least. you should use an actual drill bit and a drill press. if you are concerned about using an actual twist drill, go for a step drill. if you have a step that will work as a "pilot" (like a centering pin, as the center of your chamfering bit is doing, really), then the subsequent "steps" will open to a diameter you can work with. without a drillpress, you have to have more steady hands, and an idea as to how to feed (amount of pressure you're applying to the drill)
    just as a note, your drill should only be turning at 1,100 rpm, and that's using a relatively conservative chip load.
    anyway, as a whole, this video scared me....
