  • Have you bought a set of wheels thinking they would fit on your vehicle only to find out that the center hole on the wheels are too small? You still want to use them but you don't want to make an expensive trip to the machine shop to get them bored out. In this video I'll show you how to accurately bore them out only using simple tools you'd have in your own shop.

    Nicely done! You did a great job. One thing to remember is to move the router in a clockwise direction, as you were doing. Thanks

    Think turning a bore size of 87.1mm to a 93.1mm is to much?

    How does this stay perfectly circular? I am trying to save a set of wheels that someone took a dremel to. Then hub bore is chewed up pretty bad. I was hoping I could do something like this, but I have no idea how a router would stay circular without a guide

      There's a bearing on the underside of the bit that keeps it from going off track. If you don't have a perfectly round surface on the center to base it off of you're kinda SOL. Unless you can make a jig to use the barrel of your wheel as a reference instead of the center bore

    I have a colorado. Very similar.
    Did you shoot for depth and a diameter or just the depth.

      I went for the diameter as well and got the right sized but for the diameter I needed. I needed a 3/4" larger diameter so I got a bit that took 3/8 off each side. 3/8 + 3/8= 3/4

      It's just a handheld router. You just gotta make sure it's not a palm router and that the collet of the router matches the shank of the bit.

    Why not got all the way through? Why just counter sink?

    • @timskineash
      @timskineash  Před 11 měsíci +6

      Because I still wanted to use the same hubcaps. If I went all the way through the hubcaps wouldnt fit anymore

      He says it in the video. He doesn't have to go that deep... For me, I have to go farther than an inch. Not sure if I can do it very easy

      If you go all the way through You will probably mess it up because you will no longer be able to use the bearing on the bottom to keep it straight@@mitchellh4028
