Always go clockwise. He went the wrong direction. The bit can jump and break. Probably why you had a bearing on one of your bits go bad. Keep up the shade tree mechanic work guys! Don't pay someone to do something you can do yourself! :)

Grindeing them is time consumeing but its wat i ussally do because once its done you can put any six lug on that you want

just an idea. ever though of grinding the tabs off of your hubs so you don't have to keep grinding wheels?
I ground the lugs off my front hubs and fitted the rears with 35mm spacers .. Problems solved ! See my vids !
